David Shillington's million dollar deal
I am sure a big reason Shillington wanted to stay was that he feels the club is on the way up. There is nothing worse for a player than to leave after a lot of hard work then see the team win the comp. Usually means a lifetime of 'if only I had stayed'

Re: McIntyre says Furner not under any pressure
I think Furner's early contract extension had a lot to do with upcoming player recruitment at the time. He was (is?) popular with the players and the likes of Harrison, Leahroyd-Lars, Picker etc coming off contract, definately feel more comfortable extending contracts when there is stability at the ...

Stop wasting your breath on all these crazy theories. The problem is obvioulsy Phil Gould picking us to come 2nd.
We need him to release a revised statement that we are a sinking ship and no chance of winning a game.

Shillington was good sofar.
But our dummy half service has been atrocious.
Our forwards have no one who can step or put a good pass on.
Very bad in too many areas

We were side on in the grandstand and that pass was forward out of the hands and travelled well forward. Straight away call from ref. However, some of the missed Knights offside players after we made half breaks and those couple of key calls WERE MATCH CHANGING! we would have been up 18-0 We didn't ...

We're just going to have to get used to all these wild stories I suspect. I know. I'll happily take the wild speculation in return for a big season! And I find it quite funny that he's described as a "former Wests Tiger" first and a Canberra Raider second writer must be tigers supporter ;)

theres not to many good teams out there for bennett to coach, unless ofcourse hes looking for a team that would be tough job to win a grand final.

i think that one of stuarts intentions with these squads is to also give himself a reason to stay as coach for a long duration of time. in short he is also future proofing his involvement with the blues.

I am afraid I have a similar story of no response or contact from Raiders Club. Shillington outstanding, Fensom, Buttriss, Vidot, Mogg and Tilse all good too

Re: Vidot for Souths Logan
Vidot has dropped a few bombs, I think it is more to do with technique (and confidence) than ability. He has done some ridicolously high and mistimed jumps when leaping for the ball. This causes the head and eyes to move too much at the crucial moment and also places great importance on timing (whic...

In the games against Bronco's, Tigers and Souths the Raiders went half an hour in each match without a penalty. And there were some there to be given.
The refs were a bit scared that we got that far ahead and they didn't want to 'have an upset on their watch'
We were duped!

Re: Justin Carney at hooker
Hookers (under pressure and fatigue) have to (49 times out of 50) be able to time their passes to the forwards, throw accurately balls onto the chest, pick when to run and pick when to pass quickly to the outside backs. I am afraid this is too difficult for most players to pick up at an NRL level qu...

TLL best game sofar, getting back to his best
tilse shillington Logan were pretty good
mogg, apart from a miss also snuffed out a couple of roosters raids with strong defence and looked to pass quickly and link attackers.

Re: Campo and Mogg as halves
Teams don't really play half and 5/8th anymore it's all about left and right. (Rightly or wrongly mind you). Under this model I think Campese stays generally on the left where he looked dangerous on the weekend. But Mogg and McCrone should both play on the right so we have two points of attack there...

Re: Should we make a play for Krisnan Inu?
Parra signed him for 250k a year and were after a payout in line with those dollars.
We have payed close to that for a lot less skillful outside backs in the past.
I think Inu is about to break into his prime and we should go for him (but at no more than 250k)

Mogg 'was' a quality NRL centre (and one of the quickest in the club during his time - have people forgot this). He may have lost some speed, but he could always put his winger away with deft passing and his passing and vision has improved as a 5/8 in France. A centre with passing skills will take s...
