Re: Our attack

Or target the shorter fullback with players like Jack leaping over the top of him. As a variation, I don't mind the crash ball with Papa as the receiver and the hit and spin option. He either gets through for the try or the opposition gets the ball 1 or 2 meters from their line. Even if no try is sc...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

Good writeup Ferg, you only missed out the bit where Bateman chinked across field to set up Crokes and Jordy Raps’ big hit on Chambers! Memorable moments? The Raiders' best try was their first, with John Bateman making a clever cross field run to set up Jarrod Croker for the four pointer. But the R...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

Good job as always GE. I don't think our first point of contact in defence is tough enough. We rarely make the effort to drive back the ball carrier. If the Storm are to be beaten then sides have to break their momentum and having the ball carrier taken backwards is one way to do it.

Re: Aidan Sezer

Williams defence isn't that bad, it's not bad enough to justify keeping Sezer if Sezer doesn't improve significantly this week. I don't see what Sezer has done to justify the support for him. In his four years with the Titans they did not make the finals. He came here in 2016 and at the back end of...

Happy Clapper..Winx's bitch since 2017 No surprise that Winx has done it again today. Fabulous consistency from the mare. Unlike Aidan Sezer who's only consistency is his inconsistency. Sticky has his favourites and will stay with them, just like the jumbo props selections of last year. Sam William...

If Tapine is out I’d go with: 1. Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Cotric 3. Croker 4. Leilua 5. Rapana 6. Wighton 7. Sezer 8. Papalii 9. Hodgson 10. Soliola 11. Whitehead 12. Murchie 13. Bateman 14. Havili 15. Sutton 16. Horsburgh 17. Lui Sent from my iPhone using The Greenhouse I like it Dusty. One backrower in...

Re: 2019 Rd 2 V Storm: Game Day

Cotric reminded of one of the bouncers at the old South Pacific Club - he just stood around watching Fijians score! I was surprised he didn't try to tackle Vunivalu on one of his tries rather than attempt to bump him over the side line. Vunivalu shrugged it off, stepped to the left and still scored...

Re: 2019 Rd 2 V Storm: Game Day

No competition points = fail. We did not defend our errors and it cost us. Storm first try comes immediately after Sezer kicks out on the full. Storm second try came after a nothing kick direct to their fullback by Hodgo and a smart play by Croft who saw that CNK was in the line so he kicked through...

Matt on the money for Rnd 1. Which is slightly disappointing. :( Jai Arrow vs John Bateman a tough call but you have to go with the guy who’s been going great guns in the NRL for the past couple of years. Following the trials I did not have a spot for Sutton. I had Lui starting with a bench of Havili, Sia, Guler and Horsepower. Sticky has swapped Guler for Sutton the way I see it.

Cranky, Dick Huddardt was a handy English forward in the 1960's.

Re: Matt's Match-ups 2019

I agree with all except the draw Matt. Smith remains No.1 at the start of 2019 imo. But close to a record low of Raider skin wins following a 21 blot win on the weekend just emphasises how well the Storm played. This will be a real test for the Raiders against a side who won't throw away possession ...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

Agree on Maloney BnM. He is a match winner with the ball. I thought Penrith might have gone down the path of the Broncos with Lockyer when they had Tony Carroll right next to him all match, but they have let him play 'unescorted'. Maloney is good in big matches too, be they finals or SOO. Such great...

Welcome back Rapa. A tough first game up against the Storm. Addo-Carr is like lightning and very evasive. Smith, Croft and Munster will be testing him under the high ball. He has had no trial games to ease in 2019. But everyone has such justified faith in his ability. Go Rapa.

Re: Through green eyes 2019

I think the coaches look at the missed tackle stats and those with high numbers would be looked at in the individual video sessions to see if there is a technique issue which needs correcting. Player performance should be about continuous improvement in an effort to get the missed tackle stat as low...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

JC was very good on kick chase in the trial match. It is a feature of his game. I have a different view of tackles and miss tackles. Either make the tackle or don't. If a player misses, it means a team mate has to expend the energy to make the tackle and that can tell at the back end of matches. Ev...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

Missed tackles, along with tackles made, run meters are affected by the amount of possession a team has. That was why I was surprised when we had 55% possession but made more missed tackles in aggregate. I take your point on 'not trying' or out of position. The former for Austin, the latter for BJ w...

Do you think that Sezer has told the Raiders that he's ready to move on next year? That's why they've organised the signing of Williams now?
