Re: Through green eyes 2020

Those two wins in 2009 and 2010 were pretty special.

That 20 mins after half time in 2010 was arguably the best football we played in about 10 years. I still remember Dave Furner riding Joe Picker home as he ran down the western side of Canberra Stadium to score.

Re: NRL burns nearly 500k per day, fails to pay into the NRL Players Retirement fund

GE says the NRL don’t watch what the AFL has been doing. What is becoming abundantly clear is the NRL are like that neighbour that has to keep up and potentially beat the Joneses. But what they don’t realise is they earn a much smaller income than the Joneses. That is not to say there aren’t many, m...

Re: Canberra Raiders - We will be back

I think we should also acknowledge Tom Logan from the Raiders media department for putting that together the other night just before he was about to get stood down. A few years ago Ben was about it, now there is quite a few people. Who knows what the future will hold for them. As someone who once wo...

Re: Canberra Raiders prepare for tough times after NRL season suspension

I agree that if the NRL can’t start by September, it becomes unworkable to have a premiership, however, there may be some ways of still getting some revenue out of 2020. I think even if football couldn’t start until November, I think you could do one or both of two things: 1) still play origin. This...

Re: Canberra Raiders prepare for tough times after NRL season suspension

Sounds to me that the advice and new rules from the government tonight essentially bans the playing or training of a rugby league team.

If it hadn’t already stopped it would have been fully banned.

The more I think about it and watching AFL 360 who are going through the issues which are exactly the same no matter your feelings about any particular sport or code, I just think there is only one way the NRL can stuff this up - that is to continue playing. $13 million in the pocket next weekend wi...

I reiterate what I said before, unless the NRL do something stupid, not one single person who loves rugby league is not going to stop loving it due Coronavirus. (Hoping that not too many people perish)

This is a disaster for Rugby League but if we adapt, we not only survive, but in time flourish.

Re: Domestic travel restrictions add further turmoil to NRL and Canberra Raiders seasons

In these situations people are looking for somewhere to direct their anger, rational or not. I don't think being the odd man out is a good position for the NRL to be in. Re: Domestic travel restrictions add further turmoil to NRL and Canberra Raiders seasons

If, and it is a big if, the season was able to continue the first week of June, we could play out the full season and have the Grand Final the last weekend in November. The AFL was left with no choice with SA and WA effectively "closing their borders", by requiring self isolation for anyone who enters. The AFL and NRL basically stop if they don’t travel so that’s about as essential as it gets. I also believe keeping the footy on as long a season possible is very important for public morale. The AFL have absolutely been watching the NRL make a decisive decision, while the season is underway. I still have no idea what the logic is behind their 17 game proposal. Makes zero sense. I read somewhere that the government will be encouraging a protocol of people staying 1.5 metres apart from each other as much as possible. Obviously that is only possible to some extent.

Not sure how you play rugby league under those arrangements.
