Re: The Politics Thread 2024
To me that’s all well and good. But there’s a line beyond which it’s wasted. Given I’m not going to convince them, I’m going to let them know I think they’re a ****. Yeah they’ll probably push back and that won’t help either. But I think it’s probably still significantly better than the kid gloves ...

The vast majority of American voters consider the other guy to be an affront to democracy, completely unfit for office and a danger to America and the world. I reckon when you're at that point, your democracy is probably not going to last much longer, whoever wins.

Trump threatens to hasten the decline of a system of democracy already in serious decline. Biden doesn't deserve re-election. It's a terrible, terrible situation with no 'good' outcome possible.

Trump's win at the Supreme Court is going to sting for a while. :roflmao Interesting use of the laughing emoji. Why? It was so obviously a stupid move by the Colorado court and it has only served to boost Trump, who was a pretty terrible president and likely will be again. It's a terrible own goal.

Guler, Saulo and Hoppa have no business in an NRL top 17. They are bog average with the ball in hand and they stink defensively.

This is what a Ricky Stuart rebuild looks like. A mix of youth that is either too raw (Chevy/Strange/Sanders) or sub-par(Hoppa/Saulo), mixed in with a few very well paid forwards long past their best and declining.

Leadership and culture start at the top, yet we retain a board, CEO and coach that demonstrably couldn't lead a conga line.

There's 100+ years of incredibly complex history here, probably longer. If you don't know it, advocate for peace. We can't, as a country sit on the fence and hold our collective heads high when we stand in the way of what is right and what is consistent with the international rule of law, we helped ...

Interesting part about how a peace agreement was reached between Israel and PLO, I think in the 90s, and Hamas literally blew it up . Helped shape Israel's current no negotiation mindset. Hanan Ashrawi tells a very different story and she was there. I'll happily admit that I don't know a lot about ...

It’s also extremely likely the whole Hamas attack was organised by Iran for reasons I discussed a few weeks ago, it’s just the US and Israel have dialed back any rhetoric directly accusing them because they just don’t want a wider scale conflict. Extremely likely is a big call, given the history. P...

We've never had a squad at the level of the Panthers. It's chalk and cheese. Their halfback is and will continue to be the best halfback of this generation. That's quite important in winning. As the Head Honcho of the Rickyheads my answer is yes! All the good coaches have that one superstar player that is like a Coach on the field. Bellamy had Smith. Walters has Reynolds. Penrith have Cleary. Our spine is on paper worse than a few other teams who failed to make the 8. Club has to land a...

Gritty Canberra Raiders aim to drag down surging Brisbane Broncos Canberra’s grinding style and ability to win close games means coach Ricky Stuart feels like his team has been playing finals all season. “It’s certainly part of the DNA, and something I like to have as a coach,” he said. “If you can...

We're probably winning one more game and it will be this weekend and only because the Dogs are by far the worst team in the competition at the moment.
Results, should that be the case could have us miss the eight altogether.

In the current setup, yes. But when Chevy, Sanders, Strange, etc make it to first grade... my HOPE is we become more of an attacking team. I know Ricky is often criticised for his forward-dominated and boring game plan, but I think that's largely because of the players we have in the team. There is...
