Re: Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart set to sign four-year contract extension

Has the guy, in over 20 years of coaching, shown excellence in what he does ? He's not a top tier / elite coach but middling / average coach. The concern is I don't recall him coaching and developing junior players, particularly in the spine, at his previous clubs and here. He's always gone out and ...

Braith on NRL360 with surprise: "2029??????" "But he's only won only one premiership in his career, that's a long deal, is it a bit odd to sign a long deal like that? Most coaches are defined by success." "I just thought the question had to be asked." Most intelligent t...

Is SportsBet / TAB providing any odds against Ricky winning a premiership in the next 5 years ?

May need to put some money on that instead of investing in the S&P500

So that’s another 5 years after this one?

Why don’t they give him 2 years contingent on making top 4 in those 2 years to trigger an extension ?

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

Has anyone heard whether we are in talks with Isaiah Papali'i of the Tigers? He's got another year left on his deal at Wests but they may have cap issues with upgrading Stefano (if he stays), Galvin and Luai joining. Fainu brothers on expensive deals and now one of them starts at 2nd row, pushing Ba...

Brisbane also got to play at home v Roosters a few weeks ago as their Vegas game was considered away. That's 12 home games for them (not counting games v Dolphins).

We have 11 home games plus the Suncorp game v Canterbury.

Re: Ethan Sanders signs three year deal with Canberra Raiders

Don't know why Sanders is the scapegoat for the Brisbane performance. He was actually creating opportunities with his passing. There were some errors like the pass to Dylan Brown which went slightly behind Brown which he dropped and then was picked up by Brisbane for a try but Talagi also had errors...

Also Jason Croker's chase of Jason Williams for the intercept try. Although Croker didn't get him, he was fast and didn't lose a metre on Williams the speedster.

What a great story, GE. I also remember the lead up to the game. In the Final v Norths, I was concerned we wouldn't get through as we were behind and Lomax got sent off. Greg McCullum fortunately evened it up by sending Gary Larson off. Then the Green Machine clicked into gear. I ended up watching t...

Looks like poor old Harley Smith-Shields has done his pec again for the Titans. Bad luck to him. He’s out for the season. But I’ve watched a few of the Titans games and he has been missing and he hasn’t got much attack. There’s always an error in his game as well. I think he’s lucky to be in FG but...

BB, now you’ve done a complete volte face after asserting that we were in the top 3 for recruitment. I'm talking about FG talent, BluesBrother. It's well and good to sign players who are young players looking for an opportunity here. Out of all the young FB, I like the Melbourne Storm guy - doesn’t he have some zip ? But Melbourne wouldn’t want to let him go.

If Rapana retires at the end of the year, we will need FB backup even if Chevy plays firsts. Don’t mind if it’s Fuller. Loved the chip and chase try.

The Dolphins are going very well for a second year club. Sadly they are more closer than us to a premiership. Their young HB Katoa has come on leaps and bounds and is not afraid to run the ball or throw a long pass, and it’s the best that I’ve seen Nikorima play. Fuller is playing well at the back a...

How can the salary cap be an equalizer when you have TPAs that are not counted towards the cap? But that’s the system. The cap has been in place since the 90s and we need to work better at attracting legitimate FG to our club. I like signing the best youth but we also need experienced players from t...

We struggled to put a compelling case to him to leave the GC even without Penrith and Roosters bidding for him last year. Objectively, Ricky isn’t a coach that players are attracted to playing for (SMH have an annual survey on this) and some players don’t want to live in Canberra. We’ve done well in...
