Re: Canberra Raiders sign Brisbane fullback prospect Sylas Simon
This kid does look tall though which puts a wing spot into contention. We have in the past moved young talented players between centre, fullback and 6 in reserves to help with their development but if 1 is his spot than I'd play him at 1.

Says to me Chevy is moving to first grade next year and this kid is the reserve 1. Kaeo probably moves back to 6 in reserves.

I'd look at cam smith for 13. Try smithies at prop.
In terms of 9 were probably at a point where pattie becomes the bench 9.

I haven’t seen him head back to Sydney after Millie signed with the Roosters. She was already living most of the year in Canberra. Mate the NRLW comp goes for 10 weeks. You think she lives in Sydney Full Time? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That was my point Brew. That was Brew’s point too mate...

Corey just needs to go somewhere where his boss doesn’t have a 1950’s approach both to coaching football and interpersonal relationships. We will see the best of Big Red somewhere else. It’ll look like a big mistake keeping Smithies and punting Horsburgh. to reframe it as the raiders had a choice b...

If it has been referred as a hip drop I would fight the charge. I think you would find it difficult to argue that whitehead had a grip on smith and uses that grip to swing onto his legs. no grip, no hip drop.

Thompson would be useful. I don't know about brailey but slim pickings. Our best recruiting would be a halves coach and an attacking coach.

off topic but savage has been our most talented outside back since he debuted. Watching him defend on the weekend was a thing of beauty everytime the pennies went there and created any space, his speed in shutting down said space was just nasty. He could and still could as he is young be an excelle...

I actually like that your doing it. The Levi hate is crazy for a player being shopped. People act like hes the one armed man who can't throw a ball, it's madness! But he can't tackle for the life of him either. No one is coming in now and saving our season at 9 no matter how many people want that go...

I love it because I'll assume as no one is denying Billy's facts and that he's right that with Levi starting we win more games than any of the other hookers. Pure political propaganda mind you, pick one thing that makes your point and bang it home without context. Keep it up Billy, we need to see th...

Why would the club give the guy who’s out of shape and spent the best part of the last month shopping himself around a free run in first grade in the hope he pulls his finger out (again)???? Well he's not just the reserve grade half, he's the leading try and line break assister in that competition. He's got around twice Sanders' stats in those areas accounting for games played It doesn't mean that will translate to first grade, in fact I'm starting to think we've just got a good attack...

The Val Holmes St George deal has consequences for us. It means that the Cowboys are more likely to be able to retain Reece Robson now. I believe they also need to come up with new deals for Reuben Cotter and Griffin Neame. All three are probably due for significant upgrades. Apparently Cotter is o...

The Kris - Wing move is interesting for me because 1. I think he has all the attributes to actually be a pretty good winger. Good size, reasonable speed, not a bad finisher. Good hard carry's as per his fullback role last year... BUUUUUUUUUUT 2. He's never looked remotely good at wing. Every time h...

Re: The hooker problem
The issue with Weekes is confidence and weather the coaches can get it out of him. He could be a really good player in any backline position but his confidence is holding him back.
He is almost a clone of reece robinson, same size, similar speed, had all of the tools but none of confidence.

Ok, 3rd at Raiders, 40th in the NRL. I'm only comparing to what we have but he has standard passing in the NRL. This isn't backing him as a hooker at all but the comment that he can't pass is wide of the mark. Starling would have one of the weakest passes in the NRL currently. Woolford is only slig...

I went through and watched all the highlights available for the NSW cup games. Honestly Woolford has looked better than Levi at least... It's a big end of season for Mooney and Mariota. It's been clear to see that they haven't been able to hold up the team when they have come on this season. With hoskings, Nicholson, saulo back, maybe hors or a new recruit the bench spots might not be there next year. What's going to count is how the...

Puru for me didn't understand his situation. He is undersized and would likely only play 15 mins off the bench. He needed to show he was useful and able to play that role. Ive said for a while he needed to develop a run in behind the ruck at speed which has value off the bench. He hasn't done that ...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
With Melbourne needing to sell it's probably worth looking at wishart for 9 and at worst he is a bench 14. If we're going for a forward it has to be mobile forward. NAS and Paulo can both waste a season due to weight issues so it's a no for me. I still think Xavier Williston after broncs poor season...

The funny thing is I think tamale desperately needs to be a hit from the off next season. With likely raps, cotric, Schiller leaving were really short on centres next year especially if Weekes is the fullback option and strange at 6. We literally have hoppa only as backup and he isn't a centre. We w...

The ball playing issues people have with smithies can be fixed to a reasonable level (even yep doesn't have exceptional passing) but the two things that he isn't is explosive and hes not quick and he never will be. Yeah Kris has always had a shocking miss in him defensively at centre The calls for him to play centre last year re: defence wasnt a comment on Kris's prowess but rather a comment on how Croker was just so physically cooked that he wasnt able to defend at an NRL level. Every time Smithies passed yesterday, I was concerned that it would be a hospital pass or be intercepted by Canterbury. I don't think he judges distance very well or has good spatial awareness. Let's assume Puru isn't selected and won't be here next year,
Is it now time to move smithies to the bench prop rotation and give Mooney a crack at 13?
I personally think that sasagi might be a better 13 than a second rower but it's pure speculation.
