Re: Vale Brian Bourke

Sad news indeed. He was obviously an integral part of a club that went from being an afterthought of the NSWRL to a powerhouse in a short period of time. He would have had a very interesting career as our head trainer in that period of time, as the competition went from being semi-amateur to fully p...

Re: 2024 Round 12 v Roosters: Game Day

I think the game just proved that EW struggles when the game is played at speed. He was clearly gassed after 30 minutes. There were so many missed tackles and set restarts that the old bloke couldn't keep up. We knew that going into the season unfortunately. In saying that, in some circumstances he...

Re: Hudson Young selected for Origin I

“I don’t even care about Origin anymore, it’s so boring now!” says the classic New South Wales fan The NSWRL sucks. I wasn't born in NSW so they can go get stuffed. Historically I've been more of a QLD fan, but over time that place has proven itself to be full of **** so I've become more ambivalent...

Really good news with this one. Never seen him play. He's almost instantly our second best player in that position.

Re: Raiders linked to English second rower Matty Nicholson

In the 40 years I've been following this game id have to say Sam Burgess and Morley were the best Poms I've seen here. Hanley also had a great impact on both Balmain and Wests. Prime Hodgo and Whitehead were right up there, as was Widdup. Farnworth is a very underrated centre. I thought Gareth Ellis...

The reason he doesn't get much decent ball is Strange on most possessions approaches the line and then skips left across the face of the line. There's not much room left for the runners and it's hard to time a run + defenders are automatically sliding across not "engaged" and frozen by a ...

Wouldn't mind him getting the basics down before having him play like a second fullback in attack. Let's have Levi and Starling on the field creating all sorts of confusion with the ball and double down with Rapana and Kris, both not natural fullbacks, popping up all over the field. Defensively he has been poor.

He has all the tools and could be a great line runner to open up Savage, but at the moment he also looks a bit lost in attack.

Definitely room for improvement.

Re: 2024 Round 12 v Roosters: Game Day

I understand the Smithies conversation but at the end of the day, the way we played looked like our halves had 20 First Grade games between them, our fullback was a stopgap (some terrible play from Rapa) and our hookers should be nowhere near FG selection. Our terrible defence made the Roosters look...

1. Mooney

Huddo was good with the ball, but was exposed in defence too many times.

Re: 2024 Round 12 v Roosters: Game Day

That was a pretty low quality game. 60 missed tackles and 11 errors by us. The Roosters capitalised on many of those and we couldn't defend our line to save ourselves. The metres we conceded to them in the opening of both halves was pretty ordinary. It set the tone for the entire game. We were never...

The thing that sets him apart in my mind is the game smarts - which at his age are astonishing. Of course he's got the physical characteristics, but it's the lines he runs, the support play, being in the right place to make a tackle. He's bigger, but the player he reminds me of is Gaz Ellis. Sounds like a solid squad. All of the key players back and a few new faces.

The club did an amazing job identifying talent from all over the place last season to be very competitive. Looking forward to watching the team build on that.

6th vs 7th.

The battle of a bottom 4 quality squad vs a top 4 quality squad led by a three time premiership winning coach.

I'm surprised the teams are so close on the ladder.

Roosters suck. Raiders by 10.

Strange legitimately beat Weekes to the 5/8 position in the trials. Until then I'm sure Stuart had Weekes pencilled in. That says a lot about Strange, he was outstanding in the preseason. But Weekes offers a lot of that X factor. Unlike Starling, he could legitimately cause damage off the bench. We ...
