Re: NRL says marquee content on table if Canberra builds stadium

I'm thinking of going to the Brumbies' final home game, but I'll need to check whether it clashes with the Raiders' game. Heck, I'll even pay for my own ticket for a change, LOL. I've followed them since their first season, but I've only paid for a ticket twice in all that time. Freebies from the ba...

The way injuries are going, Luke Bateman might get into the 17 again once he's recovered.

Re: 2019 Rd 12 V Bulldogs: Teams and Previews

John Bateman has only returned to full time training after spending time back in England with his family. I doubt he'll be called back this soon. There seems to be some concern about Tapine getting injured again. Blooding so many players early in the season is turning into a master stroke by Stuart....

The players have forgotten what was working for them immediately after the Storm game and that was moving up in defence and smothering the opposition. Far too often yesterday, they did as they have done so often in the past -- waited for the ball-carrier to come to them rather than killing his momen...

The Brumbies would love to have someone who can kick at above 60%. My problem with Croker lately is that he has been making some very poor defensive reads for the past 3-4 weeks and these have usually resulted in tries. Simonsson is still too inexperienced to make up for these poor reads and decidin...

Re: NRL says marquee content on table if Canberra builds stadium

I think we should be concerned about the low crowd figures for Brumbies games –- averaging just over 8,000 people per game and last Friday was below 7,000. That sort of thing threatens their viability and seeing as there's still no A League soccer side here, the justification for a new stadium is di...

Re: Joey Leilua has successful surgery, but out for the season

No one is suggesting releasing a NZ rep player, the question is do you renew his contract, as it is about to expire. And in my mind, Croker is no longer suited to the wing - for me the game has evolved to a point where the focal point of a wingers game these days is rucking it out of your own end a...

Re: Joey Leilua has successful surgery, but out for the season

With the injuries we've had so far, how can anyone be talking about releasing a NZ international? Croker tends to get an injury towards the end of the season. So, we need someone who can come in at centre. Cotric switches to the left and Joey comes in on the right. That said, we have no idea whether...

I don’t even know why it’s getting spoken about. They will name Dugan in the centres like usual. Dugan wasn't there last year. Brad Fittler doesn't mind rolling the dice on new players. That's why Dugan and Ferguson weren't there last year. I think he will go with mostly players from last year. The...

I'm pretty sure you're describing Sam Williams to a tee. Great clubman. Well liked by team. Can pinch hit the NRL for 1-3 weeks when needed but other than that not NRL standard. From the area so you dont' have to pay overs. No other club wants him as their starting half, no real competition to driv...

I'd rather give Oldfield a chance to cement his spot rather than shuffle players around. Remember: nobody had even heard of Cotric before he was picked to replace Edrick Lee. At least we've seen what Oldfield can do. The question mark seems to be whether he can contain Mitchell, who we might face tw...

Some reckoned Sam would be 'terrorized' against the Panthers. It didn't look that way to me. Bigger test this week against the in form Lattrell and Cordner. Quick question: anyone know what Williams' stats are for try assists? He seems to have put up a few pinpoint kicks that have led to tries. Apart from that, he made Edrick Lee's life difficult a few weeks ago with some kicks that came down in the corner and a few metres from the in-goal. He's come up...

At the start of this season, Whitehead and Cotric were being mentioned as being down on confidence and not playing to their standard.

I'm hoping Rapana and Whitehead will be okay to play next week. Whitehead was having his knee looked at towards the end of the game. I don't think we'll see Murchie next week. My only gripe with Williams is that so far, he's averaging on 9 metres run per game. That's not going to throw any questions into the opposition's heads. However, he usually only gets the ball to set up his outside backs or to kick. Hodgson needs to step back and even things out between Williams and...
