Re: Canberra Raiders Josh Papalii, Jack Wighton and Josh Hodgson face bans

I think the charges are fair under the current rules. What was concerning was Sticky's 'nothing to see here' response. I get that he is passionate about his players and the future of the Raiders season. However, illegal play, cannot be allowed to sail through. If a head coach has difficulty in adjus...

Pretty fair result, we should just take the early pleas and be done with it Agree Toviii. At least that way we would have Jack and Hodgo available against the Chooks. Hodgo reacted to having his fellow Englishman's hand all over his face. Probably the reason it got the grading it did. Papa likely t...

Re: This is not rugby league

Rugby League is a collision sport, but while we see every player wearing a mouth guard to protect their teeth there are only a few who wear head gear to protect their heads. I don't have a problem with the rules to reduce contact with the head. The long term effects of multiple concussions can not b...

Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Game Day

There was a worse example of a shoulder charge to the head in the 1st half of the Souths v CN game and the Souths player only got 10 mins! Where is the consistency? It is ridiculous to suddenly introduce draconian penalties so far into the season. The obvious reason is the NRL's officials failed to...

Re: 2021 Rd 10 V Bulldogs: Game Day

Two competition points is welcome, but the same problems remain. Very little in the way of driving defensive plays. The dis-organisation on the last play options. Too often the ball goes to a non-playmaker and I think in some cases the player with the ball doesn't know its the last tackle. Trying to...

Good to have Ryan James back in the team. For whatever reason we seem the play better up the middle when he's on the field. 100% agree NR. Hopefully one of Papa and James is always on the field and sometimes both. They gain meters up the middle and that is a good platform for the 6, 7 and 9 to play...

I think that’s also fitness RR. 3 people in a tackle triples your tackle efforts for the team. They haven’t got the petrol in the tank it seems. They’re emptying the tank each week. It’s just the petrol light comes on at half time. I don't disagree that fitness appears to be an issue Gangers. It is...

I don't remember a single set where we drove them back in tackles and pressured them when they had the ball. Panthers, Storm do this week in week out. We did it in 2019 and to a lesser extent in 2020 and it proved effective in building confidence in other areas of the game. Where has our aggression ...

Re: What does our next rebuild look like?

Sticky built a side which had great success over the past two years because of the smothering defensive plays. The new rules have changed the tempo of the game and our roster is loaded with middle forwards. Watching our opponents we seem off the pace in terms of the speed we play the game. We have a...

Ricky talking about all the defence we had to do, but I would say it was 2018 style defence. We are allowing the opposition ball carrier to continue to make ground after contact. No one is looking to put Gallen in the ring with Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. I would not even put him in the ring against Australian heavy weight champion Justis Huni. Raiders_Pat, in Sticky's presser after the Eels game, he was kicking himself that we didn't have a bench player who can play in the backline so that he doesn't have to put a backrower there and shuffle everyone around. 2. Poor right edge defence when defending from 20m to goal line.
