Re: Canberra Raiders prepared to let grand final centre Joey Leilua walk

The ganging up, and insinuating a particular person is stupid for having a different opinion is getting quite old.

Re: Canberra Raiders prepared to let grand final centre Joey Leilua walk

The people that can no longer think rationally are those that just continually bring him up in almost every thread. I think most fans, including myself, assume Croker is on less money than BJ. Croker is a good player, our co captain, goal kicker and top try scorer. It all comes down to value. If the...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

The Raiders expected Wighton to knock back the option given he's changed management since his previous contract Wighton's previous manager, and not Rose, would continue to get paid until the end of 2021 if the option was taken up. a not very subtle crack from the club there Yes, I did laugh. Re: Canberra Raiders sign Wigan Warriors half George Williams on three year deal

I took the time to watch plenty of full games and skill wise he has it. Passing long and short is strong, great short kicking game, and strong runner of the ball and bounces out of tackles a fair bit. Will come down to between the ears. Can he do it under more pressure. He plays on the left but skip...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

December 21st 2018 When Brew has lost faith in his false messiah, it begs the question... why is he still employed? What is even more sad is that if he was not employed Andrew McFadden would be the coach. If Ricky got the sack in 2019 he would take over. I don’t know how I feel about that or that it...

If Hastings backs up the year he's just had with Salford at Wigan next year, then by the time he's next off contract he'll be getting a starting gig at an NRL team.

What's "controversial" here is that you're just completely making up "facts" to suit your own "narrative"... whatever that is. My narrative is that the only evidence of our clubs ability to negotiate contracts, contradicts what our hopes are. Either we have blind faith they can pull it off, or as I...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

I’d also like to echo my lack of faith that this club can operate they way they need to retain elite talent and the squad they need around them. But you know what. I also had HIGH doubt a reserve grade winger was going to be the answer to our fullback spot, and I said as much a number of times befor...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

To win a comp you need elite players, and you need good talented players around them. The only way to do that is to not be overpaying hardly anyone, or probably absolutely no one. Secondly you have to actually attract or nurture elite talent. We are halfway there. We have elite talent like we haven’...

Everyone might do it if they can convince their player who is off contract to move to Japan for 6 months without a signed deal to return, and actually get a deal from a team over there. And be happy with them not doing a pre season with the squad.

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

All he did was not take up the option in his favour for 2021. Few chicken littles in here. Also his manager has gone on radio this morning talking up going to market. That is completely unnecessary. There’s 16 clubs in the NRL, and not one of them needs more than a text message notice he’s off contr...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down option for 2021 to go on open market on November 1

In all seriousness, if I’m his manager I want to negotiate a contract now. GF Clive Churchill winner. Perfect time to get him a rich 4-5 year deal. Doesn’t mean he has to be on $1mil in 2021, could start at $800k and finish on the million at the end.
He’s still on $750k in 2020 anyway.

But in reality our backup half next year is gonna need to play probably 3 ish games minimum, given Jack’s origin duty and probs not backing him up for every game. So just an update for anyone that cares; Orange shirts are 'head trainer' for the team. They have no restrictions on when they can be on the field (while team is in possession). The Roosters have Drew Hutchison and Lachlan Lam as the back up halves in their squad. I can pretty confidently say that they wouldn’t be paying either of them $300K. There’s laws around the blue shirt trainers and orange shirt trainers. Orange shirts are medical guys for injuries, blue is water runners. Blue can be on the field for 2,3&4 tackles while in possession, and need to go off on 5th. Orange is for injuries. The trainer in the GF was an orange shirt, and...

I thought Cotric's decision making was impeccible.
