Such a lot of competition for this prize.
Usually, losing to a bad team would rank worse than getting flogged by the best team in the comp but I can't go past the pasting by the Panthers. That game was so horrible to watch. Letting the WGD score at the end was the final straw.

Re: Ricky Stuart linked with NSW Blues as Brad Fittler quits
As I said earlier, for all his numerous technical flaws as a coach, I think as a blues vibe manager and instiller of passion, coaching Origin is actually right in Ricky’s wheelhouse. Imagine if it did all come to pass and Ricky secured a Blues victory in 2024. Surely that would have at least a smal...

Despite the alarming reference to using the Wighton/Croker money - which I suspect is just an unnecessary journalist addition to the story - I'm not too worried about this because club hasn't got too many contracts wrong for young players like Weekes. We haven't brought in trash and the non-stars li...

I'm with you. The new rules help the home club but they don't change the key factors that drove Sanders to us in the first place.

Re: Raiders in talks with Kaeo Weekes
Sometimes a guy can be a journeyman without actually taking a journey. And other times he can definitely not be a journeyman despite being on a long and winding journey with multiple stops. The journey doesn't define the journeyman, the journeyman defines the journey. Sonny Bill was not a journeyman...

Saulo should leave the club Five years in the system for 27 games, we get a guy on the cheap and he plays 22 games. I think that is an extraordinarily good return. Will he be guaranteed a start going forward? Not necessarily but he is super back up. Completely agree. More than comfortable with Saul...

Re: Is Ricky Stuart the person to lead us to another premiership?
There is an old saying in NFL scouting that goes "Dont tell me what a player cant do, tell me what he can do" and that's the mentality the Broncos took with Walash. They know his weaknesses, they know he'll never be a brick wall at the back, they know he has errors, but they give him the ...

To think we wasted three pages of the Ethan Sanders thread talking about Emre when he's been rep player quality this whole time.
Congrats to all four. Always great for our players to get a taste of rep footy.

Re: Canberra Raiders sign star young Eels half Ethan Sanders
I suspect their strategy is to have him play on for them in 2024 and see if anything changes. They seem to think the longer he plays for them, the better their chances of holding onto him. Also another offence from Dylan Brown would surely be curtains on his Eels career, although I'm not sure how t...

Re: Canberra Raiders sign star young Eels half Ethan Sanders
On Guler or Saulo, no other team would have the type of middle forwards we do. They are possibly our 7th and 8th options next year. That is insane. This is probably an unpopular opinion but I think with the depth we have it would at least be worth talking to Papa this off season and see what is mor...

Re: Canberra Raiders sign star young Eels half Ethan Sanders
Fair point about Guler RD. That surprised me a bit, but to be fair on Guler he is progressively improving. I probably oversimplified my opinion on Guler but what actually gets me the most about him has been the lack of effort plays for a guy that could be much more dominant. He often plays low minu...

Re: Canberra Raiders sign star young Eels half Ethan Sanders
You can get a vibe pretty early on in a players career if they have what it takes to make it. Most of it comes down to their ability in defence and positioning. HSS didn't give me that vibe at all, nor does Schiller and Schneider. Guler has way too many errors for a front rower and from the get-go ...

Can we have a Go Fund Me account to be a third-party sponsor? 20,000 fans x $20 is $400,000. We could do some damage in the player recruitment market with that kind of money. Newcastle are a very ordinary team, however with the players we have out and the form we are in, it would take a miracle for us to win. The Knights would have to implode big time. We are in a _need_ situation for edges where we are not sitting pretty or even with a half competent backup so we can look for best ever options. I'd take Leilua for sure. There's nothing too concerning in his defensive output. Edge is a position where you see the odd whiff and it'll look awful at ...

I reckon George Williams was an above average half who could’ve given us that star quality we’ve sought if he’d stuck around. His on-field contribution was underestimated by some and downgraded because of his off-field dramas by others. But he was a really good player.

Wow. That’s nuts. The fact that ten of the seventeen teams have a negative differential (including a couple of mammoth ones) says a lot about the dominance of the top teams too.
Raiders in seventh with a 55% win percentage is decent. Particularly, as the next best is 47%.

This may be posted elsewhere but SEN is reporting the club has ‘begged’ Jack to play fullback for the last two years but he refused. If true, this is pretty huge. I seriously doubt they’ll play Jack in the halves unless forced to by injury. But my money is on him not being a success. Sure, it could click for a couple of games but I don’t believe he’ll be able to sustain it unless the rest of the team is really firing. He’ll be exposed if they play like they d...
