Re: 1989 Grand Final V Tigers: Teams and Game Day

Key take-outs: Clyde had a huge game statistically as well as in context Lazarus good stats playing 100 minutes as well O'Sullivan did more than I thought Ferguson busy off the wing Steve Jackson was massive when he came on Numbers look low compared to today's game but must remember it is far quick...

The abillity was there but Jensen had the worst hands of any Raiders player I remember. Once he fixed that at the Cows he was great.

Re: The most underrated Raiders of all time

I actually think Logan gets a bit overrated on here. He was one of our best bench props but he never led the pack or was successful as a starting player.

Re: Ricky Stuart says he'll fight proposal to strip competition points from opening rounds

Would be a bit of a hollow feeling winning a premiership based on a 13 week season, wouldn't it? The whole integrity of the comp has just been destroyed this season. Can see opposition fans giving it hard to the team that does. I think if you beat the Roosters and Storm in a final series to win it ...

Re: The most underrated Raiders of all time

Davico was very good. Should've gone to the World cup in 2000 ahead of Britt and is one of the best players to not play Origin. He used to put up 150+ meters and 15+ hitups nearly every week. O'Hara was good early but got lazy. I think some of the rule changes didn't help him a great deal either. By...

Re: Ricky Stuart says he'll fight proposal to strip competition points from opening rounds

Why would you bother having the 2nd "conference" in QLD? Most of the teams playing are not from QLD. Its all the non-Sydney teams with Dragons classified as Wollongong. But why Queensland? Three teams from Queensland, but five teams aren't. The only explanation is a place like Townsville might be a...

Re: The most underrated Raiders of all time

I reckon Chris O’Sullivan was pretty underrated. I’ve watched a few replays of matches in the last couple of weeks and from memory as a young fella he never really stood out to me amongst his more notable teammates. But jeez he had a real ability to skip to the outside of a defender and create numb...

It's hard to compare when his best years were a decade or more ago but have a look at Thurlings POTY record if you want a more contempary assesment of his ability. He was good.

Which team would you pick to play against Mal's 13? I'll start with my backline...would be a hell of a matchup. Schif Nagas Mal BJ Rapana Campo Throw in your half and the forwards, can't pick any of Mal's bench players either..feel free to change the backline. Can I pick the years? 03 Schif 88 Chic...

Re: Canberra Raiders prepare for tough times after NRL season suspension

If the players were smart they would allow salaries to be published and the need for an Agent in Australia all but disappears for most of them.

It's would be crazy for players to pay US style percentages of they knew what the market was anyway.

Re: Underrated XIII: The best NRL players who've never received enough praise

We've had plenty of players that just turned up and did their very best over a lot of years. Some were better than others. But most did their bit. For a while there a team list Tuesday without Shaun Fensom was enough to poke my own eyes out. Alan Rothery, Ben Jones, Andrew Lomu, Jason Williams, Ter...

I think amongst Raiders fans those three wouldn't qualify. For mine I think Thurling was one of the most underrated. So with this reduction in wages etc. What happens if/when the comp starts back up if the full season is played and Foxtel/Nine are required to meet their payment obligations.
The players get 29.5% of any additional revenues.

Re: NRL burns nearly 500k per day, fails to pay into the NRL Players Retirement fund

Unless you know the revenue they generated through things like digital it's hard to be that critical. For example they spent 11m on major events and it generated 16m. Non broadcast revenue was 210m and the 103m expense on Events etc drove most of that. That revenue stream is up nearly 100m from a 5 ...

Re: NRL burns nearly 500k per day, fails to pay into the NRL Players Retirement fund

I was thinking a 25% pay cut for NRL Executive salaries wasn’t enough. But then I thought that this is currently the time period when they will really earn their pay dealing with the fallout. So I’m OK with the NRL response. Something I rarely say. They should've taken a 50% cut for now or just not...

So the deal was announced. Club grants until October. NRL cuts costs by 53% including 93% staff stood down and a 25% exec pay cut. Players paid 50% until October. They are hoping to restart in July but this should allow clubs to survive until next year. NRL agrees recovery plan with clubs The Nation...

103m on Events, Games and Sponsorship - Would that include Venue Fees for finals, rep games etc? Yep, but I don't think that would be the majority. Major Events was listed as 11m expense and generated 16m revenue. It lists Digital, Marketing, Sponsorship servicing as also part of that group and inc...

yeah, the guy has a bit of a dodgy history doesnt he? but anyways 180m annual administration cost is disgusting. Thats more then the total salary cap for all the players. Re: NRL burns nearly 500k per day, fails to pay into the NRL Players Retirement fund

GE says the NRL don’t watch what the AFL has been doing. What is becoming abundantly clear is the NRL are like that neighbour that has to keep up and potentially beat the Joneses. But what they don’t realise is they earn a much smaller income than the Joneses. That is not to say there aren’t many, ...

I reckon Whitehead and CNK deserve a bench spot. But you have to drop out players... you can only have 21. It's tough. I'd drop Bateman, I think his grand final week contract talks just loses him the spot to Whitehead. CNK will just miss out for now to Schif, but it's a matter of time for him to ta...

So the AFL has announced a deal with the players association. 50%, and then something for each remaining game. NRL due to announce early next week. That's a very good deal for the players.
