McIntyre says Furner will be coach in 2013
My concern is the more fans such as ourselves go on about 'sack the coach' the more pressure it puts on the club. I do actually believe that people at the club are aware of what is said on this site. All the fans complaints about coaches from other clubs in the past had usually led to shocking seaso...

I reckon Carney was sacked partly because of his idiot manager 'Riolo'. He didnt properly represent his client at the meeting The advice this guy has given Carney over the last few years I reckon has been to the detriment of his player. Anyway I believe this manager is one of the ones in trouble ove...

I'm only for a coaching change when it's planned and a real upgrade. With Dessie and Bennett out of the equation for years I would challenge Bellamy with lots of money and a return to your roots opportunity to try and tempt him in 2014. Wow that feels a long way away.

At least don't put Croker and Harrison side by side. They look like two turn styles next to each other at a large Costco.
Actually, Maybe sign up the Costco door lady she lets no one past without an ID.

I am pretty sure Carney didn't even consider coming back to the raiders and I think he is trying to move on and start fresh. Or at least that's what I heard him say in an interview.

Hey yap and shadow boxer! you might like to read the comments in this topic that said "we are as bad as last year, or we haven't improved in years" before you take me out of context with your 'hilarious' comments. I was saying, that I think we are playing better than last year. But maybe I...

Whilst we were bad last night we have certainly been better than last year. We still have a long way to go, but we have looked better than 2011 and would have beaten the storm with a fair go from the refs and probably beaten the chooks if not for injury. I am happy to get a new coach but I want us t...

Time to retry our left hand defence, Harrison was ok in attack and made some good hit ups but I think he needs to play closer to the ruck. And Croker just gets beaten too easy too often. We need an experienced second rower who can Marshall the defence on that side. I don't care if they are the worst...

Maybe too big a name but Terry fahey had some great games for the raiders. A triple against easts where he blitzed through defenders was a standout. Terry regan on the angry pills was great too.

Rightly or wrongly a majority of the players support Furner publicly and privately. If you want to rip the club apart and disillusion a number of promising juniors then sack the coach for another coach who hasn't proved to be good enough for an NRL job elsewhere. If Furner fails again this season th...

I think TLL is not 100% fit with his foot injury. Not as explosive as usual. However we still need him in the team and I think he can play a strong middle role by just playing a bit smarter and not relying on his brute power. Take a leaf out of the Brian norrie style older prop and just concentrate ...

Congrats to Furner it really was a great gameplan and totally surprised the opposition. I think the whole coaching staff and management have looked far better this year. Much more imaginative on and off the park. Unlike Parra, it looks like the Raiders took the embarrassment of last year on the chin...

Andrew Barr will try and pretend he is not an AFL man and that he gets accused of being pro union or league. He is trying to kid us all (and himself) He is an afl man and doesn't do enough for league even though it has the highest support on tv and popularity in canberra. The 26 mill is a joke!!! GW...

I think the thurston was coming here until we said no is a bit of a furphy. Shillo outstanding! A bit of footwork before the line had the opposition struggling to get a good hit on him. Civenoceva moves just a little laterally when hitting it up and it allows him to get between defenders when tackled. Tom LL should work on occasional footwork instead of always running strai...

Bruce has never been a great stadium as fans are so far from the action. A roof and closed in tight stadium would be great for fans of all codes and deserved by all canberra supporters. I think buttriss himself has admitted that he has not been fit enough to perform at his peak for 80 mins in a game. From memory he was going to focus on his fitness. Unfortunately Williams defence was well below first grade standard not just with missed tackles but also positioning and communication. He will get there in the coming season or two, but we can't have a liability in defence at this stage of the season.

89 had more highlights in a single game than some entire seasons had.
Big one for me is the fact that until then no grandfinal team had come back from being more than 4 points down at half time in a GF. The 5 metre rule meant that comebacks were rare in this era

I agree that passing to the wingers more often will actually improve their chances of breaking tackles when they do run themselves. I think some teams knew that our centers were unlikely to pass so could compress the defensive line.

I reckon mcrone will setup on average 1 extra try per round. This will be enough to win an extra 2 games in a season - which might be important.
He improved his cover defence as the season wore on. And maybe started to bounce off tackles less as well
Anyway just my speculation

Which Raider performed best in the All Stars match?
Whilst I thought Waddell was better I still thought his passes from dummy half were a bit slow when compared to most nrl level hookers and I thought he threw a few passes forward from dummy half that may have been called in a regular nrl game.
But an improvement no doubt.

Whilst McCrone kicking out on the full to kill momentum was bad it was the fact that this affected the performance of the team as a whole that is more concerning. I think we should make a play for the first outside back who is shopped around by another club early in the season. Every year there are three or four who this happens to. It was Inu and j reddy last year.

Mcrone can beat a man on the outside with his speed and swerve, what he needs to do is have the defence expecting him to beat them this way and at the last second pop the pass to his player outside him. This will really lift his potency. In my unqualified opinion mcrones many missed tackles, were le...

Great post dubby I agree that changing coach or CEO at this time will not greatly improve the club at this point in time. Would also be a highly risky move that could explode. This is the best simple and grass roots idea that the raiders have had in years.
Tough times shake organisations up, so let's hope 2011 is remembered as "the season we had to have"
Keep up the good work off the field and it will flow onto the field

What we need to seek is across the board improvement - let's aim to make the last 4 in week 3 of the finals and then rely on form, skill and a bit of luck.
I would be happy with improvement that looks like our young squad have a chance of winning in 2013 to 2016
It is really hard to win the nrl

From memory during this game Mal Meninga broke his arm for the second time and all the players were pretty down after that. I think he re-broke it against Penrith later in the season (maybe his first game back?).
