Re: Greg Inglis to enter rehabilitation

Great post. I am sure everyone has their stories - I lost one of my close friends to depression last year. No one had any idea he was struggling, at all. One of the toughest things to deal with in my life.

Speak up and get help. No shame in it, nothing "soft" about it.

Re: 2019 NRL Round 11 - Teams and Game Day

Ivan Cleary has managed to try absolve the Penrith debacle this season on the sex tape stuff at the start of the year. Would the players involved in that even have been in 1st grade? I thought May in particular was their back up half. I'm not saying outright that this issue hasn't affected Penrith ...

Re: Canberra Raiders Origin chances

Alexander just posted an article on "Player's Choice" which strongly hints Cotric will get selected on the right side. If he has a good game against the Cowboys at centre, I think that is where he will play.

They are a lot stronger than since we faced them last, will be a much tougher game. Bolton, Lolo and Feldt are decent ins for them. If we are serious this year, though - we should win.

Re: Croker for Blues right centre?

Fittler set to lock in Blues team before final auditions Brad Fittler and his Blues brains trust are expected to lock in their first Origin team as early as Wednesday, meaning this weekend's final auditions become all but redundant. Canberra's Jack Wighton is firming but for a bench spot, not centr...

Re: Jack Wighton confirms switch to five eighth

If the rumours are true, as long as Wighton stays injury free, he will be playing for the Blues this year off the bench. Completes a pretty remarkable turnaround for the guy - I love watching players like him through our juniors and up through the grade - very rewarding for us fans. Still remember h...

Re: Parramatta Eels 2019

To be honest, I agree with the Eels' management on this one. Gutherson is a solid player - can cover plenty of positions in the backline, but he is a bit of a flat track bully. I am yet to see him step up against a quality side. He is "OK" at a lot of things - but I don't see him worth more than 550...

Must re-sign, two year deal would be good. Wingers are much more important in the modern game than historically. They start your sets, defuse bombs, finish tries.

Re: 2019 NRL Round 9 - Teams and Game Day

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised the Broncos suck this year. Of their cap, 1m goes to Milford, 800K to Boyd and 800K to Bird. Not sure what Gillet is on, but he wouldn't be far off. That's a huge amount of money spent on 4 players who are incredibly inconsistent.

Very unlucky for him given he really seemed to effort into his preparation this year.

Agree with the posters above - Cotric has to move to right centre.

Re: Is Jack Wighton finally ready for NSW Blues call up?

He got huge wraps on the Gus Gould podcast today. Gus seemed very keen for him to get a spot on the bench, talked up his versatility and the fact that he is built like an Origin player. Given how close Gould is to Fittler, might happen.

Re: Dave Furner

The main positive I had with Furner's coaching was his desire to give young players a chance, which was really refreshing having lived through the Elliot days. Furner handed debuts to a lot of players that went on to make it in the NRL (and some who did not). Other than that, the cap management and ...

Blake Austin at top of the Man of Steel rankings for Super League. Everyone predicted he would do well, happy for him.

The club definitely made the right choice though, given the style of play we are going with this year.

Re: Is Jack Wighton finally ready for NSW Blues call up?

Bird playing well is a bit of a media driven myth atm imo. He’s rucking the ball up strongly but that’s about it. Couldn't agree more. If he was playing for another club, he wouldn't rate a mention. I think if you simplify Jack's game, give him 20 or so minutes off the bench, he would do a good job...

Re: Through green eyes 2019

Referees should not be given historical data on teams' ruck speed. They should either be given "live" data, or nothing at all. Dominant/surrender tackles need to be excluded from any "live" data given to them. They need to call games as they see them, not with preconceived notions.

I don't feel great about it either, but the Panthers have lost a bit of strike compared to last year. I don't rate Peachey much at all, but he always carved us up with his ad-lib style, drifting across the ground and offloading. Same with Corey Harawira-Naera. They are missing Whare too, and no Tyro...

That Manly team with DCE was absolute rubbish. When Cherry-Evans got injured they were a bad a lineup as you'll see in the NRL this season. That was an absolutely disgraceful performance from us. At the game in the stands, and both teams were standing consistently 1-2m in front with plenty of shenanigans in the ruck, we got pinged for it a couple of times but they didn't. They were offside a number of times after line breaks/quick play the balls with no penalties blown. Not a "ref's faulter"...

It's not some NRL conspiracy. It goes back to GE's favourite topic - unconscious bias.
