Re: A new Canberra Stadium

Queanbeyan is in a marginal electorate in federal government and in state government. The ALP seems to be in "government for life" mode in the ACT and none of the seats are marginal. Barr seems unlikely to move on, seems not to have any special marketable skills to get another equivalent j...

I firmly believe that the only chance for the Raiders to play in a modern stadium is to return to Queanbeyan. It wont happen in Canberra.

Re: Raiders look to extend Ethan Strange contract

One of my best mates is on the medical staff of the Raiders, mostly working with the juniors. Through him I have had a pretty good look atthe system of culling the junior roster to its final numbers. It is a very scientific process and rigorous. A couple of years ago there were two players who made ...

That is an excellent point.

Got to feel a bit sorry for Weeks. From all reports he was a whisker (or a second trial) away from playing 6 for us this year then Strange plays the way he did in the second trial, starts the year how he has, gets offered 700k a year and here we are. Now Chev gets a crack at fullback and he is stil...

Sanders isyoung, and young players notoriously have big fluctuations in form. Apparently he had a dip in his form last weekend. Big deal. His history throughout his career to date is one of consistent excellence and he is being recruited based on that excellence. He is well worth the gamble that rec...

Put Stewart at fullback and it is a very young backline, and still a young team over all.
If not Stewart I would like to have a look at Weekes get a run. Certainally wouldnt slow down the team.

So many options, but I’m still of the strong view that Danny Levi is the best 9 in the club and is who Ricky will pick when the team is announced tomorrow. Must have missed this so I’ll ask again! Re: 2024 salary cap analysis: What every club’s roster is really worth

As all players must receive the minimum wage of $130k (total $3.9m) and all clubs must spend 97.5% of their cap, leaves a max of about $7.5m as "discretionary" spending to be divvied up amongst the players. That equals $250k each divided equally, which it wont be.

Lots of the NSW Cup blokes are pushing Asomua, Schiller, Chevy, Stewart... Stewart will get the fullback spot eventually, the coach conceded that today. There are 3 very good options to replace Kris this week if he's unavailable. Woolford was very good in NSW Cup too i thought, but i am happy to sa...

Nobody else has mentioned it, so I will. In the first trial Woolford didnt last long but he piqued my interest for his propensity to put a big loop on his longer passes. Jed Stuart is bad, we should sign John Folau for depth Im not silly enough to take this seriously, but it raises a point. What part does Jed play within the club? Mitch Henderson looked an interesting prospect on his effort late in the game. I will be watching with interest.
I'm a bit bemused by a blogger questioning the athleticism of Jed Stuarrt considering he was a Rugby Sevens international. That game is like rowing, all aerobic capacity and speed.

As long as he’s quick enough. It’s hard enough for us to put a player in space only to have him run down and have to do it all again. When Chicka, Kenny, Noa or Mullins got the ball in space more often than not they went the distance. We haven’t had flanks who could finish like them in years. Remem...

Good insight COM. I agree, the club is far from a sieve. The West tigers are a sieve. There's been quite a few instances of the club keeping things under wraps. Morgan Smithies signing is a recent example. We're not quite as piss poor as the worst run club for the last 15-odd years, i'd agree. Star...
