Re: POLL: Strongest 2020 line up: Bench forwards
I did, I’m just banging on because I think it’s a ridiculous scenario for the club to be in whilst arguably still in a premiership window.

That was terrible. Paine should hand in his double pluggers, esky and disappear back into the Tassie wilderness.. Starc needs to go, keep him around for short form cricket. Re: POLL: Strongest 2020 line up: Bench forwards
This is insanely difficult, particularly as I don't have CHN in my top 17, based on his 2020... and unless Dunamis Lui puts in form like the second half of 2020, I'm not entirely sure he's a certainty for the top 17, long term, either. But I agree Dunamis certainly merits being there on the basis o...

Re: The Cricket Thread
Just on T20s. With the World Cup around the corner the selectors have some make or break decisions coming up. If the all rounder is to bat #7 it has to be Dan Christian, absolutely no questions asked. Marsh keeps breaking down and Stoinis is nothing but an opening bat (cost us the 50 over World Cup)...

Starc is copping it and rightly so but Jeeze Lyon has had an absolutely rubbish series! He has added more with the bat then he has with the ball.... Re: POLL: Strongest 2020 line up: Second rowers
Do he should. Stuart didn’t take the risk of signing him for him to be used as a battering ram bench forward. He played that role last year for a multitude of reasons that all made sense.
This season he will be back to 100% fitness and straight in to replace Bateman as he was signed to do.

Re: POLL: Strongest 2020 line up: Second rowers
CHN left second row with Whitehead reverting to the right. The best ball player in the team gains the best line runner in the team. The limited ball playing halfback gains a genuine ball playing forward on the right side of the field to assist. Whitehead is also switched on as a short kick chaser so...

Re: The Cricket Thread
That'll do for Wade. They wanted to bring in Pucovski and it was between him and Head to see who made way. He's not taken that lifeline so in the absence of alternative Head deserves a recall. As a comparison between the two. Career Test Average: Wade 29.87 Head 39.75 Recent form (since Ashes): Wad...

Smith should never captain again imo. Unfortunately the best captain option doesn’t bat well enough to retain his place ahead of Matt Wade apparently.

Are people saying Valemei has ‘more upside’ because he’s Fijian? Yes Julian there can be no other reasons  Well before I posted the biggest positive thing said about him was that he ‘makes things happen’ besides his errors. So besides that and breaking more tackles (but actually making less ...

Just watched Breath (2017) on Netflix, directed and featuring Simon Baker, based on the Tim Winton novel. Very good film, enjoyed it. I thought it was very ordinary as a fan of the novel. The story was actually a story within the story and all context of why it was even told was absent in the film....

Disagree with an outside back on the bench that was mentioned earlier. Havili or Starling to be the utility.
Whitehead covers halves.
A slimmer, fitter CHN via Tapine/Young covers centre.

Re: Jordan Rapana re-signs with Canberra Raiders on a one year deal
Happy with this. Yes speed in our backs is a concern but I haven’t forgotten Simonsson and hope his return is key. Having had a bit of time to reassess 2020 after being rather apathetic about it at the time gee Rapana at centre rather than Cotric was a horrific coaching move. It made sense in attack...

The 2 I can think of are Craig Smith and Danny Williams.
Williams played pff the bench in the 99 grand final and Smith was famously knocked out by Ainscough for the winning penalty try.

I know he’s been put out or pasture but with Warner out Khawaja really has to play. Burns sucks and Is only in the frame because Warner likes him. Pucovski looks the real deal but the concussion thing is an issue. + Whiteman > Harris, Marsh and Burns as well imo. You can pick a stop gap opener (expe...

Re: 2020 in review - Stalwarts and debutants
I was genuinely surprised as how well Matt Frawley went in that cronulla game We know Sam Williams to be a capable half for short stints in FG. So his performance was not surprising, but Frawley's was. He looked capable of filling in for a game or two and defending his position should be called on....

2020 was the least amount of football I’ve watched in years so I really can’t speak on his foray into first grade. ACL injuries are a killer as we know and all of the reserve players came in with no footy under their belt so those 2 doubled = a forgive to use a racing term. It would be a mistake to ...

I normally don’t like edge back row stats because so much work is done off the ball in attack and positionally in defense.
But that post really does underline what is being said in this thread.
