Re: 2019 State of Origin I: Queensland V New South Wales

I heard a rumor today there was a bit of unrest between some NSW players due to some of the indigenous players not singing the national anthem. Walker, Carr and Latrell were a bit lost out there last night and lacked communication amongst the team. Can see how they can see this being related Sent f...

Canberra Raiders close in on major signing coup with Melbourne Storm centre Curtis Scott

Sorry but the elephant in the room is why bring another centre in to create competition when it is shown that Croker is untouchable and we already have Cotric applying pressure on BJ’s position.

It sounds like another pointless recruitment. We need front rowers above all else at the moment.

Let Jack walk at that price. He was rocks and diamonds all year and only played a handful of good games (in the finals I admit)

NRL blocks Jordan Rapana's return from Japanese union in 2020

What excuses the NRL breaking their own contract deadline to allow Jarryd Hayne to join the Titans? I can't imagine what can possibly excuse it. There is absolutely no reason to treat the return of Jordan Rapana differently to the return of Mark Gasnier. They wanted those players back under any cir...

Sam has his haters but I loved how we played the game and followed his dream to play in the NRL.

Russell Crow was the only person who would give him ago and Sam stayed loyal to him for it. I hope he finds a career after NRL.

Rapana wants to stay with Raiders

As captain, sit down all the players and ask them if they want to win premierships or more money.

If they want premierships, tell them to all pull their heads in and take what’s on offer and not push the club to amounts they can’t afford

Yes, I concur the low point was losing the grand final. Probably the lowest point was Tedesco running into score the winner.

Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

I’m confident about Bateman staying not so much Wighton. Some of the bottom 8 teams have a bit in reserve available in the cap which worries me. They could go big and with the amount of international players in our team, our cap might be too tight to match an aggressive offer. I’m confident Jack wil...

Re: Canberra Raiders prepared to let grand final centre Joey Leilua walk

I hope we're not picking up more than $100k of his salary...but I guess it all comes down to what the ultimate cost and opportunities are with other players. I hope he plays on to a high level, but that whole ruptured vertibra issue was a concern. I think it's 150k, Seiff. Pretty sure his current d...

Yeah I think his brother is there.

I think the Dragons will perform much better next year. They signed Shane Flanagan as assistant coach but he will be basically running the show. They were also quite disrupted with the off field stuff ie. Jack De Berlin saga this year

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

I think Croker needs to be added to that list with Sezer and Rapana at some point, whether that's now or next season, as much as his staunch supporters don't want to hear it. That's three players easily identified who are on decent coin, yet could be replaced without much effect. We've done this al...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

Jack is a great player but he isn’t the most important cog in the green machine. I’d have Papa, Hodgo, and Bateman ahead of him in terms of priority signing/key players. The $1m players are the most important number 1 players at a club - Taumololo, Cronk, DCE. In terms of value for another club Jac...

I think the following players would be potential to walk out on there current deal to come to Canberra to win a premiership

Shaun Johnson
Adam Reynolds
Anthony Milford
Mitchell Pearce
Cody Walker

Almost all good halves who crave a premiership would become available if Jack left IMO

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

I'm not sure that's what he's on - it's what the extension option was, and I think it was a raise on what he's currently on. I'm pretty sure the club has been roundly bagged over the past few seasons for the type of money they were paying him to play fullback. Those were the numbers bandied around....

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

DFJ said earlier this year that he wanted to assure Raiders fans that he was spending the entire salary cap. Since then we have signed Gwilliams. If we are to increase payment to JB and Jack then some familiar faces will have to go. I would move Young on but that won't release much cap space. Who e...

$750k is about where the value is for Jack I’m sorry to say. He still has a lot to work on in his game. Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021

And here we go, Raiders won’t make another grand final Beyond 2020+ now for quite a few years.

Greed takes over as always. Players won’t sacrifice to stay together to win premierships instead would prefer to be paid more and be in losing teams.

Next thing is, Croker will want something ridicules!

thanks for the reply. i'm surprised there is no cap at all. Essentially with the $9+ million for the salary cap for players, the TPAs could bump that up several million dollars if there were "sponsors" willing to help. Yes, indeed. The last figures provided by the NRL... which was dragged out them ...

does anyone know what the cap for TPA's are in total? There isn’t a cap, a player can earn as much as they want for paid promotional activities however the NRL is cracking down on it. Williams needs to be re-signed. He’s the best back up half in the NRL. Surely if Sezer gets an offer from the Broncos or Bulldogs, he takes it even if it is a little less money. His value will drop dramatically if he spends the whole season at Mounties. We need to keep one of Sezer or Williams at l...
