Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
Yeah but I reckon Schiller’s ceiling is high. Probably higher than Asomua’s from what I’ve seen. Completely disagree Reckon Asomua’s ceiling is significantly higher More well rounded player. But we’ll see! Schiller outside of Ponga should be a fun time. Better player than Jenkins and Tuala imo Haha...

And I’d have hoped the promise of Rapa’s spot from next season would’ve been enough.
But maybe the Knights offered big money.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
I don't know how Trevilyan found himself on the bench in reserve grade but after Sunday we now know he can kick and has pace and I haven't seen a leap like that one to take a short kick off for a long time. He's played some AFL by the look of it. He's certainly not kicking stones. He's been hiding ...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Chevy Stewart to debut
Credit to Ricky for making the right choices this week. I would have been very unhappy to see one or both of: A. Guler brought back in to replace Hors B. Kris moved to fullback and Cotric brought into centre. I think both of the above were highly possible and would have been classic Ricky selection...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Chevy Stewart to debut
Excellent team and so pumped for Chevy and Trey. Hope they both kill it. Horse is unlucky. No Origin for him. Can’t help but wonder if coming back underdone contributed to it. Classic way to get a groin injury. And I hate seeing Rapa injured. Hopefully, he recovers and plays out the rest of the seas...

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Teams and Previews
Starling has had some great moments this season, including when he stopped a charging Marzhew one-on-one, which allowed he and Papa to drive Marzhew back in goal. He’s had other big defensive efforts like that and his energy is noticeable most weeks. That said, his attacking influence is minimal. Ot...

I love Tapine and he was good last night but how the hecks does he get the same points as Timoko? Timoko massacred the Eels. If Manu or Crichton or Best or Staggs did that, there’d be six articles on Fox Sports. They don't watch or at least don't pay any attention to the games and then just pick th...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
If he was genuinely on the market for 500k then he is a great buy, but he probably isn't signing to play fullback for that. I'd gladly take him as a winger for that price anyway. I'd also ask who was the last gun NRL winger that converted to fullback successfully? I dunno, RTS? The Hammer. I think ...

Looked the goods in 2019. But since 2021 when he came back from his injury suffered against St George in 2020, there’s been countless complaints in the match threads about us losing momentum when Guler comes on - due to his slow play the balls , dropped balls, penalties or dumb **** plays in genera...

Ricky in presser admits we lost to 2nd grade team.. blames individuals.. not himself ofcourse. He's holding the players to accountability Was it Ricky who was lazy or Savage? Was it Ricky giving it up on the 5th, or Fogarty? Was it Ricky dropping a simple pass or Horsburgh? Was it Ricky making a ba...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
I’m not sure I’d go as far as to use the term “system” - as the key messages of our system seems to consist of “get in the grind”, “don’t make mistakes” and “bleed green”. However, we do have is a strong culture that gets good effort out of the playing group more often than not, and a number of pro...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
Genuinely curious... can anyone name me an elite edge forward in modern history who has performed consistently at his potential when playing in a bottom 4 team? There is a reason why you (probably) cant. In the modern game of RL, there is no position more reliant on the halves, structure and qualit...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
It’s very unlikely he’d come but if he did, I think a part of the decision would be to see if he can go from the ‘good when he’s hot’ guy to a guy who’s consistently great. I also think he would get there under Ricky. So when we talk about whether he’s worth it or not, I factor in that he’d potentia...

So, you want to drop a QLD origin rep for a fringe first grader? Not sure if this was directed at my comment that Trey would be justified in feeing ripped off. I would pick Horse for sure. I’m a massive fan of his. He’s an auto selection in my books. What I meant was Trey was given the 18th man spo...

Agree that this is another kick in the teeth for Mooney. As 18th man, he should rightly expect to be first man in after an injury.
The only thing that makes it slightly better is we lost a second-rower from the bench and Horse is a better replacement for the edge should it be needed.

If Rapa didn't miss 5 seasons of footy between 2009-2013, he could be playing his 350th game by now. Then again, perhaps his hiatus protected his body, giving rise to his current longevity. Not many outside backs still running around at 34-35 and delivering much quality footy. Rapa is a beast. Yeah...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
Guler/Saulo might start or bench at other clubs, but other clubs concentrate their spending in the spine, so are happy to take a hit in other positions. It's a model that works for them but with our spine, and inability to recruit marquee spine players, would be catastrophic for us. We need the Tap...

I may be wrong but I think Ricky will bring back Hoppa when his burns heal but will drop him for Schiller/Chevy/Asomua later in the season. And next year when Rapa’s spot frees up, it’ll be one of those other guys taking it.
Ricky is slow. So very slow. But I think he’ll get there on this one.

No way Rapa plays in ressies. Ever. He asks for a run in 2043, he goes straight back into the starting side. But I think this should be his last year just to preserve his legacy. I don’t want him hanging on one year too long like others have. I want future generations to do a double-take when they r...

An excellent forward pack who know there are 2-4 guys with very good claim to their spots aiming up against a decent pack without three of their usuals.
A halfback who’s consistently kicked to our advantage.
And outside backs with genuine pace and the ability to beat defenders.
I’m excited.

Good to see him lock down a position. Savage is our no 1 winger now Cotric has really regressed Correct. Congratulations to Ricky.
I’ve had regular frustrations with several facets of his coaching but he’s done so much for the club and deserves some recognition for this achievement.
