Re: 2024 Round 15 v Cowboys: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

I can see Strange as 18th man in a dead rubber, that's probably it for this year though. I do think the idea of "origin standard" players is a bit of a myth. I'd say the majority of players who manage a 5+ year NRL career will end up playing Origin at some point, it's not as high a bar as...

Re: Rugby League 2024

If they want to eventually go to 20 teams they need to grow the player pool and Perth isn't going to do that in any meaningful way. I reckon they should've gone NZ 2.

Re: Gold Coast Titans 2024

Interesting signing to watch. I don't remember a spine player coming across in Australia pretty much ever (I don't count players like Wally and Sticky who were League juniors).

If he does succeed it would probably lead to a lot more recruiting out of Union.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

This reminds me of the Jack still gets paid saga. I had to laugh at Richardson saying he would go to the NRL for anti tampering as well. I think they've rushed him. He is the best player in his age group but the Tigers instantly needed him to be the best player in an NRL side, and when you are needl...

I guess Galvin is injured or not eligible. I kind of expected Chevy wouldnt be considered since he has played NRL as well. Well done to he and Martin.

I kind of expected to see a few more Raiders given the lower grade performances but I guess a lot of the Flegg guys like Clydesdale are too old.

Re: Junior Blues back Savelio Tamale agrees to two year deal to join Raiders

He can play anywhere from 1 to 5, those types of players can play 15-20 games a year without ever being first choice in a single position. I think he is more competing with Hoppa in that role like Schiller did. I really don’t think he instantly leaps Asomua on the wing, but he will compete for a spot.

Yeah, hooker they can upgrade for sure. On age alone I would think maybe Pattie could play some NRL next year but the others are at least 2 to 3 years away.

Looks like they dropped the ball the entire first half. Mooney playing 80 is a good effort, although his numbers are what he normally does in 40. Hoppa did well by the looks of it.

It does look like Asomua came off after 34 minutes, hopefully it's nothing serious.

With Chevy it could just be a case of resting him. He is the youngest regular player in the entire NSW cup, I am sure even that level is tough on him physically after a couple of years. He has looked a bit below his best since he dropped back down, but Rapa is also looking pretty tired at times.

They’d never put a starting spot in a contract but they give them top 30 spots and I am sure verbally they would be told its their spot for the taking. There are probably options out there which require a certain number of games as well. Someone like Votano with likely 17 clubs chasing him has a lot...

I read Sharpe may play today ahead of Armstrong. He is signed until 2026 as well. Votano is probably the most hyped player in that age group, there would be a lot of competition for him so you'd have to offer him a first grade spot. Guess they could work it out once he was here.

Only caught the last 50 minutes but Tamale killed it in the NSW Cup battle of future Raiders tonight. Super impressive with the ball, he made a couple of huge runs beating about half the Eels side that would get any Raiders fan excited (2nd one is 65th minute if you have NSWRLTV). Good write up and pretty fair overall.
