Re: ACT government looks to formalise community in Canberra Raiders contract

The provision of "real" public goods is different issue. There is actually a strong economic justification for locating key public service departments alongside the seat of government, the parliament - but others need to be spread geographically. Public goods have different characteristics, and hav...

Re: ACT government looks to formalise community in Canberra Raiders contract

I think the fact that Wagga Wagga has a much much higher than Australian average proportion of people working in State and Federal Government related Military, University, Health and Social Services is the key reason for the towns population growth. Not because they put on some Council funded event...

Re: ACT government looks to formalise community in Canberra Raiders contract

To be honest, the incentives for events provided by State and Territory governments are probably a complete waste of taxpayers' money. They shift economic activity from one location to another but they create a deadweight loss on the economy (because it has an efficiency cost - that is, it subsidis...

Re: ACT government looks to formalise community in Canberra Raiders contract

I don't really understand this conversation... why WOULDN'T the incentive to bring an out of town, other code team to Canberra be more than the teams that already play out of your town every second week? Makes perfect sense to me. Thats a fair point. There is lesser need to incentivise teams to pla...

"The Raiders and Brumbies are constantly visiting schools and helping out in the Canberra community, but Berry wanted more people to know about it." Curious that she doesn't mention the GWS Giants. Wighton has an injury he's been carrying. I'd replace him with Sezer for one week to allow him to recover. Then, it's back to the old firm unless Sezer can set the field on fire with Williams. Personally, I doubt that scenario will happen. IMO, Williams has looked like a team player during the trial...

2 - Whitehead. Another great game
2 - Williams. When as tough a halves task-master as Sticky says he's done a good job, you've got to take it on board.
2 - CNK saved the tries where Croker missed his man.

Also, a quick nod to Bateman who does a good job of assisting Williams in defence and to Williams who is really making a good fist of directing the team around the field and putting on some plays as well.

The other thing is the lack of clarity on what the Federal Government intends to do with the AIS precinct. ACT Government can't buy and upgrade what isn't for sale yet.

Re: Raiders Indigenous Jersey

If you want to do this as a marketing exercise, you simply do the jersey with the player's number on the back and his debut number or whatever it's called on the front. e.g. Papalii would have 8 on the back and 300 on the front.

Why do you need names? The only reason you would need names is if you have squad numbers rather than position numbers Yeah i get that, but I just feel as a sport they're/we're missing a trick from a merchandise perspective. People buy their Gerrard 8s, Curry 30s, Gronk 87s - they'd get right behind...

I assume that people can follow two sports and that there are other sports and non sports fans they could have drawn fans from. I would say the majority of fans fall into that category. Cotric down in confidence I reckon. Last year he doesn't pass that. Him and Whitehead as well. Neither of them are playing to the standard to which they're capable. Sammy, on the other hand, has finally become the steady hand on the wheel we've needed at half. His kicking game has ramped up 100%. H...

Check your defamation laws from State to State versus ACT and then see what what the onus is on you vis a vis internet.

I'm going to bet that Ricky gives him one more chance, but if he stuffs up, Sammy will be wearing the number 7. Sammy looks ripped and he's playing for a contract extention. If we get George, Sammy will be the back-up.

We've had a lot of rain today, so I expect handling will be difficult and both teams will find it hard to play their natural style.
