Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Woolford hasn’t shown any more in previous seasons than Levi has this season. Much of a muchness between the two. But Woolf has certainly shown more than Starling has this season. I can't agree BJ. DL was missing just over 3 tackles per match in his 60 minutes game time this season up to last week....

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
I think that's true if we try to play the same way. With 2 running five-eighth's we will need to adjust our style to suit the players we have. We can't rely on a Fogarty style kicking game for the next 12 weeks. It's really more about that for me. The reason Parramatta have failed is because they t...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
They will need him - Origin period. Kaeo Weekes has signed a 2 year deal. Flying a bloke in for 4 weeks and saying to Kaeo we don't think you're good enough isn't good management IMO. Had the potential to create unnecessary waves within the playing group. We're not that desperate at the moment. Add...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
I doubt Pezet would be going anywhere tbh. Why would the storm let him go unless it was a fair dinkum Harry Grant situation. They would have to be able to get him back at any point they like if one of their halves go down. Munster is playing injured and is far from 100%. He will need to be nursed t...

Soni Luke? Gordon Chan Kum Tong? Tyson Smoothy? Sam Verills? Luke and Smoothy have 2025 left (free to negotiate in N...

Re: Hooker for 2025 and future years
Number 4 action item is to hint around for external options. If we have to do the Strange/Stewart/Sanders thing and pluck the most promising 16 year old hooker in the country for overs, so be it. I think with our young spine we should be looking to prioritise bringing in a bloke with experience at ...

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Teams and Previews
Starling only played 14 minutes even after Fogarty didn’t play the whole second half. He needs to be dropped. Levi played 75 minutes - so either get Puru in there who can cover hooker as needed and actually cover other positions. Or have Woolford start and Levi on the bench, who can then play hooke...

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Teams and Previews
Time to drop Tom starling! Sick of seeing him at 14 I'm with you there 100% - get Starling out of the NRL side. He played less than 15 mins last night and does not add value when he comes on. Levi played for too long last night - 50 minutes seems to be his limit, 60 mins is pushing it, 75 mins we s...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
There is a lot of assumptions here that Kayo is in next week. Don't be surprised if it is Cook - he has been going really well in NSW Cup in the 7 jumper. From what I've seen I'd prefer Cook for sure. Weekes can't defend which is a serious concern. His best role is probably back up fullback, if San...

I could see Kris into the halves Ricky is stupid enough to do this..... Id say its between Weekes or Sasagi for Fogs spot but then again, ricky has put whitehead in the halves before........ There is no chance Ricky will put ridiculous pressure on Strange by putting a bloke who can't kick alongside...

Surely Broncos won't run with both Smoothy and Sailor on the interchange against our forward pack... Te Kura or Taupau to push into the final 17 on game day possibly? Wild how many people are sperging over predictions that Ricky will probably pick his favourite, Hopoate, over Schiller. I don't think anybody here disagrees that Schiller is much more of an attacking threat. I don't think anybody here sees Hopoate as a much better defender. But the fact is Schiller'...

Look I was one of Schiller's biggest advocates on this forum but the fact is we are 2nd in attack and 7th in defence... I know which one Ricky will be wanting to fix and I'd be surprised if the guy who is letting in soft tries survives once Hopoate is available for selection. I don't think Hopoate i...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
I think Schiller should hold his spot. He's got a very good try scoring ability- he can finish with speed, he's athletic in the air and tall (becoming more important in the short drop out era in a number of ways too) and he has that bit of creative unexpected spark too. Based on last season, I thin...

A lot of people are picking Stewart in their 17 for this game if Rapana is rested, but I think chances of it happening are incredibly slim. Far more likely that Kris or even Savage will go to fullback with Sasagi or Hopoate to go to the centres. Hard to speculate on how we might line up without kno...

Starling certainly hasn't been killing it but I don't think we have a utility in the team who has the capacity to play big minutes at hooker in the case of an injury. I could be wrong about that but there isn't anyone in the forward rotation that jumps out to me. So based on the assumption that we ...

Starling is the luckiest bloke to make the 17 each week without a question imo. Maybe he brings something to the squad off the field that I don't see, but I agree 100% with others that he's not adding any value on the field. Levi, Hopoate and Saulo you can all make arguments for even if there are ot...

You only have to look at halves we have had over the past 20 years - Ethan Strange 5 games into his career has the potential to be better than all of them. At probably a bottom four side. I know that when there were rumours of us first getting him I checked the Eels forum for their viewpoint.
