Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Game Day
Anslie said in his briefing it’s six again. Whilst you may be correct he didn’t allude to that. And often if the play breaks down they consider it your fault and continue on. I.e six again, then you drop the ball is still considered a knock on and a scrum. As I mentioned before though, if you’re goi...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Game Day
Actually I had a thought about the charge down. Penalty for the charge down is 6 again. Let’s say it gets blown. Foran is still taking that kick and Chevy is still charging it down. Then Titans knock on. Then it’s Raiders ball. Nothing changes the outcome here even if it’s called offside. Chevy is n...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Game Day
yeah - they really buried the lead in that story. If you're going to reinterpret the game with hindsight, then you have to reinterpret the whole game, not just the bits that suit your narrative. i.e. blow all the 6 agains, sin bin titans players etc etc. Even in GP time, there is some pretty horrid ...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Game Day
Man what a great game. 12 months ago we lost that game - easily. Titans did not play like a team that lost the last 5. They played up 2 or 3 gears, we did really really well against them. I thought Casey did a great job - but bloody hell they were all over us, all the time.(and I know we got a lot o...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
of note, with the Wighton salary saga - he left Raiders to play Centre. And NRL deemed that whilst he was moving for less $$, the $$ Souths paid for a Centre were market rate, so nothing to see here... Not saying I agree, but that was the justification used. In fairness, so far he has played 100% of...

Re: 2024 Round 3 v Warriors: Game Day
Probably late to the party here, but I was ok with our game. Sure we lost, and thats sad. But in years gone by we would have leaked points, dropped balls, kicked out on the full etc etc and been well and truly thumped. The fact we were in that game up to our eyeballs all the way is a great sign of t...

I am somewhat less fussed then you lot about the team selections. The current Raiders captain was always coming straight back in. That was never in doubt. Not a great choice, but never in doubt. However, all of the players who are interviewed keep commenting on how they are feeling the pressure of t...

Re: 2024 Trial 2 v Cowboys: Teams and Game Day
Actually, its probably cause Ricky is going to play Raps at FB, and doesn't want to risk him in a trial. I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy comes on later - he only made 50 minutes last week before cramping up - so some match fitness needed there.
More interesting is Xavier at Wing for the second time.

actually, interesting side note. JWH from the Roosters is in exactly the same boat as Kris. (the All-Stars match doesn't count, even though he's been selected before, and would have been selected this time) So there is, oddly, consistency in the NRL's inconsistent decision making.

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders injury/suspension update
I suspect, that whilst the Raiders are hopeful of that outcome, they are probably resigned to him not playing round 1. I suspect their real reasons are: 1)Firmly and loudly supporting Kris - both behind the scenes and in the media 2)Continue to establish a reputation as being willing to call the NRL...

Trial's are a funny thing. If you get spanked you say "well its only a trial and it doesn't count", if you are the Spanker you still say "well its only a trial and it doesn't count..." For me the most notable thing across the park was speed, and speed in spades. Weaks/Stewart/Sav...

Re: Toughest preseason ever 2024
Little things could be like. When you are up by 10, with 10 to go, don’t throw risky low percentage passes. Take the tackle. Grind out that last 10. I am thinking of that St George game in particular. But all the big teams do it. When they have a good lead, they put the low percentage plays away. Ma...

Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024
As I have mentioned before, Levi played all year in Cup. So despite playing in round 1, he never made it back to 1st grade. If Ricky believes Levi is so good, and by extension better then Zac, why didn't Levi play 1st grade at all? By all accounts and the views of the GH, as soon as Levi was fit he ...

Re: Raiders reject request from Dragons to release Zac Woolford
What makes the whole Levi thing even more interesting, is when he did come back from his broken jaw and had played a number of cup games, he still didn't get called up to first grade. If Ricky loves him so - then why wasn't he called up? If Zac is better than Levi, then why are we looking at letting...

When I look at 2023 Jack, we win some games with him in the team and we lose some games with him in the team. I didn’t see any games we won OR lost solely because of him. oh, and in context of trusting NRL to investigate. It did also come out that Storm was on their Radar as having far too many good players. They had investigated them and found nothing - until literally the books were placed in their hands. So no, I think their competence here is low, not high.

The NRL investigation found they weren’t aware. They didn’t sign two contracts, rather some conditions were in side letters which the club hid. Side letters are common legal practice. I know people won’t accept the explanation, but it’s been given and the players cleared. And you trust the NRL runn...

An immortal is meant to embody something above and beyond that of the Hall of Fame peeps. They know they were involved in it, the NRL knows the players ...
