Re: 11, 12, 13

Not only is Bateman the best man for the middle, he also plays his best football in the middle, and prefers it there, he’s said as much himself. And Tapine and Whitehead both play their best football on the edges and prefer it there. This one isn’t rocket surgery, it’s strange to me that it’s even ...

Re: Croker for Blues right centre?

Sounds like we're reading tea leaves. Freddy got the culture pretty right last time. If he decides Fergo is a better bet than Cotric to keep that going (when talent is on par & age favours Cotric) then Freddy is as dumb as he sounds (prepared to entertain the current argument that he is not dumb, j...

Re: 2019 Rd 11 V Cowboys: Teams and Previews

Canberra Raiders closer than past fortnight suggests It was Canberra's second close loss in two weeks, but don’t try and compare this current iteration of the side to the one that made narrow defeats an art form last season. "We've given ourselves opportunities to be in the fight and they're two of...

Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Game Day

Fair enough, it's improving but it is still a deficiency in our attack at this point in time. He looks like a smart player and a guy willing to learn so I think his passing game will pick up dramatically the more time he spends in the top grade. I'm still worried he doesn't have that acceleration an...

Re: Croker for Blues right centre?

I don’t think Fittler hates the Raiders at all and I know I’m in a minority but I think he’s got more footy smarts than most pundits in the game but poor articulation. I think he’s less likely to pick a Raider because he’s one of the most Sydney centric people in the game. Imagine the volume of NSWR...

Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Game Day

Hope so GE. I think the key to the sweep is the initial pace from behind the ruck to create the extra man before the defence can shift. I think that and some other stats i've seen show that Jack is deceptively quick and helped him get really good at that play.

Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Game Day

I was pretty happy with that performance, we're going alright. Dunno if already mentioned but the main issues that I think need addressing: - Too one-dimensional and predictable in the opposition 20. Need to work on some variety to eliminate the endless crash balls. - Need to find a way to get CNK m...

I don’t think size is an issue really because he’d probably be marking Michael Morgan.
Yeah fair point but will they know that for sure when at the selection table? Morgan being played out of position would even up the margin for Croker changing sides too.

Re: Croker for Blues right centre?

This exact issue has had me pondering the left side/right side player thing. It is interesting that it seems those specialist threequarters are so specific to their role these days that changing them to the other side of the field could be a disaster in the way they pass, or read the defence or even...

No way you move Wighton. I wasn’t a fan of his move to 5/8 but he is proving me wrong, if he continues the way he is he will be wearing the number 6 for years to come. He is not at 5/8 for a stop gap, he is there to develop long term. Sent from my iPhone using The Greenhouse Agreed. I love what I'm...

Re: Joey Leilua out for the year?

I'm glad the Club is getting another opinion. Some doctors have vastly different opinions on treatment. It must be hard to continue in a contact sport, particularly with BJs alpha male playing style. I agree with the side selected in that Oldfield will get first crack at right center. Why shuffle 2...

Re: Joey Leilua out for the year?

Terrible luck if he is out for the year. He must have been close to Origin when you look at the right centre options and how poorly Roberts is going.

Turn a negative into a positive and give Cotric a go there like others have been saying. That would be our best option.

I agree with you both Edwahu and NR, Jack is more likely to do something so gets the ball. That makes perfect sense to me. I just think it's funny that given how many close losses we have had with Sezer running the ship the past few years we turn on his replacement so quickly. Williams isn't setting the world on fire but he is doing enough to help the team get over the line. I would think his error count is very low am...

I would be aiming for the least disruption possible. We want the same middle rotations that have been winning us games to give us the best chance against the benchmark. Sia leads that energy at the first interchange, I wouldn’t want to mess with that. Agree with Whitehead on the right so the best op...

Most of the major points are covered but just a few other short ones. That was easily Whitehead's best game of the year on both sides of the ball. I was really impressed with his game. Because if the hooker doesn't go himself, he prefers to pass the ball to Jack. Or it could be a coach directive, your guess is as good as mine. As I said 3 weeks ago, we are a team of ball carriers. Defense was excellent. Same with Oldfield on that same side. Looked like an Achilles heel pre-game but they stood up to the test. He still needs to do more with the ball. Only 21 touches compared to Jack's 51. 0 run metres from those 21 gets as well. Too much catch and pass stuff. I agree with you ...
