Re: Why Corey Parker is off Ricky Stuart’s Christmas card list
This may be controversial and I’m not saying it as a reaction to the article or Parker’s commentary but I always thought he was overrated as a player. I know, I know, he has an incredible record, 340+ games, heaps for QLD and Australia, several individual awards, I know. He was definitely a good pla...

If Rapa didn't miss 5 seasons of footy between 2009-2013, he could be playing his 350th game by now. Then again, perhaps his hiatus protected his body, giving rise to his current longevity. Not many outside backs still running around at 34-35 and delivering much quality footy. Rapa is a beast. Yeah...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
Guler/Saulo might start or bench at other clubs, but other clubs concentrate their spending in the spine, so are happy to take a hit in other positions. It's a model that works for them but with our spine, and inability to recruit marquee spine players, would be catastrophic for us. We need the Tap...

I may be wrong but I think Ricky will bring back Hoppa when his burns heal but will drop him for Schiller/Chevy/Asomua later in the season. And next year when Rapa’s spot frees up, it’ll be one of those other guys taking it.
Ricky is slow. So very slow. But I think he’ll get there on this one.

No way Rapa plays in ressies. Ever. He asks for a run in 2043, he goes straight back into the starting side. But I think this should be his last year just to preserve his legacy. I don’t want him hanging on one year too long like others have. I want future generations to do a double-take when they r...

Whatever kick training he did over the off season we need to bottle it and pass it along to everyone that comes through the system. 100% agree Zim. I reckon the Raiders will be pointing out to the Colonel the improved kicking game of Fog and saying "look at the skills development path for you&...

An excellent forward pack who know there are 2-4 guys with very good claim to their spots aiming up against a decent pack without three of their usuals.
A halfback who’s consistently kicked to our advantage.
And outside backs with genuine pace and the ability to beat defenders.
I’m excited.

Good to see him lock down a position. Savage is our no 1 winger now Cotric has really regressed Correct. Hoppa is also ahead of him and I’d dare say Schiller and Asomua would be too if given a chance, which they should get next time there’s an injury. Worryingly, I’m not seeing the usual desperatio...

Congratulations to Ricky.
I’ve had regular frustrations with several facets of his coaching but he’s done so much for the club and deserves some recognition for this achievement.

Ata played 32 minutes last week. This is Hosking’s spot but surely Elliott won’t play 80, so could also get 25 minutes when Elliott is on the bench.
So I’m hoping Hosking plays around 50-55 minutes and expect Elliott to play a similar amount.

The captain should be someone who's undroppable, that's why it should have been Tapine. That was the first mistake, making Whitehead captain in the first place. Many great players have stepped down as captain towards the end of their careers All our captains seem to be droppable - Croker, Hodgson i...

The team was the most likely but disappointing. I can handle Cotric over Schiller/others and I understand needing to bring the captain back in despite also thinking he’s not in our best 17 on ability. But I think a reasonable compromise would’ve been to start Elliott on the bench. This would’ve been...

Further to this, there is big weight on Fogarty. His kicking game alone got us in great position last week. We can’t afford for him to be off. Last year, he had those moments where he was kicking well. This is amplified by the fact that if our game plan is for him to take 99% of the kicks, he needs...

Just on Hoppa, I wonder what the forum’s thoughts would be if someone else came into the team and got 166m, 1 try assist,1 line break assist and 2 offloads from centre and whether we wouldn’t be a touch more positive in our reviews of his performance. Most astute viewers won’t let 1 game sway their...

I don’t mind that Godfather offer at all. The money has to be used, so let’s gamble on the best young halfback going around.
I think Sanders is the real deal but suspect it might take longer for him to get there than some of us hope (or are expecting).

I also wonder if CNK would’ve been so emotional in his last game at the club if he’d been shafted so badly.

Anyone else think Hoppa could play the 17 instead of Guler? Surely he could provide cover for an edge if needed? Do we need three props on the bench? Yep. He’s effectively a prop anyway. He just doesn’t defend in the middle. But his best quality is his almost indefatigable work rate, which we don’t...

Ricky will only change what he has too. Kris for Hoppa would be my bet. However, I can see a world where Cotric is put and Hoppa moves to the right wing. I'd be moving on from Guler. He dud nothing good the other night , and was very lucky not to be in the bin for a hip drop. That would have defini...

Elliot as the captain comes back in when fit. But he’ll be under pressure if others continue to perform. That’s a pretty consistent approach made by clubs for over a century of rugby league. Look i understand that, but that's the problem with naming a captain who was underperforming to begin with. ...
