Re: Eels half Ethan Sanders agrees to terms with Raiders for three year deal from 2025
In 2026, Strange, Sanders and Chevy will still only be 21 years old. I’d like to think we’d be up towards the top of the table but they’ll still be very young for spine players and I think having the premiership cut-off date that soon is unreasonable. Strange could have 40-50 games under his belt b...

Re: Eels half Ethan Sanders agrees to terms with Raiders for three year deal from 2025
A great signing for the future. Certainly buys another five years for the coach. And it shows in his laidback approach this year. The last two seasons he has looked like a coach under pressure. Particularly 2022 where he looked a dead man walking until Savage and Woolford came into the side and sav...

Re: Hooker for 2025 and future years
I think Starling has more versatility to his game than Woolford. At least the coaches appear to think that way. Starling can fill in at middle, can sub in the halves in a pinch, and is quick from dummy half. Shame is, he's not particularly good at any of them. I think this role should go to Puru. A...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
Agree with both your posts Bluesbrother and Rickmando. Any experience he can gain this year will be a benefit but there is that aspect to manage with spine players. Not all gametime is of equal value if you aren't seeing some nuance being added.

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
Btw anyone criticising Chevy is a goose. All fullbacks have games like that in their careers. It’s a position where there is nowhere to hide. Chev showed great character to keep putting his hand up. He’s going to be a great player, and games like last night actually accelerate his development far m...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
Some of the Chevy comments have been a bit ordinary. Teenager in game two ****. They're aren't many critical comments really, nobody put the line through him. He made errors and they were pointed out Agree. It's NRL football, fans have to be able to critique performance whether the player is 18 or ...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
Chevy Stewart courageous. Courageous yes, but he just hasn't added anything in these couple of games. An NRL fullback doesn't get by on courage like Gary Jack in the 80s did. He’s an 18 year old for god’s sake. I said that he shouldn’t play first grade for another year because playing games like th...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
For a team that's supposedly leaned into its attack this year, we have shown absolutely nothing with the ball I thought it was pretty clear last weekend that the Eels attack was an abberation. We were pretty much running through tackles all night there, which just doesn't happen at NRL level. There...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
Would love to see Savage given a run at FB in the second half. He seems really keen to be involved.
Hmm concerns about Stewart's build watching this. Can't think of too many fullbacks his size that have been elite without top tier speed.

Kris hasn't been getting good ball outside Strange. Strange's running game has been one of the highlights of our season and he still had the surprise factor. I'm guessing as teams begin to target the metres that Strange makes those opportunities will start presenting themselves to Kris. I've definit...

Fair enough if you have the inside word.Dylan’s Raiders wrote: ↑April 17, 2024, 3:03 pm We didn’t let him go - he got a three year deal to play centre for more money. Good player, would have preferred him to stay over Hopa (and potentially Cotric if he re-signs) but we can’t keep them all.

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Schiller's defence really needs to improve. Scores two tries but gives up one isn't sustainable. I've noticed that he seems to end up not marking anyone (Sivo's two tries, Kha-Perere). He has to take someone. He gets caught running after the ball like a dog playing catch on defence so often. It's b...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss out on David Fifita
I think it's at the stage where he'd be taking a substantial haircut to leave the Titans. Yesterday was an example where you want your million dollar players stepping up in crunch time. Fifita was largely unsighted, he did get snapped in half by Ata at one stage. He'll be staying put on the massive ...

Re: Ethan Strange agrees to terms for four year contract extension
Cotric had a lot of success early in his career and is now playing on cruise control. His effort in the last NSW cup game was appalling. There is still a very good footballer in there, if he can pull his finger out and also remodel his training to become a bit more agile. He's still very young. Do ...

Sam Verrills and I got to the same barber (literally) and he would 100% fit with the culture of the club - is a top bloke. I think we will and should sign Rapana for next year. Like a speed bump Lockyer. Coming is as the second man as someone’s already hit schiffa a small man and made him stumble. Still gets trampled. And qlders still try and argue he was a better rugby league player then John’s. You'll never see me try and argue that Lockyer was better than Johns, but I'...

Schiller scored 1 try, let in 2. If he can flip those numbers I can live with it. If anyone watches the try he scored and doesn't think that 99% of competent NRL wingers should score that thing, they are watching a different game to me But see that’s not the point. That was the most fun I've had watching us play since 2020, other than maybe the 2022 Storm finals win. Brilliant to see the next generation really put it on a struggling opposition.
