This comes the day after ‘positive and productive’ talks between the Sharks CEO, John Morris and his manager...hate to think what would have happened if the talks went to crap. Don’t change Cronulla. Their 2 starters are undoubtedly good, however Papalii is the best front rower in this game. And it's not particularly close.radicalraider wrote: ↑April 14, 2021, 12:25 pm Parra have the 2 best starting props. Papalii will have trouble stopping one let alone both. Yeah i mean we've still got Timoko and HSS, and i've still got really high hopes for Simo too. Valemi as well. All these guys have the ability, and if one or two of them could kick on and become staples of the team and strong contributors, it would be very helpful as we look at how to get better in ...

Re: Raiders dealt huge blow as neck injury puts CNK out for up to two months
I'm not against someone who's performing taking his spot. Just haven't seen anything from Aekins so far to indicate that's coming. Maybe Aekins sets the world on fire with some rainbow passes and we end up with CNK on the wing. 30ft spirals for days. As i said in my initial post, i dont think it's ...

I reckon the large amount of options in the forwards has stumped the coach. He’s got to figure out the balance with the age groups we have. Off-season must involve culling a few forwards for the benefit of signing some backs. We don’t need million dollar signings, but we need something that’s above...

Yeah i think its clear we are not on the same page with Simo. I'm firmly in GE's camp where i think he's struggling to hold down a FG spot and any player, including Aekins, who gets a shot at FG, if they out perform him, they're a chance to take his spot.

I made the comment in this thread during the game. Panthers are bad winners. The way some of them carry on is unnecessary and lacking class. Im personally the type to not give much of a **** about that sort of thing, to me if you want to stop them carrying on, beat them. And to be clear, i still do...

They're a pretty well rounded team, what they do lack is something explosive out of the backfield... and with the way Allen is able to run the ball, there is gapping holes at times and Moss and Singletary simply dont have the juice to really take advantage Ettienne probably doesnt project as a true ...

Thank you Paul Crawley. And the Panthers had the hide to go public in the media complaining about one of our trainers! Our trainer didn't do the right thing... but talk about provocation. Aekins is certainly going to need to help us get out of trouble, that's one of the main roles CNK plays. But interesting answer. So my next question then, why the love for Simo? Where is his penetration? His power? His Evasion? Speed i'll give him a pass on because he's probably our fastest back, bu...

I watch a lot of football and I really dont think we play that much more crash balls than the rest of the comp. It feels like a meme. Where we are worse than the good sides is that they normally have a few options on the play so the crash ball might trick the defenders. A lot of our problems come f...

Yeah top 3 in our metres last week. His output has gone up a lot the last 2 weeks. Aekins isn't a winger. It's fullback or bust. Yeah Aekins is no winger. Don't believe there's any chance he's better than Simo there. im curious to know what skills you guys think that a winger needs to possess that ...

Simo might be technically bigger (i havent looked at the profile pages) but he certainly doesnt play big
I think there is a chance that if Aekins comes in and absolutely kills it that he could challenge Simo for the wing spot, it's unlikely but it's a chance

Like most fullbacks, he can certainly play wing.
Dont know that centre is the place for him but yeah if he comes in and absolutely kills it, he could easily play wing if the coach thought he was "undroppable"

Can we rule out the charnze that that Aekins at 23 isnt better than Nicoll-Klokstad at 23? I cant say that. Its not just who’s better, its the human element. Is he capable of being Ricky’s guy? These are the critical questions that need to be answered. sage words. sage words from a massive dubby.

If im moving on from CNK, it HAS to be for a guy who can ball play if you ignore ball playing, CNK is one of the best fullbacks in the comp and we'd be mad to move on from him. Kennedy is playing very well but im not seeing much ball playing from him. And the small sample size is a risk. Im a keen a...

I dont think so
I think he's comfortable with Rapana at fullback as a stop game in game (im not, but he clearly is) but i fully expect Aekins to get the nod. If he was not our back up fullback option, there would be little to no point of having brought him in here.

Agree with the above, his best comp in the NRL is CNK.
But whilst CNK's ball playing might be a 1 or 2 out of 10... Aekins is probably a 3?
So probably a very slight upgrade in that department i think

Also at least it's only 2 months... which means he'll be back well in time to get some legs into him before the finals
We've also got a bye week in 8 weeks, so it might make sense to say he's out until after the bye, and then we've got a nice little month of footy for him to find his feet
