Re: Health and fitness

Great stuff KD. I learnt the hard way that it's all about pacing. You know that you have a bit more in you, you can push yourself a bit harder next time. Better under doing it sometimes than overdoing it and going down in a screaming heap. Been there, done that. It ain't pretty.

Yeah supposed to be about 5000m. That 55-75 is through the army base and is the only part of the course that you can't practice on.

So I've started training for the Kokoda Gold Coast Challenge in July. It's a 96km endurance event, done in teams of 4 through the Gold Coast Hinterland. Median time is 28 hours. Did one of the training routes last weekend and thought that it was pretty hilly. Got home and looked at the elevation pr...

Physio and chiro? a) physios hate chiros so I'm not sure how you're getting away going to both b) my physio actively encourages deadlifts as they're one of the best whole body exercises you can do That's because a significant number of chiros are quacks who believe in a completely implausible theor...

Lowest moment? The week or so following a few weeks off in August/September for a holiday. Re: Grounds for concern: Could 'super stadium' be on cards for Canberra?

Na, that's the arena. I understand your point. Anything less than a purpose built facility is a compromise. That would certainly be my preference. The ACT Government has indicated that they are not willing to invest the type of money required unless the facility will see significant use. My point is...

Re: Grounds for concern: Could 'super stadium' be on cards for Canberra?

According to this website, the field size in stadium mode is 14600m2. https://goo.gl/images/uZRb2w According to this site, a rugby field is 8400m2, and a pitch is typically 10080m2. So plenty of room. But I'm not saying that they should build that exact arena, nor in my wildest dreams think that the...

Re: Grounds for concern: Could 'super stadium' be on cards for Canberra?

I'm not sure what you're talking about BJ, that stadium has hosted soccer and gridiron. It seats 35,000 and cost nothing like $1.5 billion to build. Like I said, pie in the sky, no Australian Government would ever build anything like it. Its pretty cool though.

Re: Grounds for concern: Could 'super stadium' be on cards for Canberra?

Well this is good news for the Raiders and Brumbies. A third major sporting team with a preference for a rectangular stadium makes it hard to justify building a multi purpose venue to satisfy a sport that plays three games here a year. Plonk it in Civic and throw a roof on it - with some clever feat...
