Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

So to take a leap and assume Sticky IS holding a grudge - would it be the lazy defence for the match winning try or the non-pass for what would have been the match winning try? I might be in the minority but I don't think BJ was lazy in defence before the Roosters scored their match winner. I think...

Re: Canberra Raiders offering Jack Wighton close to $3 million

Yeah if we dig our heels in, he’ll get homesick and sign for a million a season with the West Tigers Correct. There is no putting the toothpaste back in the player empowerment tube. He's going to get his contract upgraded at some point this year... my reading of the tea leaves, the club has the mon...

Re: Canberra Raiders offering Jack Wighton close to $3 million

I can live with $900k a year. I think we are a risk of losing Bateman now. Estimations Papa - $800k + rep Wighton - $900k + rep Hodgson - $800k BJ - $700k Total: $3.2m + rep payments there (4 players, 30% of the cap) The cap will be 10m by the time he's actually due Also rep payments don't count to...

Simmons looks big for a saftey, but definitely has the speed for it. Just checked the IR list, Carson, Penny and Prosise injured so it was down to the 4th choice rookie Homer, and Lynch coming out of retirement. Not really a recipe for success. I've gone with Guler for a few reasons 1) Ive said this a lot but i think he's got the most potential of those guys, there is a little bit of Paul Vaughan stylistically imo. If George Williams is legit, and comes here and becomes a good creative half, then we can probably get away with CNK not being a super creative fullback, and then all he really needs is to be able to run the sweep and be a primary ball runner But we're going to struggle creatively if Williams isnt t...

WADA/ASADA clearly had nothing on the players. They cut a deal to wrap it up. Also, why is Beej in a contract year going to agree to come off the bench and deminish his value for his last meaningful contract? I dont see it. yeah i was just coming to post this, remember the yellow line isnt official. There is a difference, but i dont think JB lacks the athletic ability to defend at centre, nor do i think his game style would render him useless with ball in hand as a centre in attack He's play for his country at centre. Marking up against Australia and more than held his own. For me... for half a...

Re: What's your strongest possible Canberra Raiders 2020 line up?

The other way of looking at it, is do you really need 4 forwards on the bench? Teams only really substitute their middle forwards now, and Papalli and Tapine can both play about 60min without an issue. So if the other front rower plays 40min, you are looking at a total of 80 min game time to cover ...

Re: What's your strongest possible Canberra Raiders 2020 line up?

So lets say 6-8 were off the bench for injury/ HIA. Thats 1 in 3 or 4. IMO, thats enough for it to be an issue worth serious consideration. He came on in games late where there were no injuries at all, and it was just a sort of last ditch effort to make something happen. I reckon he got used 4, may...

This is what happens when you've got 40-50 year old men spotting the football with their eyes, instead of trying to utilise some technology in the football to spot the ball accurately.

I favour Havilii over a utility back myself, but again, i can see the value in what people are saying re: someone like Simo/Scott/Beej to give that 1-5 coverage

Re: What's your strongest possible Canberra Raiders 2020 line up?

Our most impactful forward is already out wide where he's impactful. Moving JB from back row to centre is literally moving him him 3-4 metres wider. His impact will be somewhat limited but there is a natural trade off, he doesnt get to run and target lazy edge forwards and halves, instead he gets ce...

Packers need to keep this clock moving and keep punching in scores.

I don't see how you can get away with not having a cover for the five backs on the bench with the current concussion rules. All it takes is one small knock and your entire game takes a hit accomodating a second rower in your backline. Same goes for hooker/halves (more so hooker, given the greater p...
