Matt's Match-ups 2019

Look I love the concept. But the rhyming isn’t great. Perhaps could have gone with a limerick? One game Hodgson broke his thumb So for three weeks he sat on his bum Matt said “form is thin” Which cost him the skin Which Sid thought was completely dumb *waits for T_R to complain that this isn’t a Lim...

Are we premiership contenders?

If we are to be genuine contenders, then no excuses are acceptable. All this talk about 5 day turnaround needs to stop. It is what it is,just get on with it. Complaints or excuses won't change anything. Look, I think most people are on board with not excusing losses from the team’s perspective. But...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

I disagree on the Storm game. Thought they were cruising in second gear and would have readily taken control back had the Raiders scored again. I thought the scoreline flattered us in that one. I don't give the Storm loss much thought. It was very early in the season when the Storm are always settl...

[emoji23] great episode guys. Loved the Bateman chat and the syndesmosis song.

Or because others in the team/staff gave them grief for it.

Not saying that they did, just that it’s another possibility. You might not feel like giving your all, or have your mind in the game if you don’t feel you have the support of your team.

Re: Viking Clap - Mark II - Viking Row

Round 24 vs Parramatta. We had 18,000 there that day, and we won by a big margin. Brenko Lee scored four tries and all of them were off Croker flick passes and Parramatta just could not stop him. Ah, I remember when people thought Brenko was good. I would have got a hat-trick myself outside Croker ...

Re: Jarrod Croker

We have the second best defence in the league, are in the top four, Croker has scored nearly half our team's total points and is our top try scorer, and has come up with some clutch plays to win a few of our matches this year (be it intercepts, goal kicks, one-on-one strips, etc). He's not as big a...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

I think there's too big a gap to teams like Roosters and Storm for us to be contenders. That said if you're in it you can win it. If we can remain in the top 4 come September then we at least have a shot. Left out the Bunnies since the Panthers just knocked them off? These teams are not invincible.

In this case he didn't drop it, it was stripped. I agree that it would be a penalty try if he dropped it immediately after being hit in the head. The fact he held onto it after the high shot, and the ball only came out after being legally stripped, should mean it wasn't a penalty try. Penalty yes, ...

Re: Are we premiership contenders?

I think you’re dreaming of recruiting upwards if we continue to round out a decent season. In 2017 the core got upgrades to hold them together and we lost our depth. The Raiders do not have infinite salary cap. A strong season will not see us progress by recruiting a big name next year. It would hav...

Are we premiership contenders?

I think people saying we can’t win because CNK this, or halfback that are being overly critical of what it takes to win a premiership. You just need to be better than the other team on the day. Sometimes not even that. You don’t have to be perfect. Yes better players, more experienced players increa...

I disagree on caring how we go in the run to the finals. As long as we can find a top four spot those games don’t count. Remember 2016? We beat Sharks and Melbourne going into finals marking ourselves as contenders and lost to both. I’m certainly not saying I’d prefer to lose them, but if the team d...
