Re: 2, 4, and 14

I really hate to say this, and hopefully I get it ‘shoved in my face’ for the finals, but for me the based purely on who is best for the positions available it would be: 2. Simmonsen - just doesn’t put a foot wrong, breaks tackles, doesn’t make errors 4. BJ - game breaker, and I hope his 2 week bre...

No way Ricky is taking this game lightly. It's just not his style. Resting guys with niggles just shows he thinks we are a legitimate chance of going the whole way and is planning for another month of footy. And I don't see how resting those guys means the rest of the team will phone it in. Most of...

Re: Retain or release?

Rapana last year and beyond was the best winger in the NRL by a fair margin. Since then he has had injuries which have caused some drop in form and effectiveness, but he is still a top class NRL winger. But time, the enemy of all physical players, is not on his side. He probably only has three seas...

Jordy is a shadow of his former self. Based on current form I'd release him. But I think injury has interfered with his form at present. The rest I don't know enough about, and tend to think whatever. Sent from my SM-G960F using The Greenhouse mobile app powered by Tapatalk I definitely think it’s ...

Re: 2019 Rd 24 V Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

I re-watched the second half of the Manly game. I’d mostly put down the loss to key errors/poor decisions and less so to the refereeing, which I’d considered more pedantic than anything. However, on second viewing, the refereeing had far more impact. Firstly, the big calls were more influential tha...

My initial thoughts are why extend now? Lets see how we back up from this year first. Thinking further I believe the club needs to act soon to solidify the coaching position now for recruitment and retention purposes. We have a number of players coming off contract next year and the situation where...

The old one is a classic but has done it's time. The new one is a good revamp of the current one. I agree with posters above, it's cleaner and sharper. The Raiders podcast one is good for the podcast but not the right style for the team. I'd like to see anything new be a slightly less stylised logo ...

Re: 2019 Rd 22 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Early in the game last week our whole back 5 struggled to make inroads in yardage sets and it really is very 1 out from either dummy half or one pass wide. It is a very conservative approach but unless you can win a penalty or generate a quick play of the ball it means you will be kicking from deep...

Ricky has already stated that Leilua will be named in the 21 man squad and it will be his call as to whether he thinks he is ready or not. Doubt Leilua will turn down the opportunity to play his 200th game, at home, against his former side. Yeah, you don’t often hear a coach say, “We let him decide...

There's players in the squad that provide better defence and he's been literally playing as a 4th running forward everytime Hodgo is there. All the more reason to keep him. You don’t even need a 4th running forward when both second rowers play 80. Sacrificing the hooker coverage for someone who is ...

Horsburgh really showed his class this game. Offloads galore, quick play the balls, hard to bring down. 147m off the bench. Kid is going to be a menace once his fitness improves. Liked what I saw from Guler too but he looks like he'll peak a bit later. We're in a great position for 2021 when Sia ca...

Daily Telegraph is reporting he is likely to be released to join Huddersfield, coached by Simon Woolford. And there's no way the club will pay overs and jeopardise the horde of talented guys we need to keep. Agree re his training and behaviour But I’d draw the line here. It's all relative to his pay packet though isnt it? If Bateman is a back of the roster min wage re-signing then i think that is perfectly fine. You hope you never need him but if you do, he's got a high work rate (albeit with minimal to no impact), he's a reasonably effecient tackler in the middle....

Last year the Raiders had 10 opportunities all season to escape the ingoal. We got out once. This year, we’ve had 9 opportunities, and got out 6 times. His positioning is incredible really. Fair dinkum Matt. Yeo over Tapine is a **** joke. You're comparing total numbers of a guy who played 80 mins vs one who played 40. Yeah, Matty, you know I’m usually supportive but this is a bit of a rough explanation. “Last week he only managed 33 minutes, but still pumped out 93m and 23 tackles.” ...

No thanks for Josh Reynolds. Increasingly injury prone at 30 years of age. I understand why the West Tigers want to offload him. The reported $3m contract over 4 years, still with 2 years to run, was a shocker. His heart is at the Dogs but they don't want him either. England or Country Captain/Coac...

I’m fascinated by that rap, Rickman. I never really thought Buderus was that good. Just the best guy around at the time. Certainly never thought of him as someone who re-defined his position. We looked tired in that second half of the Tigers game. I actually think Walters transformed the position of hooker first and then Buderus took it to where it is now. Smith is just an extension of what Buderus did, albeit a far better one. Yep, Walters revolutionised the hooker position. I dont think Buderus was anywhere close to as good as Walters and ...
