Re: 2019 Trial 1 V Eels: Teams and Game Day

2 trials is good news. Hopefully our spine is settled by round 1, instead of like this year where we played around with it for the first 6 rounds

Re: Nail it or fail again - What is the pass mark for the Raiders in 2019?

A top 8 finish with a well disciplined team is a pass for me. If we make the top 8 by winning flukey games, lose games because of brain explosions and still have poor defence, I class that as a fail.

I just can’t believe we haven’t started shifting players yet. Players should have already been moved on to accommodate TPJ. Like seriously, when do we ever get a player of that caliber come to us wanting to play! This board infuriates me.

Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson

I'd love to see it happen... but I don't believe the club has the capability or ruthlessness to pull off the deal to be honest. If they do... hats off. Nor do I believe Shaun Johnson would see Canberra as a desirable location, given what he's said about the city in the past. Who knows what his part...

Re: Nail it or fail again - What is the pass mark for the Raiders in 2019?

Just did some maths as I had a curious moment - teams average finishing positions (during regualr season) during Ricky's reign: Storm - 2.8 Roosters - 4 Broncos - 4.8 Panthers - 6.6 Cowboys - 6.6 Sharks - 6.8 Rabbits - 7.4 Bulldogs - 8.4 Sea Eagles - 9 Dragons - 9.2 Raiders - 9.4 Warriors - 10.6 Ee...

How can we not have cash for TPJ, Boyd left not because we didn't have money but because the Raiders weren't prepared to pay what he was asking. His position hasn't been filled unless I'm missing someone, there's also Paulo. The club just used the “not playing overs” excuse to cover up that they ov...

After watching the Storm last night I have to agree with those that have mentioned Drinkwater. Very, very good prospect. The Storm will likely keep Munster going forward meaning Croft, Drinkwater and Hughes will be battling for two spots. If I'm the Storm I keep Drinkwater and maybe Croft just over...

Raiders player signing speculation 2018

Considering Lui was probably paid around $180k this season, I’d say he was good value. My guess is he is probably on about $320k (plus or minus) for the next three years. You need to sign a Lui to be able to afford a Papalli in your pack. You don’t need a Lui, you need a player of his ilk on next t...

If we wanted him enough and had the ruthlessness needed to win premierships, the Raiders could have recruited him. Our salary cap management, however, is poor. TPA’s come down to the corporate network of your CEO, Board and coach. Unfortunately our coach isn’t liked, our CEO has no real network or contacts and the board is to union heavy. That’s why we can’t get TPA’s like the roosters and other clubs.

I suspect that’s all that’s all that’s possible given what’s left in the cap. I agree, the only way to get a good signing is still to trade current players. If TPJ like player or a good half comes available every player on our roster should be reviewed and traded where necessary. However we don’t h...

A big part that sport psychologists work on is routine with players. This is because when the pressure is on, your go to is your routine. Melbourne Storm are well trained at this. Didn’t see the game but winning again now just proves it is a mental thing for the team. When the pressure is on either through a close game or purely when we are chasing wins to make the 8 we just aren’t there mentally. Instead is an assistant coach we need physiologists in the team, but Ricky won’...

It's hard not to agree. The Raiders need a top line playmaker to join Hodgson in the spine. We know it isn't happening and the coach is contracted to 2020. So what needs to happen is getting the assistant coaching resources in, in 2019, who can help make the difference.
