That was quite some team. Possibly the best club side any UK sport has ever seen.
But that wasn't my point. Have a look through the Saints, Warrington, Salford teams, etc.
They'll be peppered with players from the junior clubs in Wigan. There's nowhere quite like it.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
Again, you are focusing on other clubs and casting stones when you should focus on what the Raiders have done in recruitment of established FG players in the last few years. Junior competitions don't offer the training ground that College ball does in the US.
The only way a draft works in RL is if every player hitting the open market is included.
I'm not advocating for that, just saying it's the price of a draft system.

This is all getting silly and making the site hard to read. By not being terrible, Levi has exceeded expectations. He's not a liability at the moment, but he's not very good. He was a middling player for Huddersfield - a middling Super League club. Average in Super League is his level. There are 30-...

We need another good edge forward and hooker - maybe both from the UK. We should look at what St Helens and Wigan have. Otherwise I’m very excited on this team and the youth. This was the first Raiders game on in the UK this year - wasn't a bad introduction to the season. A bit of reading about ESL 9's right now. Seems like this bloke, Danny Walker would be the right one for us. Only 24, debuted for England last season. His highlights from 2023 look pretty well rounded. https://youtu.be/hoyX7gwxgj8?si=s7_uNNNfyTqtjYZR He's a good player - a bit reminiscent of Hodgso...

I like your analysis, Matt. Don't agree with it all, but you're not far off the mark with them all. However, you're tracking the wrong metric. You need to be talking about games. Would be a well-deserved win for Tapine if he gets it. He's the best player on that list (even against two of the best players in his position) and his whole season would deserve the award. However, I don't think he was outstanding in the internationals, which I think is still the criteria? Similar...

Nice article by Mike Wood (he really does write very nicely about the game) on Jack Welsby, where he talks about the Raiders being a potential landing place. I'd say now is the time to be inviting offers for Papalii and using the money to strengthen the spine and second row.
I don't mean it's time to phase him out - but get another club to chew up their cap and for the Raiders to spend where it's needed.

This decision shows the NRL does not understand the US market they are trying to break into. The strongest connection they had was bringing the Australian Raiders to the home of the US Raiders. With your hooker comparison botman I’d argue that’s based more on career. I think it’s debatable that we’re not getting more from Woolford than a number of those above him. Lam may we'll have had offers to stay in the NRL, but this would we'll be his last chance to play for his Dad. Ipape would be a great signing for the Raiders - an upgrade on all three hookers. We need to be recruiting better quality than Lachlan Lam, who couldn't even displace Drew Hutchison on the Roosters' bench. Lam at best is a back up half. He won't move the needle.
