Re: 2024 Round 16 v Tigers: Teams and Previews

I hear it’s Weekes lack of reading the play, calling the play and yelling it in a clear voice that impacts his fullback play. He’s apparently very quiet on field.

Those players won’t leave Sydney surrounds for the same salary. Their player managers unlikely to even contact the club.

I’ve been calling for a Woolford/ Levi combination this year.

I’m hoping it will add some stability to our forward roll on and ability to get some width quickly.

Starling’s speed and strength of long pass just hasn’t improved.

Damian cook is a good hooker. But Raiders need a passing and organising hooker, which isn’t Cook’s strength.

But he’s way better than what we have, so it’s a maybe call from me.

I certainly have to wonder if any of our players do any peripheral vision training. They’d be hopeless soccer players not noticing what teammates and opposition players are doing around them. Those passes by Levi, Rapana and Hudson in particular, straight into the meat of the defence line, showed a ...

Strange 2 - our only dangerous ball runner across the entire game. Whitehead 2 - some good defence, wrestle and line running in attack that should have been better utilised by Levi, Weekes and Starling. Raps 1 - effort as always and at least created things. Mooney 1 - he upped our aggression with an...

IMO, The only Raiders playing below their capabilities and need to lift are Kris, Cotric and ‘maybe’ Papa hasn’t quite been at his expected peak, but still a good NRL prop. Starling could show more than his occasional glimpses and Levi is playing at his own peak (which can be likened to a small moun...

Certainly is a good runner of the ball.
Let’s hope he can develop a good pass and offload too.
I like to see powerful young backs who can also position their support players after a break. Meninga was possibly the best centre at setting up his wingers and fullback I’ve ever seen.

So called double movements have been over-ruled if momentum takes them into the in-goal anyway. If ref hasn’t called ‘held’ and his ball-carrying arm hasn’t touched the ground, I see no reason why he can’t reach out to score. If he was in the in-goal area already on his back and did it it would have been fine. Are they not ‘held’ in the in-goal area, just in the field of play when they are on...
