Re: Michael Ennis

I also think that having Ennis in the club and on fox means the raiders are discussed more often and more positively. He always has good things to say about the raiders club and players and that is a huge benefit over basically being completely ignored. He is clearly a natural pest and that was just...

Re: Watching games numerous times

I also think someone like Lui is a great example of someone who has just been doing a job consistently and over a couple of years we are now seeing him do a bit more. Throw a couple of passes, come up with a critical strip etc. I would also think that he has earned the right to play a bit more footy...

Re: Watching games numerous times

Young is a very good First Grader and I'd put money on Ricky being a huge fan. I reckon he would have been in our Finals teams last year instead of Guler had he not been suspended. Agreed. I also think that Ricky has asked players like young to focus on doing a job and playing a simple game. I’m su...

Re: 2020 Rd 12 V Cowboys: Game Day

Well. It was an ugly win but we still got it done. I think it is being underestimated how much teams are aiming up against us this season and the toll this takes on the team. Last season we were still under the radar to some degree but this year everyone is up when they play against us. I think we a...

Re: 2020 Rd 12 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

It's hard to judge this without knowing the full story behind it. I'd imagine that for any jersey the design would need to be completed months before the date to ensure production. I wouldn't know whether this is done during the off season, earlier this season or even last year. If it was done over ...

Re: 2020 Rd 12 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

On Young, and all of our less experienced players coming through at the moment I am almost certain we are not seeing them play at their full potential yet. I am certain that they have been asked by Stuart to play a very simple roll that enables them to focus on what they need to get done. For Young ...

Re: Watching games numerous times

It was really clear in rewatching that our senior players really stepped up and did the little things that made the difference while the young players just did their jobs. It makes such a big difference having a stable team with quality players to bring juniors into rather expecting a rookie to make...

I loved the look on his face when he scored his try. Was an excellent grab and well finished.

Great to see the team get around him too. Cotric made it over there pretty quickly.

I hope he smashes it for many years to come!

* Wanted to clarify something earlier in the thread. I mentioned Crokers flick pass to Whitehead being a low IQ play. Just to be clear - am obviously a huge fan of Croker as a player, but that doesn’t make him immune from criticism. At 10-0 up, after dominating, in the rain - I don’t think a flick ...

That was a really gutsy win from a team that is down on troops and having to make positional adjustments mid game. I completely agree with Ricky that it shows the character of the team that they found a way to win that game because there was every opportunity to lose and and plenty of excuses to jus...

Re: Cotric signs with Bulldogs on $2 million three year deal

It’s a shame to lose Cotric, I live watching him play but he’s probably going to the club with the worst current salary cap management of any team. They are desperate and this decision could easily come back to bite them. The club clearly have big wraps on some of the younger players who can come in...

That was a brave effort from the team. All heart! I reckon that was Lui’s best game as a raider and he showed why Ricky values him so highly. Really good in attack and defence. We’ve looked flat for weeks. Hopefully a couple of genuine home games in a row will help the lads find some energy. It’s clear that edge needs a bit of work on their defensive patterns and communication which isn’t surprising given there are 3 changes from last year. They need to trust the middle to cover up while they stay on their players instead of jamming in. Our set starts haven’t been going well across the ...

Good call by the coach to give the players the chance to atone for that rubbish performance last week. I would expect the team to respond well although coming up against the Tigers in a very ...

really fast, will be interesting if it looks like 2001 when parra dominated off fast dummy half scoots Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk That is the risk with making the ruck too fast. So presumably everyone is a fan of the new rules after a great weekend of footy?

Certainly sped up the game and made it more attacking.

I’m sure it will be a hit different once players and coaches get used to it but it certainly seems like a step in the right direction to me!

Very pleasing to go down to Melbourne and come back with the points. I didn’t think we’d be able to do it without Bateman so that’s an extra bonus! The storm were well below their best and did some very uncharacteristic things. A prop kicking was definitely one of those. That said their quick men ca...

Yeah, I can see what this rule is trying to do, but I think it's going to be controversial with teams exploiting it and make the referee's job difficult. It’s hard for referees at the moment but the impact of a penalty on the game means that a lot of ruck infringements are let go because of the sig...

I think the 6 again rule change is a good one although referees still need to be able to penalise if they feel it is warranted. Often tuck infringements are a deliberate tactic to slow momentum of an attacking team as the defending team scrambles back and a penalty actually kills the momentum and al...

One thing I have noticed watching a few games this weekend is that we seem to have a tackler left behind the play of the ball more often than any other team. This means we often have one marker or are a player short in the defensive line. There does seem to be a strategy of not giving away penalties...

Re: Will next year be different to 2016

On the unrelated point, I wonder if our defence would have been more organised if CNK had stayed on and if we would have stopped the last try but it's hard to know. He had given absolutely everything and was a potential liability out there given how fatigued he was.
