Re: Ricky Stuart joins NRL's newly minted innovations committee

On the list: more challenges. Last season showed us that challenges were pretty sucky. Most teams didn't use them well and then they were also definitely used strategically at times to slow a roll down. So Cook wants to double the amount of them. They also want to have referees challenges... The ref...

Re: 2020 in review - Kai O'Donnell

Yeah I feel for these guys- they lost a whole year of footy development due to bad luck. He certainly never let the side down when we was on and he offered enough moments to hint there was a real FG footy player there. His stats would stand up just fine but it's a weird sample of shorter minutes and...

Re: 2021 Canberra Raiders draw

We play Storm x2 and Chooks x2. Doesn't seem that easy. Of course plenty of other teams will play them x2 as well. There's always a couple of teams that dramatically improve and a couple that slide away anyway. Is Thursday a FTA slot? We have 5 of those. Depends how they are handled but there could ...

The sample is a bit small to really tell how he was going - especially with the rule changes. Not convinced they suit him. I don't think he's really suited by the new changes. He's not quite as nimble as the Young, Yeo, Murray, Radley and even Lolo set as far as locks go. Imagine if Hors came back w...

I’ve got to say, I’m already really impressed with Harry. He might be a fearless young bloke, but it is a courageous thing for a young guy to do... cross the world in a pandemic, leave his family behind when he’s not even 20, spend two weeks in a hotel room by himself... and then try and forge a fo...

If Tuipulotu is the bloke I'm thinking of, he only played one game for the Roosters this season? If that was him, I recall watching that game thinking he was plenty involved but made a couple of errors and didn't make a huge impact with the ball. I reckon Valemei has more upside, but can't hurt to ...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2020

Tuipolotu is pretty highly rated by Roosters fans. "Played one game and still scored more tries than Ryan Hall" :roflmao

He'd be a decent get. He'd be the third random ex union, big unit 18-21 year old winger we've signed in the off season though so I doubt we are really signing him.

To be fair, that's one of the better predicted Raiders squads Fox have put together over the years. Not only are all the players still at the club, but they are in their correct positions. Although I am concerned they have left Crocker out... Havilii or Starling will be on the bench, surely. Curtis ...

I think it's wise not to put a lot of pressure on a 21 year old outside back who has yet to make his debut... particularly in the outside backs, if you're good, you're at least a year or two into a FG career by 21. Was there a cap reduction? Re: Canberra Raiders co-captain Josh Hodgson has eyes set on round one return

I don’t think Hodgson’s game is built on speed, it’s built on making the right passing, running and kicking decisions and attracting the attention of the defence. I also don’t think Hodgo played to his usual standard last year and he held the ball up way too much, but I still think he has a lot to ...

I'd like to see him starting at right edge, with Young at starting lock or bench role (give him minutes at lock or even resting an edge). If we look at how long it took Rapana to get fit and firing after coming back from Japan - several weeks- then I don't see any issue with how CHN came back after being completely alone and outside a professional organisation + during a lockdown + a personal lowpoint. He was steady enough in his firs...

Re: Canberra Raiders co-captain Josh Hodgson has eyes set on round one return

We all hope the best for him but I'm worried... Azza level worried... his lateral movement was never great and there is even more focus on being fit and agile defending that middle late in halves now with speedy fullbacks and mobile locks zipping through there vs retreating lines.

It no coincidence, though, that the Raiders found a winning consistency when he came back. Someone needs to drive those standards. Spot on. That's my major worry. I think 2 years is good for both parties. If he's worth more by then, we'll end up paying him regardless (the way things are these days). Better off locking something in now. Of more interest is the Rapana deal being talked about as a more sane 1 year deal than the 2 year that had a few fans worried...
