Re: RLWC 2013 Day 1: Game Day and Post Match

Sat up and watched both matches. Playing surface poor. Far too wet with players taking gouges out of the surface. Australia started slow with some uncharacteristic poor play from the likes of Slater and Cronk. But once these champion players settled into the match it was all over. We got the rub of ...

Re: Take us to the top, boys: Campese

Then lead from the front Campo. For that you have to run the football. Sticky is talking about you being first receiver. Good. But it is not a catch and pass role. The opposition must be in two minds about what you are going to do. This means showing the young fellas what you can do and how good it ...

Re: 2013 in Review - Shaun Fensom

If some of his team mates weren't missing tackles and being clueless in stopping offloads, he would not be forced to do so much clean up work. The team also got the handling wobbles back this year and that meant more defensive duty for him and opportunity for our opponents. When time is called on Ca...

Re: 2013 in Review - Jack Wighton

Jack's age/experience should always be taken into account when assessing his season. Considering Jack is a similar age to Mitch Cornish and has played FG over the past two years I consider he did well for a rookie three quarter. In his favour is an aggressive attitude and strong defensive technique....

After a Dud year for the Raiders some great news at last. Hopefully his arm holds up next year. Begbie picked Edrick as a future star from about the first time he saw him in U/20s. Good work Don Furner and Sticky.

Re: Ferguson sacked by Raiders board

Sad news for Luke Turner is that if he should have a couple of fights and go ok, Team Mundine will not let Blake Ferguson into the ring against him. He was only selected for Fergo because he was so raw and so physically over matched. I am sad that boxing authorities could let such a fight go ahead w...

A no for James O'Connor from me. Even if he bought his own ladder to climb onto the roof. We don't need a player with his serial drinking problems. We have no room for a player who thinks the world revolves around him. In a code noted for its lack of attention to defensive detail, he is a recognised...

Re: 2013 in Review - Josh McCrone

I was hoping that he would build on the encouraging year that was 2012. Instead he went backwards in 2013. His tendency to make a mistake and then be penalised on a subsequent play only highlighted the initial error and placed his mates under more pressure. In a team of poor defenders he was targete...

2009 was a strange year in that the best side all year was St. George but they got stage fright in the finals and went out in straight sets. The next best defensive side, which also had great attack, was Melbourne and they waltzed through the finals to take the Grand Final against the Eels. The Sala...

Storm loss for me as well. It set in train the path for us to sack a coach for the first time. This then gave opportunity to another highly regarded Club coach in Andrew Dunemann but the players performances meant he also left. Two coaches gone in a month. What an appalling home ground performance i...

The photo of Luke Turner throwing a left jab in the Telegraph story, makes him look even smaller than 'Light' heavyweight. Re: Ferguson sacked by Raiders board

At least the Mundines have done Fergo a favour by selecting someone inexperienced to go 4 x 2 minute rounds. It is an undercard fight between a pair of boxing rookies. It doesn't mean either opponent should take it lightly though. Early on boxers tend to just walk forward and throw them. The art of ...

Back on the topic of this thread. I hate to use the Roosters as examples for anything, but they signed SBW for one year and now have him for two. Going into 2013 Anthony Milford was an U/20s player. He would have had an U/20s contract with upgrades if he played First Grade. The fact he played well in FG and we have formalised him from an U/20 to a FG NRL contract in terms of dollars should surprise no one. He is playing in a key position/s an...

Player management and development is an obvious issue at our Club. Perhaps someone like Steve 'Boxhead' Walters could be in the frame.
