Re: The Politics Thread 2021
The point of contention is whether the funds that have been created are associated with debt (such as a bond) or whether they just appear on the government's account ledger It is the latter. The funds are essentially created by keystroke and credited to the participating reserve accounts at the RBA...

Re: Curtis Scott police assault charges dropped after court rules arrest 'unlawful'
Some good signs there. I was filthy on Scott for putting himself in that situation when this originally happened, but was hopeful that it could be a turning point in his life. When all the details came out I was obviously then filthy on what the cops did under the circumstances. After watching Todd ...

I'm not a racist per se, but the language barrier would seriously count against the poms taking on that role. Do you realise that 1) English people in general are normally able to speak English . 2) our current co-captain is English. To be fair some of those Lancastrian accents could use subtitles....

Re: Canberra Raiders young gun Hudson Young set to sign new deal to end 2023
Anyway, I was a bit disappointed when Mitch Barnett left a few seasons ago, but I reckon Young has a higher ceiling than Barnett, is just as versatile and is now less prone to brain explosions. Good outcome. Yeah, I was disappointed too though a bit of that was to do with keeping Bateman. At the ti...

Re: The Politics Thread 2021
MMT is clearly one form of economic theory, but to me it completely ignores the most basic of economic principles in that money is just a vehicle to exchange goods and services of equal value. This last part though is just not correct and completely ignores the theory of chartalism, which to me is ...

Why stop at full employment though? If you're running with this flavour of economics then we may as well create enough money to build every homeless person a house, build national infrastructure for electric vehicles, kit out the Defence force with state of the art capability and give everyone a $1...

Re: The Politics Thread 2021
The MMT theory is obviously building momentum in some quarters, but there are still a lot of hairs on implementing something like this, including putting adequate controls or limits in place, as well as implementing a guaranteed employment program to manage wage growth and to control inflation. Re: Canberra Raiders announce Canberra Milk as new major sponsor for 2021
I suspect one of the main reasons Canberra Milk stepped up their sponsorship this season is to get their new(ish) branding out there. For that reason I think we will wear the home jersey for most of the home games and the heritage jersey for many away games. Could be entirely wrong though. Either wa...

Re: 2021 season predictions and previews
From the small glimpses I've seen this year, HSS is going to be pushing hard for a starting spot by the end of the season. Also, the boys look good in those heritage jerseys. It's a bit surprising they used those for the website, but it gives a pretty good indication of their intention to wear them ...

I was also of the opinion they weren’t shoulder charges (in the usual context). Hors is known as fiery by the refs and commentators, this can often lead to an overreaction to any tackle out of the norm. I remember Tallis, Geyer, Plumb all being penalised for hard tackles that were 100% legal. Yeah,...

Friend was only just hanging in there before both Verrills and Radley got injured.
I'd love it if he was their first choice dummy half the entire season. It's just about the most important position on the field and at this stage of his career he's starting to struggle.

I know the Roosters were missing Keary, but their staring halves were pretty pedestrian. Sam Walker has some real skill about him and great vision. I think Soliola might miss out here. Sutton looked good and I reckon James played himself into a bench role.
I'd probably be starting Lui or Guler with Papa. I also thought HSS looked better than Kris on the whole, but happy either way if Croker's not fit.

Looked good with the ball and had some good minutes in both games combined. Seeing the flow of the game live, I was really impressed with the structure and balance of our attack, given it was a trial. If Corey Parker ever demonstrated his ability to analyse rugby league I’d be shocked at his sacking.
