Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020
My first choice in the forwards would be Dale Finucane. Covers lock and/or prop and is from Bega. Probably take every cent of the offer to Bateman to get him in green. In the outside backs I'd like to see Tristan Sailor get an opportunity, he is a potential superstar with some bulking up. There's al...

Re: John Bateman to seek upgrade, future clouded at Canberra Raiders
Way I read it Bateman has every intention of heading back to SL at the end of his Raiders deal and wants to milk every cent from his NRL window, as he is entitled to. He has his little girl waiting for him back in England and a marquee player contract, so he'll probably be only a short term Raider.

Re: Retain or release?
Id be very interested to see how Rapana goes in the right centre position now that he has lost a yard of pace. I think he has the skills to create for his winger. Of course this relates to moving on Leilua

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
Why does everyone on this site always want to offload Leilua? I know that he has a mistake in him and plays very dumb at times, but he’s been very solid this year mostly Give the second rowers and been switched in and out of that right edge and Rapana generally makes the right call or is at his ins...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
EVH could be onto something. Only 12 months ago Bird was a gun and in the frame for NSW. Whatever has gone wrong at Broncos he hasnt forgotten how to play. Change of scenery with Brisbane paying half the freight worth a gamble. He at least would tighten up our defence and provide a running foil for ...

Biggest player losses since 94
Hate to pour more petrol on the pity party. But ive been thinking since our glory years of some key players that have left the club which could have made the difference in some of the down times. Here's a couple: Glen Lazarus - went on to win 3 more premierships. Born winner and local junior Ben Ken...

Id be looking at country kids from the south coast like Dale Finucane and Adam Elliott to fill our middle. Both mobile lock/props with big motors suited to less interchanges. Might like to live closer to home

Dugan's 650K
Dragons can have Dugan, we will gladly take Mitch Rein and Trent Merrin ... their 2 best players, 325K each! Rein is exactly what we need, young and hungry and will be one of the best hookers in the NRL for years to come. Merrin is a versatile forward in the Gallen mold, aggressive with a big motor ...

Re: The beard thread
I can think of a number of instances over the years when a player has come out with a silly haircut/dyejob that screams 'look at me, look at me!' and puts in an absolute shocker. Joey Johns red number, Vidot's red stripes, now Sandor's blonde helmet. It shows their head is in the wrong place, they a...

Re: The beard thread
Time spent in front of the mirror, at the hairderessers and tattoo parlours better spent on football preparation. Our outside backs have big egos and have been reading their own press over the off season. Dugan, Earl, Ferguson are huge talents but unlikable characters. Rookies Mansour and Whare carv...

Re: Raiders insist Williams in Canberra's long term plans
A lot of big wraps on Milford here, but unless he can add 20 kgs to his frame without losing his speed and footwork I don't see him as an NRL player. He's in the Ben Barba mould so maybe a viable option at fullback... I see more upside in Cornish

Maybe a new coach isn't the answer... supercoach Bennett can't help the knights and they have arguably a better roster than ours

Re: I give up
Shillo and White starting props, and we need at least one more of their standard off the bench, yes. Harrison and Picker are easily replaced, they barely deserve an NRL start now. Hinchcliffe is as good a backrower as hooker, no loss there. Would have to blood some rookies in the pack as well. What ...

Revolution: Sign Steve Folkes as coach. Hard nut who demands respect Sack Harrison, TLL, Tilse, Picker, Waddell. Send Croker, Buttriss and Williams to Mounties as NRL backups. Bring up Wighton, Lee, McIlwrick and possibly Cornish from U20's. Sign Matt Ballin, and established prop and I would even tr...

Re: Raiders considering a bid for Matt Ballin
With Buhrer chosen as back up hooker for the Blues and his junior footy in the 9 you would have to think Manly are grooming him as the long term replacement for Ballin.

I think the blues should go for experience in the starting 13 and an enthusiatic aggressive bench like this: 14. Bird - utility covers backrow, halves and handy at hooker if needed 15. Tamou 16. Tony Williams 17. Tariq Sims Also have Luke Lewis in the starting backrow who can cover just about anywhere

Re: Matt Ballin for sale
May I suggest Ryan Hinchcliffe instead? Country hooker, experienced, tough, can also play backrow if McIlwrick comes thru. Not to mention he used to be a Raider and will never get a start at Storm behind Cam Smith. Could be just as good at a cheaper price....

My belief: RAIDERS ONLY WIN WHEN THE OTHER TEAM PLAYS POORLY. When was the last game we won when the opposition played to the peak of their powers? I can't remember a true contest where both teams are completing sets, executing their plays and individuals are playing to their full potential. Either ...
