Re: 2024 salary cap analysis: What every club’s roster is really worth

As all players must receive the minimum wage of $130k (total $3.9m) and all clubs must spend 97.5% of their cap, leaves a max of about $7.5m as "discretionary" spending to be divvied up amongst the players. That equals $250k each divided equally, which it wont be.

Re: 2024 Rd 3 v Warriors: Teams and Previews

Lots of the NSW Cup blokes are pushing Asomua, Schiller, Chevy, Stewart... Stewart will get the fullback spot eventually, the coach conceded that today. There are 3 very good options to replace Kris this week if he's unavailable. Woolford was very good in NSW Cup too i thought, but i am happy to sa...

Ask Jaeman Salmon about Rick’s ability to hold a petty grudge, for a decade if necessary! If you knew the story about the Salmon grudge, you would realise that it is all about loyalty to family. Your hatred of Stuart has you looking in all the wrong places for ammunition to fire at him. It does you...

Nobody else has mentioned it, so I will. In the first trial Woolford didnt last long but he piqued my interest for his propensity to put a big loop on his longer passes. There werent many of them to study, but I kept an eye out in the second trial and believe I saw it again. This wasnt a feature of ...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

Jed Stuart is bad, we should sign John Folau for depth Im not silly enough to take this seriously, but it raises a point. What part does Jed play within the club? Jed is not going to get a run in first grade, ever. Reasonable wingers are a penny a dozen. But, the Raiders are trying to bring through...

Mitch Henderson looked an interesting prospect on his effort late in the game. I will be watching with interest.
I'm a bit bemused by a blogger questioning the athleticism of Jed Stuarrt considering he was a Rugby Sevens international. That game is like rowing, all aerobic capacity and speed.

It wasnt specifically about Savage but applicable anyhow. His comment was that at best fans see 1.5 hours plus a clip or two of pla...

There is a bit of "The Dog That Didn't Bark" about Savage. In all the interviews with players and coaching staff that I have seen since late last year not one of them has mentioned Xavier as a strong shot at first grade in 24. There have some mentions in passing after ginning up some other...

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Junior Tupou

As long as he’s quick enough. It’s hard enough for us to put a player in space only to have him run down and have to do it all again. When Chicka, Kenny, Noa or Mullins got the ball in space more often than not they went the distance. We haven’t had flanks who could finish like them in years. Remem...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2023

Good insight COM. I agree, the club is far from a sieve. The West tigers are a sieve. There's been quite a few instances of the club keeping things under wraps. Morgan Smithies signing is a recent example. We're not quite as piss poor as the worst run club for the last 15-odd years, i'd agree. Star...

Savage on the wing presents problems because he is so easy to drag over the sideline. Bigger / stronger bodies can resist better.

Woolford is a very promising player, but currently his defence is nowhere near as good as Starlings. He has a good pass off the ground, but his poor defence and lesser running game makes Starling the better option for mine.
