Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
We have too many forwards as it is - up until this week, mooney, horse, ata, puru and even hola playing cup footy. Even when whitehead and ( if ) papa retires this year ( which I don’t think he will ) we are still overloaded I don't think it would be all that difficult for us to release one of our ...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita... for a second time
Robson and Marshall-King are both free to negotiate in November I believe. If we've got cash to splash then why not get the ramp out again and have a crack? It will at least push up their prices and if we're lucky enough to land one then we're in a great position. We would want to be applying pressu...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita... for a second time
J Brailey excess to requirements at Newcastle, Smoothy or Mozer at broncos but both on contract, Brad Arthur's son at Parra and Hands looks decent too. Soni Luke might want a payday, Tyrone Wishart might like to start at 9. There's heaps of options Sent from my SM-S911B using Tapatalk Is Hands gett...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita... for a second time
Slim pickings for that position. The only starting hooker I can see coming off contract is Mitch Kenny. Next in line is Karl Lawton who's currently backup to Croker at Manly. ESL? Might be the only viable option. Worked last time. I don't know much about players available there can't make any sugge...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita... for a second time
Next year we will have Whitehead (estimated $600,000), Cotric ($600,000), Rapana ($500,000) coming off contract and do t look like being resigned. Coupled with the potential medical retirement of CHN. I would have thought there’s enough to sign both Fifita and a decent hooker. Given we may potentia...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews
If it gets that bad he will be dropped. Right now though he is our number 3 backrower and his minutes on the weekend reflected that status. You need 3 backrowers in the 17 so unless there is someone in cup doing better in that position it's Whiteheads to lose. Ata, Mooney, Guler and Saulo aren't in...

Re: 2024 Rd 4 v Sharks: Teams and Previews
Hors, Ata, Mooney, Saulo, Guler and Whitehead 6 have to go into 3. If you gave any other club their choice of 3 of these players, I am extremely confident in saying every single club would pick Hors, Ata and Mooney. That's purely subjective. And you know it. Would Mooney stroll into NQ? Broncos? Ro...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
I hope we're still interested in Fifita. Des hasn't had an impact as I thought he would. He would still be a huge acquisition for us. Although I do still think Fifita would add to our team, after seeing the performance of Hosking over the past few weeks I think there's less of a need to upgrade sec...

Re: 2024 Rd 3 v Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I am still hoping that Ricky names the team like this but that Hosking starts and Whitehead plays off the bench. I can see the reasoning behind Whitehead coming straight back in when he is fit. He's the club captain and there doesn't seem to be any indication that any of the players are unhappy wit...

Re: 2024 Rd 3 v Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
The team was the most likely but disappointing. I can handle Cotric over Schiller/others and I understand needing to bring the captain back in despite also thinking he’s not in our best 17 on ability. But I think a reasonable compromise would’ve been to start Elliott on the bench. This would’ve bee...

Low key I genuinely think the club thinks Horse has another week - he doesn’t need to return via cup. It’s suspension unlike the 36 year old second rower. Also because I’m still annoyed at the Guler selection… 2022: 76 run metres per game 2023: 87 run metres per game Career average of 0.83 tackle b...

I can see the decision to start Whitehead based on his status as captain but what I can't understand is the insistence on playing fourth string props over genuine talent. It absolutely does my head in.

Berry was backtracking on her Raiders at fault claims when she appeared on ABC radio yesterday afternoon and she’d surreptitiously shifted her blame from the Raiders to an unnamed stadium staffer. Interested to know why people think Cotric should be selected this week over Schiller. Schiller is absolutely tearing it up at NSW cup level and couldn't have really done much more to put his hand up imo. He was unlucky to miss out in round 1 but didn't sook and had a proper crack in NSW cup which i...

If Whitehead must be selected in the 17 then it has to be on the bench imo. Young has a claim on his starting position and dropping him would be unwarranted. Hosking does not own his starting position, however he's currently fourth overall on the Dally M leaderboard.

The weight of players and the fitness has been a huge focus over the off season. The coaches were not happy with how we showed up physically last season.
