Re: Raiders recruit Newcastle Knights Jersey Flegg captain Myles Martin

Sobering article in the Telegraph today looking at those who played in the Under 20s origins from 2012-2019 who have gone onto play senior Origin. Qld 2018 is the best with 7 having since played Origin. (Allan, Taulagi, Brimson, Flegler, Grant, Carrigan, Horsburgh and Fa'asuamaleaui) It wasn't play...

Didn’t really rate him highly but he has been impressive lately. I like having a smaller and quicker prop in the squad as well. Pretty hard to fit him in though.

Re: English second rower Matty Nicholson agrees to terms with Raiders

Pretty sure we only have one spot left for 2025 and we are chasing the dragons kid. Doesn’t look like we re-sign anyone? 1. Hohepa Puru 2. Jordan Rapana 3. Nick Cotric 4. Zac Woolford 5. Peter Hola CHN you would think is sorted by that point. Whitehead retires and Schiller to Newcastle would make 8...

Re: English second rower Matty Nicholson agrees to terms with Raiders

Why has he played for three clubs already Newcastle aren't a superleague club. That was just for experience. Warrington gave him a good three year deal at 18 to get him from Wigan, who weren't happy about it. Basically a Sanders type deal. Warrington Wolves sign Wigan youngster Matty Nicholson: htt...

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup

Looks like Lewis got signed by Salford. I reckon he will go well over there, he reminds me of some of a typical English forward. Salford linked with move for Aussie prop as they look to down champs Wigan SALFORD may prop up their pack with an immediate move for Canberra Raiders forward Loghan Lewis....

Yeah, I'm not sure Young will even play on the edge with Olakau'atu there as well. He is covering for injuries and will probably have a stint in the middle at some point.

Re Smithies, do you think Horse (once he's back) and Puru's defence is that bad, that warrants picking someone marginally better in that area but much worse work with the ball?! Regardless of the abstract attack vs defence argument, if you think Smithies at #13 is better than a fit Horse at #13, I ...

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup

Disappointed to lose Lewis, I thought he was a quality prospect especially as a defensive player. I guess he was falling down the depth chart though. Did he get a Superleague gig? As for Trev, I agree the writing is on the wall unless something drastic happens. In hindsight they should've probably l...

Interesting Smithies only played 55 minutes yesterday. I don’t think he was injured, so maybe Ricky is seeing some of his shortcomings on both sides of the ball.

Re: 2024 Round 12 v Roosters: Game Day

I don’t think Smithies is that good a defender though, at least for a specialist defensive player. He has a high workrate but his lack of mobility gets caught out at NRL level at times. I also think once sometimes once someone gets the workhorse tag they tend to get a lot less attention paid to thei...

Clydesdale is 19, which is like 15 in Ricky middle years. I think he will be a very good player. Hopefully Patuki-case can come back from his injuries because he seemed a real prospect. Be interesting to see who gets picked this year. I guess Chevy is still eligible and you'd think Noah Martin gets ...

You cannot compare Canberra to the Panthers. Penrith are in the middle of the absolute demographic gold mine for a NRL development club. They still have to work at it but it's just not even remotely the same situation.
