Re: The Cricket Thread

Australia raps up the Test in 4 days with only 3 front line bowlers. Wow. Starc fantastic. He played well in the last World Cup and he has played well this summer in Australia. Why Hohns did not select him to play more than one test in the Ashes is a complete mystery. How Peter Siddle got a run in f...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Anyone else see the butchered runout by Paine? Flem and Punter said it was Lyons fault initially. With a wide-ish bounce throw. Flem revised his thoughts saying Labu being over the stumps is why he did. IMO, bounce throw or not, the guy with the gloves should take that every single time. No excuses...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Australia have the Kiwis 5 down at stumps with a lead of a little over 300 going into Day 3. Both sides are down a pace bowler due to injury. It didn't look good for Hazlewood. Unable to complete his over due to hamstring problem on the left leg. I don't expect him to bowl again this match. A shame ...

Limited game time but had a real crack when on the field. Very quick from dummy half. Much smaller than our 2 main hookers. Just needs more experience in FG which he is unlikely to get at the Raiders. He will fill the FG role should we need to call on him. 3/10 based on low minutes.

Best Thread - Through Green Eyes - Well thought through and presented edition after edition with some unconscious bias in player ratings :)
Worst Thread - Is it time for Canberra Raiders fans to forgive Josh Dugan? It's main attribute was to have Raiders fans in general agree.

Re: NRL announces rule changes for trainers, endorses challenge system

1. General Play challenge I like, ever since the trial all those years ago in U/20s. So many times a player loses the ball due to poor ball security and gets a strip penalty for his team. The challenge can reduce the number of ref clangers. 2. 20/40 kick as well as a 40/20. Why not just make it a 30...

Re: The Union Thread

Ricky Stuart had a Rugby Union pathway to the Raiders - just sayin'. Cooper Cronk had a Union background in his early development years. There are plenty of quality players who have made and who could make, the switch. The trick is to get them in their late teens or early 20s and take the time to de...

Tim Tszyu far to good for Brubaker. Gelignite Jack was easily outclassed by Tszyu and Jeff Fenech threw in the towel in Round 4 to protect his fighter. Onwards and upwards for Tim who is now 15-0. His management team will need to find some higher ranked opponents prior to any World title shots. He w...

Hopefully there was no sandpaper recollection influencing the decision. Haydos is such a clean skin record holder. Taylor refused to out sco...

The Pakistani's will bring the leggie on as soon as Smith comes out to bat. He has a strong record of getting Smith out. A personal challenge for Smith with the team scoring well without his contribution in the first Test. Should be intriguing cricket.

1/10 and lucky to still have a contract next year. There have been past players forced to leave for much less e.g. Steve Irwin. Multiple eye gouger who has already been given one chance too many for mine. Previously had to sit out for testing positive to banned substances. There goes the culture Rick.

Membership pack arrived this week and the cap is Blue. Yes it has the green logo on the front, but in a crowd it is more Knights than Raiders. Needs more Green. 7/10. Agree Coastalraider. I reckon he has SOO written all over him. Raiders will have 2 Qld props (Papa and Horse) if the selectors are watching. 3 ump rotation makes so much sense. Not sure why they haven't implemented it already. They could also use the video umpire to monitor the front foot. He could watch a fixed camera on the front line and send a signal if bowler over steps. No new tech as it's using all the facilities they currently h...

Back to the match - Well done to Australia. Pakistan won the toss and batted and Australia bowled them out in one day. Australia also bowled them out in a little over one day in their second innings. In between they piled on 580 runs without a Smith dominant innings. Very impressive imo. An interest...

Guler played with more aggression (and within the rules) as the season wore on. He looked very good in the finals matches. Really looking forward to see what another off season can do for him. Pakistan 3 wickets down at stumps. This has been a good day for Australian cricket. The side has made 580 with barely a contribution from star batsman Smith. Top score of 185 to the Marn. Fast Bowlers impressive with the new ball as was GOAT Lyon.

150 up for Australia and Warner into the 80's. It is great comeback to form for him and if he gets a ton, then good luck to him. I would have said 500, but 600 is huge
I'd go 600 as well. Give the GOAT a couple of days to go through them and have us doing as little batting as possible on a wearing pitch.
