Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

We’re not signing any cast offs from other clubs now. There’s only one spot left, two if Rushton doesn’t come in 2021. The last spot likely goes to one of our own fringe players. They’ve just signed Aekins, they’re not going to sign Corey Allan, Josh Mansour (thankfully) or anyone with a “name”. Th...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

I don’t think it’s as difficult to rejuvenate the wings/centres. Good positions to bring in young cheap kids. Reckon it’ll be ok. I hope you are right. I’m counting down the days before the Roosters come poaching one of our halves ...and it took us 30 years to find proper halves.. I agree that our ...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

Souths release Corey Allan, this guy is talent, hope Raiders take bite at this. He would be perfect. Great young talent - ball playing fullback so would help our attack enormously. You could move CNK to either wing or centre and he would be brilliant there as well. You would move on Curtis Scott in...

Re: Jarrod Croker to miss start of 2021 season after shoulder surgery

Goal kicker will be interesting. I expect Simo to play and take the reins. I wouldn't be surprised if Sticky plays Rapana there, with Scott on the right and Valemei the other winger. I hope not but I also could see him doing it. It depends a lot on trial form so let’s hope two of Timoko/HSS/Scott s...

Re: Jarrod Croker to miss start of 2021 season after shoulder surgery

According to the story, Croker underwent delicate “bony Bankart lesion” surgery on Tuesday, Rapana has had a similar injury previously. Five months rehab minimum. Return Rd 4-6. This explains his performance against Melbourne. Very brave from the skipper although Stuart and his medical staff should...

Re: 2020 NRL Grand Final: Teams and Game Day

Why was everybody going for the Storm? To me, it is completely dispiriting watching the Storm or the Roosters win every year and to be honest I can’t see it any different next year. It says a lot that the Storm were preferred to the alternative. Arrogant, entitled team that had been handed a dream ...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

I agree with Naden as he can play both centre and wing. If not him James Roberts might be worth a punt - a high risk one I’d admit. The thing with Roberts also is that we could potentially deal with Souths (we have an over abundance of middle forwards and that is probably their weak point)

Re: Team for next year

The thing about Croker, as I see it, is that if you go back a few years, he seemed to be regarded (rightly) pretty much by everyone as a complete turnstile. Bur he worked on, and improved, his defence, and people stopped talking about it. Now those defensive frailties seem to have re-emerged (or is...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

Whare is !@#$. Won't be upgrading anyone. Downgrade. Naden, James Roberts are worth a go at a discounted price with Souths paying half the freight. How about Ben Barba as well (subject to NRL approval)? Would be cheap (minimum contract) Naden would be great as he could play wing or centre. James Ro...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

It's quite sad Dean Whare is going unused at the Panthers while we have Curtis Scott playing right centre, probably on a comparable salary. Why is it sad? We might be in a similar situation with Curtis Scott next year. We could use Whare if we had the money in the bank. Not sure about his recent fo...

Kai O'Donnell is listed as a second rower. Not sure if he'd actually turn out there in first grade. Really looks like a lock. His best position is in the back row but his job this year was to give us some minutes up the middle. We are ok for young forwards going forward. Most of you don’t know the ...

I’m thinking off the top of my head around the more recent excitement some Raiders fans had for outside backs Seb Kris, Brad Abbey, Zac Santo, Jeremy Hawkins, Matt Allwood, Semi Saulima, Nathan Massey. I would think Cotric is our only gun outside back to come through in a very long time. A decade a...

Harley Smith-Shields played one full game (in which he suffered a hand injury), and 31 minutes in another. Matt Timoko played one full game, and 35 minutes in another. I don't think it's just about "bigger contracts". It's also about experience. He has a history of favouring first graders out of position instead of bringing in juniors.
