Re: The Cricket Thread

There doesn't appear to be anyone with a Mark Waugh eye who can assist with the decisions. Bowlers think everything is out. It has to be a slip fielder or Paine has to get tougher in knocking back the bowlers. He is in a great position for the quicks so has to learn 'yeh.....Nah'

Re: 2019 Preliminary Final: Teams and Previews

Who ever we play I want to see us driving their ball carriers backwards in the tackles. It lifts the team to see it from their mates. If it happens 2 or 3 times in a set the opposition lose their momentum and the retrieval of their kick will have us on the front foot for our next set. We got into th...

Has anyone else read the story by Richard Hinds on the abc this morning? I can't stand the way this bloke writes about rugby league, even worse how he writes about the Raiders and Raiders fans. This bloke ghost wrote Billy Slaters biography, I reckon he's a bit salty about the result on the weekend...

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 V Storm: Game Day

Wow. Hopefully a bit composed by now: 1. The Storm are not as fearsome as they used to be, whether it be the lack of a halfback, or something else. I'd like to claim that it's when my family are there, we beat them. Go Kid! However I can't help thinking that the Fox adulation of the Couch to start ...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Tim Paine will hopefully have learned his lesson. When you win the toss, bat. If this was about protecting his openers then that defensive mindset is wrong from the start. Dropping of Uzi was not rewarded. He had twice the average of both the retained openers. Still, a 2 all drawn series means the A...

Re: The Cricket Thread

It's like Warner is not picking up the ball at all. I wonder if he needs his eyes tested. So many play and miss before he was out. 3 for at Lunch and Smith and Wade trying to put some respect into the score. Nothing much wrong with the pitch and weather conditions don't get much better for batting. ...

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 V Storm: Game Day

Pete, and the fact the Raiders kept them to one try. Our defensive efforts in the match were the critical factor imo. They are the second best attacking side in the League as well as the best defensive outfit. Parramatta are rightly on a high, but imo, it will only last one week.

Re: Canterbury Bulldogs want to sign Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua

After BJ dropped his knees into the back of the Manly player, Sticky was non-plussed at the presser. Not even the coach knows what he will do. There would not be too many outside backs on $600k imo. They are far more likely to be on the median level income particularly if they are not Captains. BJ h...

Re: Croker's kicking

That was exactly the point I was trying to make Gangers. I didn't have a problem with taking the shot for goal which potentially got us out to an 8 point lead and success or failure means we get the ball back. I just thought from a game management point of view, throwing the ball to the co-skipper w...

Re: The Cricket Thread

In Australian conditions with a Kookaburra ball I reckon Wade is a lock as are Labu and Smith. All other spots up for grabs in the batting line up. Like this current series, I expect Starc to be in the side. He is an extremely good bowler and offers some variety to the right arm brigade.

I thought his conversion from the side line of the Simmonson try was an absolute cracker. I will say though, that after he had been illegally flattened by Vunivalu without the ball, that thought should have been given to having Sezer take that shot. It may be something Sticky has a word with both Ho...

I don't believe in hoodoos. I believe in what 17 men in green who are committed to winning can do. I have no preference for who we play next. Souths are the larger more physical team who played without suspended Sam Burgess on Friday night. They will definitely have him in the side against Manly and...

Looking at a replay of that last kick off from the Storm, they had a player offside directly in front of the ref (to the left of Smith), where was our penalty? England 8 down at stumps and Australia will need around 400 to win. Warner would need an Arthur Morris type performance in 1948 series 4th Test for us to go anywhere near such a total. I would prefer Rapa to stay with the Raiders and play out his career here. But if the 30 year old can make better coin playing a few months of Japanese Rugby then I'd wish him well. Young missed 6 tackles last week - that won't be missed this week (Source: Big League Magazine). Sezer and Jack missed 5 each. I still want to see our defenders driving them backwards from their first set. That will be an indication that we are really up for the match.

Can't bowl, Can't catch. Well done Trevor Hohns in changing a winning side. The body language does not look like an Ashes retaining side. Give them an inspirational speech over lunch Trevor. It could start with "I'm on the first plane back to Australia, This arvo". It might just work.
