Nailed it. And it took the best club team in 26 years to stop us winning our first in 25. Cowboys went through a few years of pain before their breakthrough so ours is close.
Agreed. We also lost a GF in 1987 before we hit our glory period too.

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Game Day

The 'six again' call was hard to cop. But it was such a lightning-quick series of events and I can understand how he got it wrong and why he thought he could/should correct it. Those two thoughts occurred in less than a second. The furore in the media would have been doubly as livid today had we sc...

Re: Papalii, Wighton and Cotric named in Kangaroos squad

When you think of it, we have done very well and our team is now full of rep players. Whitehead, Bateman, Hodgson will definitely be selected for England CNK, Rapana, Tapine, Sia ineligible (don't know whether they will be selected for N.Z., probably not - they have Ken Mamalo and DWZ on the wings,...

After that GF BJ can go anywhere he likes take Rapana with you. I’m confident in simonsen and cotric on that side good young talent. Dunamis Lui see ya mate, and havili see ya mate. Try keep this core together if you want o build success otherwise we may not see a GF again BJ busted that game open s...

On the Monday bunker earlier they were saying that JWH was told post match he'd won the CC medal. Another controversial moment. Can the NRL get anything right ? I guess the judges changed their minds then... I thought the NRL made it quite clear that it was allowed, or did they change their minds o...

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Game Day

I put the trainer incident almost in the same category as the firework-in-the-eye incident: it could've happened a million other times but happened to us at a crucial part of a massive game. The 'six again' call was hard to cop. But it was such a lightning-quick series of events and I can understand...

Anyone know when the raiders will be arriving back in Canberra? Will the bus let them off at HQ? I’d love to be there.

Same. I almost feel it’s more important to go after the loss than we had we won.

I think Murchie would be a bit silly to go to Super League at this stage. His best is very good, he just needs to do it more often. There are too many games where you watch and forget he is playing. I would have thought he would be making an impact in nearly every game in NSW Cup by now. However th...

I really hate to say this, and hopefully I get it ‘shoved in my face’ for the finals, but for me the based purely on who is best for the positions available it would be: 2. Simmonsen - just doesn’t put a foot wrong, breaks tackles, doesn’t make errors 4. BJ - game breaker, and I hope his 2 week bre...

No way Ricky is taking this game lightly. It's just not his style. Resting guys with niggles just shows he thinks we are a legitimate chance of going the whole way and is planning for another month of footy. And I don't see how resting those guys means the rest of the team will phone it in. Most of...

Re: Retain or release?

Rapana last year and beyond was the best winger in the NRL by a fair margin. Since then he has had injuries which have caused some drop in form and effectiveness, but he is still a top class NRL winger. But time, the enemy of all physical players, is not on his side. He probably only has three seas...

I re-watched the second half of the Manly game. I’d mostly put down the loss to key errors/poor decisions and less so to the refereeing, which I’d considered more pedantic than anything. However, on second viewing, the refereeing had far more impact. Firstly, the big calls were more influential tha...

We have a number of players coming off contract next year and the situation where...

The old one is a classic but has done it's time. The new one is a good revamp of the current one. I agree with posters above, it's cleaner and sharper. The Raiders podcast one is good for the podcast but not the right style for the team. I'd like to see anything new be a slightly less stylised logo ...

Re: 2019 Rd 22 V Storm: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Early in the game last week our whole back 5 struggled to make inroads in yardage sets and it really is very 1 out from either dummy half or one pass wide. It is a very conservative approach but unless you can win a penalty or generate a quick play of the ball it means you will be kicking from deep...

Ricky has already stated that Leilua will be named in the 21 man squad and it will be his call as to whether he thinks he is ready or not. Doubt Leilua will turn down the opportunity to play his 200th game, at home, against his former side. Yeah, you don’t often hear a coach say, “We let him decide...

There's players in the squad that provide better defence and he's been literally playing as a 4th running forward everytime Hodgo is there. All the more reason to keep him. You don’t even need a 4th running forward when both second rowers play 80. Sacrificing the hooker coverage for someone who is ...

Horsburgh really showed his class this game. Offloads galore, quick play the balls, hard to bring down. 147m off the bench. Kid is going to be a menace once his fitness improves.
