Re: Canberra Raiders preparing to start extending grand final heroes

I believe from other sources that Rapana is keen to stay in Canberra for a number of reasons, ie his partners family are all here, he has a home here he doesn't particularly want to leave, he is very attached to the club and its players, he feels strongly that good things are around the corner for t...

Re: Canberra Raiders preparing to start extending grand final heroes

From a probably reliable source, Rapana is off to Japan on $500K, back to Canberra circa round 3 on minimum wage. Don't know what happens after 2020.

I am absolutely thrilled to bring you the grand final edition of Pickman's Nickman. And for this edition we dig into the back story of the people's favourite, Nancy Nickman. There has been conjecture that Nancy Nickman was just a random picture from the internet but this is patently incorrect! Nanc...

Re: Let’s get behind Erin Molan

I don't want to seem too contrary to the views of anyone here on this thread, as I think we basically agree on the problem but differ on the solution, or even the necessity of a solution. I enjoyed reading Pigs couple of posts, they were well written and compelling, and I agree with them. He, like m...

Re: Let’s get behind Erin Molan

When I left school and moved to Sydney I used to regularly attend the match of the round at the SCG and if I wasn't playing I would attend a game at a suburban ground as well. Crowd makeup then was overwhelmingly male, probably 70/30 or more. Overwhelmingly uncouth and prone to sudden violence as we...

Re: 2019 Preliminary Final V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

I'm waiting to get nervous, but it is just not happening. Everywhere I went today people were telling me how nervous they were, and I just felt left out. Maybe tomorrow will be different, but I have a zen like calm and a confidence that a win is going to come, a win in the recent tradition of Canber...

Re: Preliminary Final tickets

Years ago I was in the US on business and was booked into an hotel in Denver. On reaching my room I was astounded to look out the window down the length of the Mile High Stadium. There was a whole complex of sports and cultural venues including a Convention centre plus hotels etc. There was a NBA ga...

Re: Preliminary Final tickets

The last time we saw this type of demand for a game was nearly a decade ago. Since then, I don't recall a full house. Not exactly a great case to built a stadium off the back of that tbh. "Build it and they will come!" It is true to an extent. There have been several 20k plus crowds at GIO in recen...

Re: One on one steals

Don't misunderstand me Nicko, I agree with the decision against Liu, he got it entirely wrong and had to be penalised. But my point is that he should never attempt the steal, he is highly unlikely to get away with it and any circumstance where it is near enough to a 50/50 decision will result in a p...

Re: One on one steals

Yeah, B&M , I really do think "unconscious bias" comes into calculations regarding the strip. If Hodgson does one they are more likely to acknowledge he has the method down to a fine art and thus has got the benefit of the doubt. If a random like Liu tries it the refs are more likely to doubt his sk...

Re: One on one steals

Yeah, you are probably right Rickman, teams are obviously very wary around Hodgson and the other poms and maybe I mistook that for a calculated plan by the Raiders. I've never thought we got any bad calls re the strip, but there are always 50 / 50 calls and in the early days I thought they slightly ...

Re: One on one steals

I think two things have happened. The Raiders have not made many attempts to strip in recent games, possibly to decrease the attention of referees and opposition and secondly the referees seem to have moved the benefit of the doubt slightly back in favour of the ball carrier.

Re: Preliminary Final tickets

I wouldn't park on Dryandra St when there is a big crowd in the offing, likely to be overcrowded, crawling with parking police and too far a walk for young kids, especially during the charge of the light brigade at full time. Park at Dickson or Gungahlin and catch the bus, it might be a bit slow but...

Yep! I'm barracking for 10 minutes extra time and then golden point where Storm win with about 3 seconds to go, several injuries and half the team on report for cheap shots behind the play. I'm prepared to accept justthe injuries portion of this wish list.

Yep, I believe he has had a change of managers to a bloke the Raiders have had some unhappy dealings with in the past. Unspoken message seemed to be that they did not trust him.

Re: 2019 Preliminary Final V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews

On the subject of Guler, I find something admirable about his trajectory this year. At the start of the year he must have had a feeling that his stocks were down somewhat with the arrival of the Poms and the advance of Horseburger. He seemed a fair way away from seeing first grade but from all repor...

Re: Canberra Raiders sign Wigan Warriors half George Williams on three year deal

There are at least half a dozen halfbacks in the comp that defend better than him. He's also missed the 8th most tackles and is 10th in tackle effieciency out of the 16 halfbacks. Me thinks you're just making a lazy, generalised statement which tries to sound smart but has no factual basis whatsoev...
