Re: Who would you prefer to play in the Preliminary Final?

After today, the only team that can beat the Raiders is the Raiders. The one problem this season has been dealing with expectation and winning the pressure games when we're favourites. Give us Souths and it's a 50-50 call on the books and we'll smash 'em. If it's Manly we'll be favourites and it'll ...

I think the biggest downside to this is not having Rapana around for Cotric and Simmonsson to learn from.

I don't think he'll be missed too much on the field.

Re: Best/worst stadium to watch footy

I was surprised to see Elland Road mentioned earlier in the thread.

It looks OK, but it's really a crumbling wreck, with no room, few facilities and in a dreadful area of Leeds without transport links.

Across the other side of town, Headingley is a wonderful stadium, now.

I had quite a number of beers to celebrate that and I still haven't calmed down.

I have never seen an innings like the one from Stokes, from the early blocking to the sudden explosion. Just incredible.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Good points NR, I agree Smith is on another level above Ponting/Waugh at the moment. Unlike those 2 players, Smith hasnt got the benefit of a gun batting line-up around him, making his performances all the more incredible. As an Englishman, I'd still rather see Smith walking to the wicket than Waug...

Re: Canberra Raiders in talks to play trial in England

I really think the Raiders are over playing their hand in terms of popularity over here. I'm not alone in being seduced by a team with great English representation - the Warriors game last week was only the third game we've not had live. It's got to be remembered, though, that this is never going to...

Re: Has Bateman lost his mongrel?

I've been waiting for someone to test how good he is at fighting, all year. I thought he might have gone looking for Isaac Luke after the hand stamp in the Denver test, but that didn't happen - probably just as well. I wonder if Will Chambers will fancy a crack this time. Anyway, away from all of t...

I'd call the morning about even. Decent pitch by the looks of it, but the humidity will have helped the bowlers.

In a series where both sides have a weak batting order, I'd say 250 will put you right in the game.

Yeah others are putting my point better. I’m not saying don’t include Turner because he didn’t work out. I’m saying I don’t have a huge concern that Williams will flop just because Turner did. One turned up to see if he could hack it, approached the club for a chance. The other was specifically tar...

Re: One on one strip

I always been surprised that teams don't send the first chaser after a long kick at the man returning the ball. The overall chase would have to ensure the player going for the strip isn't part of the line, otherwise it could leave a gap. Even if they don't get the ball, it's possible to achieve a kn...

Re: Canberra Raiders sign Wigan Warriors half George Williams on three year deal

Great game from George Williams on Friday morning (Thursday night in the U.K.). Although Wigan and William's had a slow start to the season they are now both hitting a rich vein of form. It will be interesting to see how plays next year as he predominately operates on the left (like Wighton) but at...

Need to think about goal kicking, too. With Sezer and Sam Williams not likely to be on the pitch (or at the club in on of those cases), Croker is the only goal kicker. Anyone else done much goal kicking? Fairly sure it won't be George Williams - Wigan have had some real problems there for the last t...

This was a huge win, in my opinion. Every Raiders loss so far this season has happened in a game where the expectations - for whatever reason - have been ramped up. There were the Roosters and Souths games (and the Storm to a lesser extent) where it was a case of proving ourselves against the best. ...

WiganRaider - is there an increased interest in Raiders games in Pommyland now we have so many internationals running out? Should Donny be looking to the UK for a shorts sponsor? There definitely is, but it's still very niche. Rugby League is a minority sport over here (although not in Wigan!) and ...

Where would Sezer be going? Because I can't see him agreeing to go to England. It would have to be a three way deal. Avoiding the UK would perhaps explain his recent good form though.
