Re: Matt Frawley elevated to Canberra Raiders top 30

I get the feeling Bateman (or even Whitehead) are going to see a bit of the centres this year. Can’t say I’m too disappointed with this though, Frawley looked very good when he began with the Dogs but then just fell off a cliff. Hard to judge him harshly when that club has been a shambles for the l...

Who will be Ricky Stuart's pet project 2020?

Couldn't find the similar old thread to bump, sorry. Stuart has a history of accelerating the career of a left field player so far in his Raiders coaching career. We've seen Allwood, Bateman, Priest etc in his time here. Last year I'd say that player was Simonsson. Signed as a bit of an unknown he w...

Re: 2020 NRL Nines: Teams and Game Day

Reckon Timoko looks a lot more advanced than Valemei and looks a genuine centre which we might need given the current predicament.

Re: Matt Frawley elevated time Canberra Raiders top 30

Hmm not a fan of that with the Scott and Kris situations. Frawley was better off left development as there’d need to be 3 injuries to specific players for him to play. 2. And williams has been dealing with injury in the preseason. We will also be missing wighton during origin. I think a 4th half is...

Re: 2020 NRL Nines: Teams and Game Day

Williams has easily been our worst out there.... He is trying to do too much and has nothing to offer... Was the best player imo. Yeah, other than that pushed pass he was good. Anyway, you can't turn the ball over 5 times and duff up 2 kickoffs and get close to winning these games, but I thought we...

Can’t see why we shouldn’t beat the Titans with the team we have named. Havilii will go well in this format, so too Starling.
Could definitely beat them. They should be strong favorites though imo.

I'm liking the Lara love. Always rated him a notch higher than Tendulkar, Kallis and Ponting who all tend to be grouped together. All have similar averages in international cricket but Lara played 70% or more of his test career in some pretty ordinary batting lineups. He only just crossed over care...

Also; good on Cronulla for not releasing Josh Morris. Ramien got sniped off them and they signed Morris as the affordable alternative. They took the punt on him at 32 when it looked like his best might be behind him and from memory the only other club who went for him was the Titans. He performed wel...

Re: Cronulla Sharks 2020

Looking back on it he was always going to struggle when he slowed up and he became less durable. His lack of ability to do anything creative with the ball was always evident but because he had such a strong, bouncing running game it didn't matter so much as a young fella. It also seems pretty obviou...

I’m going against the grain and saying I like this set up. Only 2 games seems stupid but current tournaments are showing shorter is better. That news that Murchie looks destined for the middle seems pretty silly short term while Young is out imo.

Our past options of shifting Papa and Sia are now just that; past options. It leaves only 4 edge forward options in the entire squad which is precarious.

Good signing but they’re still well and truly in the race for the spoon this season and no chance of the 8. I’d have the Titans and Dragons in the same boat. Dragons have a better squad but it’s on the downward slide across the board and that’s hard to halt.

Matt, how can you say Swepo coming into the squad for the Sydney test doesn't mean a lot? Surely means he's the no2 spinner in the eyes of selectors. Because of the 4 posts above this 1 Huh? :? Swepson is #2 atm but with Marnus Locked in I think he’s surplus to requirements atm.

I still think O’Keefe would be a better pick when next in the sub continent giving us both varieties of finger spin + Marnus’ leggies.

SOK should still be the 2nd spinner imo. Was actually unlucky not to be given a decent go way back before the settled on Lyon. His performance has always outweighed the selectors opinion of him.
