Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
If the prospect of a jail term hanging over his head for the next few months doesn’t straighten him out, nothing ever will.

Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
We don’t know the charges don’t qualify for the NRL stand down rule. From what I’ve read, it possibly could. The laws around assaulting NSW police officers are severe. Getting sacked or stood down could be the least of his concerns right now: 5 years prison for assault Not causing harm 7 years if a...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021
When you look at the other names thrown around of players on $1m, the majority bring a lot of leadership to the table. Cronk, Thurston, DCE carry the on field leadership, organiser, captaincy role - they own and run the team. Jack is a massive talent and leads by example but I don’t think he’s orga...

Re: Jack Wighton turns down Raiders option to go on open market for 2021
Up until this year I've torn my hair out watching Wighton play his inconsistent games and would have had no issue with him being dropped. Sure he had some cracking games, particularly in defence, but he also dropped heaps of balls, was never in the hunt of biggest meters gained and wasn't exactly a ...

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Game Day
I’m feeling sick to the stomach. The calls were bad, no doubt, but for Annesley to come out and say that it was the right call??? Absolutely puts spotlights on the lack of integrity of the match officials. At least have the decency to say “he shouldn’t have changed his mind”. Is he saying that from ...

So from this game Souffs will just be missing Walker won’t they ? Hassler’s blow up over the refereeing has left me in a hypocritical quandary. Back in 2016 I blew up over Jack being sent off for a professional foul in very similar circumstances in the final against the Sharks - my words “should ha...

If the MRC ignore social media and apply the McGuire logic (which is what they should do) then it’s a facial with a monetary fine. The big assumption here is consistency. When McGuire was fined the second time Buetner came out saying that each case is reviewed independently and that priors were not...

Cracked up watching the Tigers Panthers game. Toward the end of the game Maloney was pushed whilst chasing a chip through by Cleary. Tried to milk a penalty. The slow mo of his flailing arms and tragic dive was dead set hilarious - as good as I’ve seen in any European soccer game (and a total failur...

Jack is an experienced player in training as a half. Williams is an experience player, playing for England as a half. Logic suggests getting Williams on board is a good move.

How about if while the presumption of innocence is in effect, but for good optics you have to stand player down (I.e DeBelin) you can apply for dispensation and get it, BUT if the player is found guilty they lose the cap dispensation and have to get cap compliant again (shed players) this way it’s ...

Definitely not Australian or for that matter NZ psyche. Move the Haka to post game wins???? The Clap has given the Raiders huge media attention. I also hate the Viking clap now. Loses SO much significance when we then run out and play like busted **** afterwards. Austin's lost us more games in the last 2 seasons than any other player. One 15 minute blitzkrieg against the Bulldogs doesnt change much What it does do is make me sad. Players at that level are well capable of playing in numerous positions. I’m sure Ricky will be able to find one for him. I’d certainly prefer a proven international over an unproven prop (which is all $400k will get you). In any case, I’m not convinced on the big bopper strategy - certainly didn’t ...

Cameron Smith finally charged for chicken wishbone tackle. He lifts and turns players legs more than any other player in the game. I think he did it 5 times in the semifinal they beat us in. Ref all the discussion on best places to live. My original point was simply that Canberra is not that bad a place that we need to pay massive overs to get players here. The issue is that good players want to play in a comp winning team or get paid a shed load of money to join a lesser team. The Raid...

Hope and dread - not a good formula for a happy afternoon. I’ll be at the game cheering of course. I hope they axe the Viking clap until we get a few wins. It seems terribly ironic at the moment. OK, maybe not a good example. Lets try a different way. If we had Melbournes winning record and Bellemy as coach would we still need to pay overs? I suggest not much if any more than Melbourne does now.

The issue here is whilst I agree with the club's stance, everyone seems to have forgotten how hard it is to get players with the ceiling of Papalli and Paulo here. Even Paulo was here due to a fallout rather than a planned move. We've always had to pay overs because no one wants to come to Canberra...
