Re: Our attack

Definitely think this warrants some further discussion.

We are yet to score a try this year with a slick, rehearsed backline move - instead relying on kicks, offloads and individuals.

Re: 2019 Rd 2 V Storm: Teams and Previews

To me the issue of splitting the rotation comes down to styles, not names. I saw the value in trying Boyd and Paulo together but it was clear early it didnt work because when they came off, you got rolled up. To me you want the big physical enforcers paired with the foot speed/high energy guys. And...

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Game Day

John Bateman stats according to NRL.com - 145 running metres, 36 tackles, 5 tackle busts. That is a really impressive debut.

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

I am not underrating the Bulldogs - they will likely have an OK season - the point is if we want to challenge for a top 8 spot, we cannot be conceding 20 points in a half to them.

Worst attack in the NrL? What do you base that on? They weren’t the worst last year and finished the year quite well....they put 36 on newcastle in newcastle, 36 on the broncos, 27 on the warriors, 38 on the dragons at kogarah. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Basing that on the fact that they ha...

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

We conceded 20 points against the worst attack in the NRL (Bulldogs), and allowed them to roll forward with ease. Based on that form (which is all we have this year to go on), saying we are going to struggle is completely reasonable.

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Guler is a young forward. Every bit of a rookie still. Playing him back at Mounties to get fitness up isn't the end of the world or bad management. He will feature in FG this year but my take is by adding Lui just gives us that bit more experience. Horsburgh was the star of the trials there was no ...

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Guler is a gun, I find it all very confusing. He was our best performing forward at the end of last year. I am stoked Horsburgh is getting a run, but Stuart's selections continue to baffle. Lui not selected for the main trial with Guler the obvious front runner for a bench spot and Hunt starting, th...

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews

We just have to pick Guler and Horsburgh. You would think Sia would come off the bench to keep the intensity once the first forwards have done their stint, though I wouldn't mind him on for line speed against Boyd. I don't mind who starts between Lui and Hunt, just please, please, no Luke Bateman.

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews

Horsburgh and Guler are musts on the bench. We need to be seen as a side that gives good young players a chance - ignoring their age, they bring much more to the table than the other options available anyway.

Good to have the footy back. Watched the Warriors/Tigers and Dragons/Souths games. Obviously just trials, but hard to see the Tigers doing much this year. It baffles me why they have Farah and Marshall back, to be honest. They need to plan for the future, give the keys to Brooks and take a couple of...

Re: 2019 Rd 1 V Titans: Teams and Previews

Our issue is the same as it has been for the past two seasons. Allowing the opposition quick play the balls, and huge metres every set of six, then putting pressure on our edge defenders to make decisions on the back foot. We need players capable of dominant tackles and winning the ruck in the middl...

Re: Something awry with NRL's salary cap compensation

Good article. The issue with changes like this is always the second order effects, or unanticipated changes. Clubs will care less about the background of the player, but if the bans are going to be more strict going forward, the players won't be allowed back in so theoretically, the player knowing t...

However, under uncertainty and opacity, and given that we only have one planet, you must invoke the ...

Stuart's Win/Loss record and 1/5 finals appearances would have meant the sack at literally any other club. I like him as a personality and legend of the club, he does great things off the field, but it is a mystery to me how he is seemingly under no pressure given his recency weighted coaching recor...

Stuart did not even mention Abbey when discussing potential fullbacks, so you would think he is out the door.

Very surprised Lui was not picked - always puts in a decent effort, you would think it has to be an injury (even though it is not mentioned).

Was not going to start a new thread but thought it might warrant one. Given Stuart's recent comments in the media about focussing on defence, I am actually worried about our attack. Putting aside how he carried on when he was playing, Ennis has always struck me as a good guy off the field. Stating the obvious - but if we don't sign an NRL level half or fullback, the season is a write off unless Abbey can have a breakout year. It's funny because Abbey is the kind of player I think we should target - young juniour rep player looking for a chance. They usually come cheap and have a small...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019

Edwards is a really good prospect, the best of the ones mentioned. He is still really young so will develop a passing game and more strings to his bow. He is quick, breaks a surprising number of tackles for someone his size and is extremely safe under the high ball.
