Re: Canberra Raiders preparing to start extending grand final heroes

It would be the ultimate betrayal. I hope someone has a quiet word with him. I suspect his agent is having a quiet word to him which might be - “I know you would sooner play for free than leave Canberra but you gotta stop saying that. I know you hate Union and couldn’t think of anything worse than ...

Wightons manger on Macquarie sport now saying Jack's not taking uphis contract in 2021 so nov 1 he will be on the market Putting aside the fact it would be devistating to lose Jack and the argument that the club has been very good to him - if a player like Jack wants to use their limited career tim...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019

The NRL doesn't really have a system for the player market. It has a cap to stop clubs going broke but outside that it's controlled by player managers. If you look at how talent has moved across clubs in the NRL era the market is clearly bias towards teams with easy access to a lot of private money...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019

Also I know it’s probably only rats and mice money but I bet Cooper Cronk would have had more free coffees and lunches in 2 years at Bondi than he did the whole time he was in Melbourne. At times players would enjoy being in town where RL players aren’t recognised, but it would mean having to open t...

I don’t think they can be in Raiders gear in the advertising, it has to be completely separated. But could be wrong... How does the NRL ensure clubs aren’t funding TPAs? For instance the storm pay Fred’s law mowing $1m a year to maintain the small nature strip out the front of Storm HQ and “coincid...

Re: Canberra Raiders preparing to start extending grand final heroes

CNK needs to be bumped up NOW. He should not be on minimum wage next season and to do so would be utter madness He has thoroughly earned a pay rise. Couldn't think of a more deserving person. Cheers BnM - the stats you provided back up what I intuitively thought, although I was surprised how good Cotric’s numbers were in his second year. I thought his rookie year was top shelf and then it been a slow decline but obviously his second year was very good off the numbers you provided. Impres...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019

So if there is no cap on third party deals doesn’t the salary cap become irrelevant? Are we saying if Politis wanted to plough millions into the roosters he can do it via third party deals with no issues? Why then were the storm done for two books? Couldn’t they have run a clean set of compliant bo...

Re: Worst spine in the competition

I have a theory that we rate players performance with a view that is biased by our expectations of them. Players like CNK and Hors benefit from this as expectations at the start of the year weren’t high so we are thrilled when they regularly turn out a 6.5/10 performance. On the other side players l...

CNK has already been upgraded... deal just done. Given he and the club have just agreed it... are people seriously saying already it isn't reasonable? Have I missed something? Re: Worst spine in the competition

CNK will get some improvement out of his ball playing and being match fit/hardened for a full season. But he doesn't have the equipment to be a Slater/RTS/Teddy/Turbo level fullback. The size (Slater excepted) and sheer speed isn't there. His ball playing is a work in progress, we'll see how it com...

Re: Worst spine in the competition

I'll be so disappointed if our spine takes a backwards step next season. I honestly think Wighton has more in him. His kicking game improved immensely as the year went on, his defence and running game is top shelf, it's just that organisation and short passing game that needs a bit of work. I think...

I’m backing him! He looks a real talent. While I’d suggest he would be well served to never put his fingers near anyone’s eyes again I’d also say he actually hasn’t caused any damage to date. Re: Is this last straw for anyone?

There’s laws around the blue shirt trainers and orange shirt trainers. Orange shirts are medical guys for injuries, blue is water runners. Blue can be on the field for 2,3&4 tackles while in possession, and need to go off on 5th. Orange is for injuries. The trainer in the GF was an orange shirt, an...

Yep, our defensive line was a shambles after the dud call and the Roosters exploited it well. Blaming a single player for the situation is Bull. I'm just pleasantly surprised that Croker wasn't somehow blamed for it this time. Haha remember how Billy Walker and his boys continually told us Croker w...

Re: Rapana wants to stay with Raiders

I think the raiders have played this very well and hold all the cards in both these negotiations with Raps and BJ. Neither would be expecting an upgrade, nobody will truly scream if one or both are cut and there is a fair chance both could be in green on terms that better suit the club going forward...

Latrell Mitchell gets the nod ahead of Croker who was a sentimental favourite to be picked. Croker could end up being the only Raiders legend not to play rep footy at the highest le...

I said before the game Sutton should have been in the team in place of Lui. Lui works incredibly hard, and I do admire him for what he’s achieved. The team is going to be quite a bit different. For one we're going to have George Williams and Wighton in the halves, not Wighton and Sezer... that'll change how the team plays straight away... the hope is George is a willing and capable defender and can add some much needed creativity to the side....

Re: Will next year be different to 2016

I think you need to continually evolve to stay near the pointy end. Not wholesale turnover just constant refinement. In my view the biggest thing in Raiders favour for 2020 is the fact that I can’t recall Ricky making a single bad call in 2019. There is a good feel about things!
