Re: Canberra Raiders centre Nick Cotric facing three to four weeks on the sideline

Is the charge based on how dangerous the position was or the nature of the intent? There was no intent in that tackle but the final position was very dangerous. I would think that the tackle where there are multiple players involved is more dangerous but wouldn’t necessarily be referred straight to ...

Re: Cotric and the judiciary

Rewatched this again this morning and by the time Lafai hits the ground Cotric has almost completely lost contact with him. It really was just a copybook tackle that went wrong due to Lafai stepping back inside late. The worst charges should be for when there are multiple players in the tackle and o...

Re: 2019 Rd 15 V Eels: Game Day

Eels forward Peni Terepo has been hit with a grade-two reckless high tackle charge following an incident involving Jordan Rapana in the 28th minute of Parramatta's win over Canberra in Darwin. Terepo will miss three weeks if he enters an early guilty plea but risks a four-match ban if he challenges...

Re: 2019 Rd 15 V Eels: Game Day

The last 50 minutes of that game were disgusting and we clearly didn’t have anyone out there who could stop the rot. It’s a real shame because for the first 30-35 minutes we were near perfect. We threw away a shot at consolidating a spot in the top 4, essentially with poor ball control and stupid pe...

It will be interesting to see what Burgess cops for his effort last night. Referred straight to the judiciary so could be a very long suspension given his form.

Here's the article I referred to above https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/04/04/the-2019-nrl-draw-analysed-sydney-clubs-easily-get-the-best-deal/ It's a pretty good analysis of the draw. The fact that Melbourne have been top of the table consistently for years proves that there are much bigger factors ...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

If we are to be genuine contenders, then no excuses are acceptable. All this talk about 5 day turnaround needs to stop. It is what it is,just get on with it. Complaints or excuses won't change anything. Look, I think most people are on board with not excusing losses from the team’s perspective. But...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

From my perspective with the position we have put ourselves in a top 4 finish is in our hands. We could easily still stuff it up in lots of different ways but at this point we don’t need luck or other results to go our way, we just need to play good footy and win the games we should. Most of our win...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

If we want to be contenders the next 5 games are critical. Eels Dragons Tigers Panthers Warriors Win 4 of these and add the bye and we are basically guaranteed to make the 8. Chooks Storm Sea eagles Sharks We probably need to win 2 of these to make the top 4 and knocking off either the storm or choo...

Croker could definitely do with a good redemption story. No one really likes a clean skin in the NRL it doesn't sell papers when they don't **** up and it doesn't sell papers when they return to form!

If Croker wants to get picked for origin he is going to need to grow an afro, get some dreadlocks or change his name to something amusing. These seem to be far important criteria in getting picked for NSW than skill or form. Playing for one of the big Sydney clubs doesn't hurt the chances either! Cr...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

If you finish in the top 4 you only need to win 3-4 games in a row to win it all. At our best we certainly have the defence to put ourselves in those big games and it has been much more consistent this season than previously. I don’t feel like we are in the position where you’d be confident we woul...

Sia could have easily been penalised near the end where the Sharks player was trying to get up and play the ball and he was still holding on. I don't think it was the wrong call but you often see those go the other way and if it had I don't know if we would have held on. There were some shady calls ...

There’s a huge amount to take out of that win. It was ugly and the Sharks certainly dragged us down to their level but they are a very good football team. The Sharks got off their line quickly for most of the game and made it really hard for us to get any momentum. It was great seeing Wighton put Cr...

It has been a very astute move from the club to being Ennis in to the coaching ranks. Have to agree with all the comments here about the defence and the travelling fans. One thing that doesn’t seem to have got much of a mention is Tarpine. His first tackle set the tone for the game and he ran hard in both his stints. He’s a great asset to the team and still isn’t back to his absolute...

I absolutely loved the way we played our footy tonight. Key players out and everyone ripped in 100%. We’ve made it through the hard part of the draw and need to make it count over the next 4-5 weeks and if we can reproduce that effort we will win most of them. There are plenty of howlers from NRL referees. It's the downtown rule, no? The official even called our guy out, and he got involved anyways. Without using it as an excuse the lopsided penalty count was uncharacteristic of other games that round and also across the season. Always tough to win at brookvale and we never seemed to recover after rapana was injured. In the second half we were never able to create any pressure. We did a reasonable job of soaking it up other than a 15-20 minute period where we allowed them to offload at will. It was pleasing that we managed ...
