Re: 2020 NRL Nines: Teams and Game Day

All publicity is a good publicity... But good publicity is better than bad. The code wants to be providing consistent and positive talking points to keep the code in the news cycle. And the reason for that is two fold: 1. it gives the code year round coverage, which drives up rights costs, which bri...

Re: 2020 NRL Nines: Teams and Game Day

I'm not clear what purpose the Nines is meant to achieve. Timing clashes with world club challenge and disrupts preseason preparations. The comp is a truncated format. Can't work out what benefit teams get from taking it seriously The purpose is rather clear imo. The code is VERY deidcated to tryin...

Re: $7.7m Triple treat: Jarrod Croker and Nick Cotric set to re-sign with Canberra Raiders

600k on a 9.8mil cap is 6% of the cap. That's very reasonable for a player of his quality. You add in the stuff he does for the club as a captain and community figure and the fact some of that money is likely to be cap exempt, it's a slam dunk. But it is clear which direction this thread is headed. ...

Norman was never a top corner in the league In Carolina he was a zone corner, which is why they didnt pay him, very rarely went press man and when he did he got beat like a drum, that trend continued in Washington. He was a good NFL level corner in the right scheme and pretty bad out of the scheme, ...

I love how the perennially mild mannered Jarrod Croker only ever aggressively roughs up one player in the comp. Josh Dugan. Its genuinely one of my favourite things. He belts him every **** game they play. He really seems to despise him. I'd love to know the story there because as BadnMean said, he...

He's an NRL standard winger. Could start at any number of clubs.
He comes in and does his job and does it well as a winger... would like to avoid him being used as a centre.. but he did have solid performances there too

Re: Jack Wighton signs four-year extension with Canberra Raiders

This is pure guess work... The media saying it is "over" $3 million... wouldn't surprise if something like the original figure was stuck with for 2021 and it is something like $850,000 in subsequent years. They're still talking about a figure close to $1 million with NSW and Kangaroos payments. The...

Re: Jack Wighton to finalise $3 million four year Raiders deal this week

"more than" $3m over 4 years ($750k p.a.). Doesn't say how much more so could be a number of incentives e.g. Rep bonuses, that aren't yet quantified. $750k is what his current deal was reported to be. Assuming he'll end up getting a bit more than that it's a pretty fair deal all round. If it comes ...

Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott faces NRL stand down unless he hands over video footage

Yeah, I don't think there are any winners here. Scott's lawyer hoping to get off some of the criminal charges based on some technicality won't absolve him from the fundamental issue of how he found himself in that situation. It's all likely to be messed up. Not quite. If the lawyer proves the arres...

Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott faces NRL stand down unless he hands over video footage

Legally speaking, if the NRL is shown the footage and then make a decision to stand him down or let him play, could it later be seen as potentially influencing the trial? That’d certainly be the position I’d argue if I were Scott’s lawyer This is really simple for Todd, the charges don’t amount to ...

He's not a party to the court action, the footage is evidence, he has no right to see it. He should ask the prosecution and see how he goes with that. Correct. Unless the prosecution and defence both agree to the release to a 3rd party, he has no right to see it, least of all place a timeline on Sc...

Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott faces NRL stand down unless he hands over video footage

I think Greenberg is within his rights to reserve his decision until he's seen the footage, but he's got to go through the correct legal channels. I'm sure someone in his position, should have the gravitas to get the police to grant consent to have it released/shown to them. If he lacks that level o...
