Re: Canberra Raiders close in on major signing coup with Melbourne Storm centre Curtis Scott

To be fair the raiders took a hard line approach with boyd, paulo and austin... clearly it paid off for us this year. It shows, to be successful you need to find value for money even if it means moving on some pretty established players I seem to recall all three of those players being offered cont...

Re: Strongest 2020 line up

Tapine is a worse defender on the edge than Bateman is. That's really all that matters if you want a defensive side. How he compares to the guys he's replacing. People seem to be getting too bogged down in absolutes. He just isn't as good a lateral mover as Bateman and Whitehead are. Fantastic fron...

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Game Day

So over 95% of the media coverage following the Roosters win in the GF is around the incorrect calls against the Raiders, including all of the Sydney papers... to the point that the betting companies (who virtually run the game) refund punters who tipped the Raiders... and the NRL responds with this...

Re: Strongest 2020 line up

Playing Tapine at second row and having a bench of Havili, Young, Horsburgh and Guler, with Young to sub for Tapine at some stage, maximises our ability to play at a high intensity for most of the game. Both Bateman and Tapine can go hard as this set up would allow for both players to have a break a...

Re: Strongest 2020 line up

The only reason why people would think that a Tapine/Bateman switch would weaken us is based off a myth on this forum that Tapine is a bad defender on the edge imo. The fact remains that Tapine has played his best games for us on the edge. Bateman is great in either position... so I'd say we'd have ...

Still no guarantee IMO. The club has made it pretty clear they couldn't afford to extend him beyond 2020 , even knowing that Sezer's contract expired next year. There is a good chance they'll still release him if another club comes forward with a decent contract offer that includes 2020. I think th...

Re: NRL blocks Jordan Rapana's return from Japanese union in 2020

So there are two things which don't make any sense in this decision by the NRL and that's: a) how are the NRL judging Rapana's supposed market value for a <6 month contract? The fact that he's getting paid $500k to play in a competition that is not only a completely different sport, but known to pay...

Havilli is the best back up 9 we have at this stage but I’d love to see someone take the title off him this year. He’s solid but he has errors in him and doesn’t provide huge spark when he comes on. Not convinced Starling is the answer but hopefully he steps up or we unearth someone new. "...best b...

Just caught up on this news... for the NRL to block this is stupid imo. As long as he's registered before the cutoff at the end of June, it should be fine. We miss out on over 6 months of his contract year on his services, so why would it be a problem if he came back, as long as he doesn't break our...

From a probably reliable source, Rapana is off to Japan on $500K, back to Canberra circa round 3 on minimum wage. Don't know what happens after 2020.

I would class Cameron Munster as a far better 5/8 and he resigned for $800k a season Keary is still on 700k and is the best half in the game. Also Cody Walker is off contract and could be a better and cheaper option for some clubs if Jack asks for 1m. Really I'd say this is more about locking in a ...
