Re: Josh Hodgson and Bailey Simonsson ruled out for 2020 season

It’s not the end of the world. If we can crack the top 8 we will get Bateman, Sia, Horsburgh and Guler back in time for the finals. As big a blow as losing Hodgson is, we get adequate back up in Havilii and our backline, less Simonssen, is virtually intact. We can hopefully sign a few decent replace...

Re: Cameron Smith finally dethroned as best hooker in NRL... by Josh Hodgson

I like Hodgo as a hooker. Quick, clean ball to his forwards, the occasional dart from dummy half and the intelligent plays on 5th tackle. But when he tries to be the half back and chief playmaker we fall apart. He doesn’t have the long range passing or short kicking game and unless he’s close to the...

Re: OFFICIAL: Bateman 'won't be at Raiders in 2020

I’d prefer the Raiders not release him from his contract, and relegate him to Mounties if he didn’t put in. For the following reasons: 1. signal to other players that if you join the Raiders you will see out your contract, even if you don’t play. Weed out the money grabbers. 2. give confidence to th...

Wait till next week when we win and everyone will be happy with Ricky again. And then the following week when we lose and people will question whether he is the right man for the job. And the week after that when we win and those concerns will have been well and truly put to bed. Then the following ...

How bad is Scott? He looks like a park footballer out there. His defense is meh and offers NOTHING in attack. NOTHING. NOTHING! Is it because he’s good looking? Is it because he’s an ex Melbourne player and apparently all Melbourne players are good at football? Is he still suffering the affects of b...

Re: Curtis Scott and our best backline

Our best backline is

Cotric - Croker - Leilua - Rapana

But some wise folks on here and in the Raiders boardroom determined that Scott was better than BJ, and managed to make themselves look foolish and destroyed our season prospects.

Losing Rapana was a blow but losing BJ as well is detrimental to prospects next season. Neither Scott or Simonsson are the in the same calibre as those two (yet, probably ever) and its hard to fathom that we can go one better than last year with an overall slightly weaker squad. Re: Canberra Raiders' Aidan Sezer again linked to Huddersfield Giants

Best outcome for all parties. Rather than being a fringe NRL player he can to England where he will probably tear it up and earn more money anyway. Wont miss him terribly, overall a very mediocre half who tried his best and ocassionally showed true class.

Re: Canberra Raiders prepared to let grand final centre Joey Leilua walk

I'd be disappointed to lose BJ, though it sounds likely. While our other outside backs are solid he adds that x-factor to our side and we really need it - Cotric / Simo / Croker etc are all solid in my view, but we need someone with that match turning ability. That's right. Solid is top 8, maybe an...

Re: Canberra Raiders prepared to let grand final centre Joey Leilua walk

BJ is a marquee player, the type that can win you Grand Finals (and sometimes lose them). He would have played SOO by now if it weren’t for injury. Not only would I be disappointed to see him go, I posit that it would be a massive blow to our GF aspirations next season. I’m all for giving young lads...

Is George Williams natural position half back or five eighth? His build and highlights make him appear more of a five eighth but we already have one of those, a very good one in fact. Players aren’t going to accept a massive pay cut because of loyalty. Wighton is worth more than 750k and will need to be around 1m if we’re to keep him. Caps lol

If scarves are cheap throw them in the pack, a cap won’t do much on a cold night game. After doing the Viking clap everyone can hold their scarf up and sing the team song

Then we should rip flares and start a bonfire in the grandstands.

I’m still miffed about the whole thing with the trainer incident. I'm not sure what's going on with Rapana. I think the whole refereeing system needs an overhaul, there’s simply too many rule and regulation these days. Too much focus on the refs. Tight contents like the gf will always come down to refs discretion , one way or the other. I think there’s a cognitive bias in fans to only perceive bias when it’s happening to their own team and ignore it when their own team gets the rub of the green. Don’t get me wrong...

The ball hitting the trainer was the correct call. It's the same as if it ht the ref: scrum to the attacking team.
