Re: 2020 State of Origin III - Teams and Game Day

Surely pointing out that Ponga and Tom T are still to return only highlights the issue. NSW already tried to shoe-horn too many play-makers in (hence Wighton and Gutho in the centres). With Ponga and Tom T available, how do you fit them all in (yeah, drop Gutho, but still...)? Actually, personally ...

Add Young, Sia, HorsPower, James, Lui and our middle looks the goods. We look light on for depth in the second row to me.

Good signing to keep Emre in green for at least 2 more seasons. Well done DFJ and Sticky.

Playing with a shoulder that didn't seem quite right with different players on the right edge, contract disputes, wanting to go home to see his family but stuck due to the pandemic. 2020 was very different to 2019 in so many ways. 6/10 which is not too bad as he only played half the matches. There is something wrong with the stats. 57 missed tackles over 22 games is 2.6 missed tackles per match. His end of season form dipped from the time he came out and said the Raiders would not be resting any players before the finals and then within days Sticky had rested half the squad for the fina...

Mr Versatile who plays hooker or middle. Always makes ground with the ball because of his nugget shape and powerful legs. Defensively reliable. He had 7 kicks for 291mtrs so he kicks more than 40 mtrs on average. This is a part of his game which in under-utilised imo. In those times when we are stru...

I thought Freddy had a NSW contract to coach SOO next year. Other than the first match the games were decided once a key playmaker was taken out of the game. No one called Bennett a genius after the 2nd match. Both sides were missing some fine players players before the series began. Pongia and Turb...

Full marks to Qld. NSW could not build intensity or pressure because Qld wouldn't let them. Interesting that when Qld lost Munster in the second game NSW ran over them. When NSW lost their FB and Captain in Teddy they didn't have a player who took control. The sides are fairly evenly matched in the ...

A development year for Young in that he was tasked to get the garbage plays out of his game and focus on football and I think he largely did that. Small for a middle forward but mobile. Defensively very good. Showed glimpses of an offload ability that I hope he continues to work on. 7/10

I was opposed to him coming back in 2020 after that injury. He got limited minutes and I'm glad his did not cop another head knock. No one would ever question his courage and desire to play football. Thanks Dr Z. Does the nasal swab test have similar false negative/false positive outcomes to the serology testing? Australia seems to be in a good position with Covid19 now. The Qld Government allowing a full house at Suncorp Stadium for SOO3. Social distancing no longer deemed necessary in Brisbane.

Interesting the selectors have taken the vice captaincy away from Head leaving Cummins to support Paine. Either they don't think they need his input or they may be preparing the way for a replacement. I think Travis is a solid player in the middle order.

Unfortunate for NSW to lose their No9 before the game and having to put an assistant coach at 44 years of age into that crucial position. Still, good luck to the Qld side in securing their win on home soil. Lots of debutants at this level on both sides so the future is looking strong.
